  • This investigation is carried out numerically for the two dimensional natural convection and surface radiation heat transfer in a square enclosure. The bottom wall is a constant heat flux at hot temperature and also top wall is isothermal at cold temperature whereas the left and right side walls are adiabatic except a transparent window on the right side partially. The exchange of radiant energy is obtained by the net radiation method and the shape factor by the crossed string method. The change in temperature and Nusselt number distributions of the walls due to the effect of the wall emissivity for various emissivities and for various dimensionless insolation energies are investigated. The dimensionless local convective heat flux and local radiative heat flux distributions in the wall except an adiabatic wall are also compared.

  • This study Is concerned with properties of a thermal convection in a stably stratified Boussinesq fluid caused by partial heating at the lower boundary. For thins purpose, two-dimensional, nonrotating system was employed. U the heating is very strong, convection takes the form of a turbulent plume. Othenuse, remains laminar. If the partial heating at the bottom boundary Is symmetric. the convection takes the form of a trubuient plume. Otherwise remains but beating form Is not so signiacant as to alter the vergence in the lower layer at the center of the partial heating area. The temperature perturbation is characterized by the temperature 'Cross-Over' over the partial heating area. These features are cleared ac- cording to the Increase of temperature difference between the center and side part of the bottom boundary.

  • In this study, adiabatic temperature rise of concrete depending on binder compositions and CGS contents is studied to provide informations for CGS low-heating aggregate and mixture designs for upper and lower placement lifts. Test nresults indicate that it is desirable to apply the combination of binders between top and bottom lift. For top lift, SESC or ESC is recommended, and for bottom lift, FAC+CGS 50 % is good for material composition.

  • The Yellow Sea Warm Current (YSWC) and the Yellow Sea Cold Bottom Water (YSCBW) are two protruding features, which have strong influence on the community structure and distribution of zooplankton in the Yellow Sea. Both of them are seasonal phenomena. In winter, strong north wind drives southward flow at the surface along both Chinese and Korean coasts, which is compensated by a northward flow along the Yellow Sea Trough. That is the YSWC. It advects warmer and saltier water from the East China Sea into the southern Yellow Sea and changes the zooplankton community structure greatly in winter. During a cruise after onset of the winter monsoon in November 2001 in the southern Yellow Sea, 71 zooplankton species were identified, among which 39 species were tropical, accounting for 54.9 %, much more than those found in summer. Many of them were typical for Kuroshio water, e.g. Eucalanus subtenuis, Rhincalanus cornutus, Pareuchaeta russelli, Lucicutia flavicornis, and Euphausia diomedeae etc. 26 species were warm-temperate accounting for 36.6% and 6 temperate 8.5%. The distribution pattern of the warm water species clearly showed the impact of the YSWC and demonstrated that the intrusion of warmer and saltier water happened beneath the surface northwards along the Yellow Sea Trough. The YSCBW is a bottom pool of the remnant Yellow Sea Winter Water resulting from summer stratification and occupy most of the deep area of the Yellow Sea. The temperature of YSCBW temperature remains ${\leq}{\;}10^{\circ}C$ in mid-summer. It is served as an oversummering site for many temperate species, like Calanus sinicus and Euphaisia pacifica. Calanus sinicus is a dominant copepod in the Yellow Sea and East China Sea and can be found throughout the year with the year maximum in May to June. In summer it disappears in the coastal area and in the upper layer of central area due to the high temperature and shrinks its distribution into YSCBW.

  • Though the recycling rate of coal fly ash generated from domestic thermoelectric power plants is gradually increased, at present, the most amount of coal bottom ash is disposed by a landfill instead of recycling. Therefore, to reuse a coal bottom ash as high-value materials the synthesis of zeolite made from a coal bottom ash was investigated in this study. NaPl, hydroxy-sodalite and tobermorite were produced through the alkaline hydrothermal reaction of pulvelized bottom ash at various temperatures; 80, 120, $150^{\circ}C$, and the concentration of NaOH at the range from 1 to 5 M. Especially, NaPl with excellent cation exchange capability had a high crystallinity at ${\leq}2$ M NaOH and ${\leq}120^{\circ}C$.

