  • 본 연구의 목표는 난연화를 위한 기존 공법의 단점 보완과 환경 친화적인 난연제를 사용한 비 난연 XLPE 케이블의 난연화 방법과 최적의 난연 코팅액 배합에 있다. 전력용, 통신용 등과 같이 고난연성이 요구되는 경우 기존 컴파운드 방법으로는 난연제를 다량으로 첨가하여 사용하며, base polymer와의 혼합성, 기계적인 물성에도 영향을 끼쳐서는 안되는 등 여러 가지 요구 조건을 만족시켜야 하는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 각 난연 코팅액에 따른 코팅 표면을 고찰한 결과 모든 코팅의 표면은 깨끗하였으며, 코팅층의 두께는 약 10~20 ㎛로 일정하게 코팅이 되었다. Mg(OH)₂/Zinc Borate의 경우는 무게비(wt%)가 1 : 0.5, 1: 0.6에서 난연 효과를 보였으나. 1 : 0.7이상에서는 유연성이 떨어져 코팅층의 균일이 발생하여 연소 테스트시 난연 효과가 떨어지는 현상을 볼 수 있었다. Mg(OH)₂/AF100 S/Zinc Borate의 경우는 AF100 S의 첨가량이 증가할수록 탄화막 형성되어 난연성이 향상되었다.

Reduction of Tertiary Amides with Borane in the Presence of Trimethyl Borate

  • Various tertiary amides have been subjected to the reduction by borane-THF in the presence of trimethyl borate at $0^{\circ}C$ and the product ratio of alcohol and amine have been analyzed in order to find out the possible way to obtain one product exclusively on the basis of the structure of amides. In the case of N,N-dimethyl derivatives of both linear aliphatic and aromatic amides the corresponding alcohols were produced predominantly. However, the bulkier tertiary amides such as N,N-diethyl and hindered acid derivatives afforded amines rather than alcohols. The mechanism of borane reduction of tertiary amides is also discussed.

  • Silicon (Si) has been investigated as promising negative-electrode (anode) materials because its theoretical specific capacity of 4200 mAh/g for $Li_{4.4}Si$ is far higher than that of carbonaceous anodes in current commercial products. However, in practice, the application of Si to Li-ion batteries is still quite challenging because Si suffers from severe volume expansion and contraction and lead to a continuous solid electrolyte interphase (SEI)-filming process by cracking of Si. This process consumes the limited $Li^+$ source, builds up thick and unstable SEI layer on the Si active materials, and will eventually disable the cell. Since unstable SEI reduces electrochemical performance and thermal stability of the Si anode, the surface chemistry of the anode should be modified by using a functional additive. It is found that lithium bis(oxalato)borate (LiBOB) as an additive effectively protected the Si anode surface, improved capacity retention when stored at $60^{\circ}C$, and alleviated exothermic thermal reactions of fully lithiated Si anode.

  • Previous matrices of potassium ion selective electrodes are generally based on PVC. In this study, however, the electrode membrane was prepared with polyurethane matrix containing potassium tetraphenyl borate as sensing materials and D-18-Crown-6 and 2-nitrophenyl-n-alkylethers as solvent mediator. The average life time of the K$^+$-selective electrode based on polyurethane was 75 days which is significantly longer than PVC based one. The slope factor in linear dynamic range ($1{\times}10^{-1}\;{\sim}\;1{\times}10^{-4}$ M) was 52 mV/decade. The electrode has been successfully applied to find end point in potentiometric titration of K$^+$ with tetraphenyl borate solution in the sea water, even in the presence of several interfering cations$(NH^{4+},\;Na^{+},\;Li^{+},\;Ca^{2+},\;Mg^{2+},\;Cu^{2+}$).

  • In this study, we prepared poly(ethylene-ter-1-hexene-ter-divinylbenzene) using various metallocene catalysts with trityl tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate/triisobutylaluminium cocatalysts system. We tried rac-$Et(Ind)_2ZrCl_2$, rac-$SiMe_2(Ind)_2ZrCl_2$, and rac-$SiMe_2(2-Me-Ind)_2ZrCl_2$ to choose optimum metallocene catalyst, comparing with catalytic activity, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution of the terpolymers. To study the effects of chain length of high ${\alpha}$-olefins on the terpolymerization, we synthesized the terpolymers using 1-hexene, 1-octene, 1-decene or 1-dodecene. We characterized chemical composition, thermal properties, and mechanical properties of the terpolymers.

Lead Ion Selective Solid Contact Electrode based on Tetramethylthiuram monosulfide ionophore (Tetramethylthiuram monosulfide를 ionophore로 이용한 납 이온 선택성 poly(aniline) 고체 접촉 전극)

  • Lead (II) ion selective poly(aniline) solid contact electrode based on Tetramethylthiuram monosulfide ionophore as a sulfur containing sensing material is successfully developed. The electrode exhibits good linear response of 25.6 mV / decade (at $20{\pm}0.2^{\circ}C$, r2=0.995) within the concentration range of $1.0{\times}10^{-1}{\sim}4.0{\times}10^{-7}$ M Pb (II). The composition of this electrode was Ionophore : PVC : dioctylphthalate : potassiumtetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)borate : Oleic acid = 5.0 : 20.0 : 25.0 : 4.0 : 5.0. When we consider the results of using different composition electrodes based on only one potassiumtetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)borate or Oleic acid liphophlic additive, poly(aniline) solid contact electrode based on Tetramethylthiuram monosulfide ionophore with potassiumtetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)borate and Oleic acid liphophlic additive had the best result in response characteristics. The electrode shows good selectivity for lead (II) ion in comparison with alkali, alkaline earth, transition and heavy metal ions. This electrode is suitable for use with aqueous solutions of pH 3.0 ~ 7.0 and their standard deviation in the measured emf differences was ${\pm}2.94$ mV at Tris buffered lead sample solution of $1.0{\times}10^{-2}$ M and ${\pm}2.82$ mV at Tris buffered lead sample solution of $1.0{\times}10^{-3}$ M. Their stabilization time was less than 710 s. and response time was less than 16 s.

The Effects of Methyl Borate, Iodine and Potassium Iodide on the Radiolysis of Methanol by Co-60 Gamma Rays (붕산메틸, 요오드 및 요오드화칼륨이 메탄올의 Co-60 放射線