  • The behavior and characteristics of heavy metals at different streams in a MSWI(Municipal Solid Waste Incinerator) with a capacity of 100tonnes/day were investigated by measuring the concentration of heavy metals and gases and analyzing their leaching data from ashes. Metal components of Cr, Cu, Cd and Pb were in higher concentrations in the fly ashes collected after the water spray tower than in the bottom ashes. It was due to condensation by a lower temperature with water spray cooling. Metal contents in the bottom ash became higher for finer particles as expected. The mass balance of heavy metals in different stream was estimated from the analyzed data in bottom ash and collected dusts at different locations. For the lower volatility of metals such as Pb, Cu, Cr, 88-97% of them remained in the bottom ash, while Cd and Hg escaped from the combustor with remaining in bottom ash of 18.4 and 0.8%, respectively. In most cases the leaching rate of fly ash showed higher values than that of bottom ash, with the their average acidities of 9.8 and 11.9 respectively.

  • The data of temperature, chlorophyll a, phytoplankton and NOAA/AVHRR satellite data were analyzed about 7 stations around Wando Island area on August 30, 2005. The sea water temperature range was from $15.19^{\circ}C$ to $24.97^{\circ}C$, and there was a cold water mass from the station 1 to 5 around the outside of Chungsando Island, the water temperature was lower at the bottom than surface. The salinity was $32.41{\sim}34.03$, DO was $7.40{\sim}9.14mg/L$, but the concentration of chlorophyll a was 1ug/L higher at the bottom than surface. Total phytoplankton appeared from the whole stations were 47 genus, 80 species and diatoms were dominant. A lot of dinoflagellates Ceratium forca and diatoms Thalassithrix spp. mostly appeared in the cold water mass were turned up from the station 1 to 5. 4 groups of phytoplankton clusters were shown in the surface, and 3 groups of phytoplankton clusters were shown at the bottom according to the water temperature. On the ground of the result analyzed with NOAA/AVHRR satellite data, the SST around Wando Island was $22{\sim}25^{\circ}C$, it was formed by thermohaline front latitudinally

  • The dielectric and pyroelectric properties of $Ba_{0.66}$$Sr_{0.38}$$TiO_{3}$(BST) thin films growtn on Pt/Ti/NON/Si us-ing RF magnetron sputtering have been investigated. With increasing the substrate temperature during de-position of the BST film in the range of 300-$600^{\circ}C$ the dielectric and pyroelectric constants of the film were increased due to improved crystallinity of the film. In addition the dependence of the microstructural and electrical properties of BST films onthe deposition temperature of the bottom Pt electrode was studied. The preferred orientation of the BST films as well as the microstructure of the Pt film was greatly in-fluenced by the deposition temperature of the bottom Pt electrode was studied. The preferred orientation of the BSt films as well as the microstructure of the Pt film was greatly in-fluenced by the deposition temperature of the bottom Pt electrodes. and thus so were the pyrolelectric pro-perties of the BST film. The highest value of pyroelectric coefficient at room temperature obtained in this work was $nCcm^{-2}K^{-1}$ which is much higher than those previously reported on other perovskite fer-roelectric thin films.

  • This study deals with bottom debris and benthos which have obtained by using a beam trawler in Chinhae bay, Korea. The temperature and salinity didn't impact on the fish species and weights in the bay. But bottom debris is dominated on the precipitation into the bay. And it also was nearly very soiled owing to geographical condition of semi-enclosed bay. Moreover, all debris was not related on the quantitative variability of benthos. On the other hand, it was revealed to be reverse-correlative with fish species and positive-correlative with fish weights.

  • Bottom gate and top gate field-effect transistor based carbon nanotube(CNT) were fabricated by CMOS process. Carbon nanotube directly grown by thermal chemical vapor deposition(CVD) using Ethylene ($C_2H_4$) gas at $700^{\circ}C$. The growth properties of CNTs on the device were analyzed by SEM and AFM. The electrical transport characteristics of CNT FET were investigated by I-V measurement. Transport through the nanotubes is dominated by holes at room temperature. By varying the gate voltage, bottom gate and top gate field-effect transistor successfully modulated the conductance of FET device.
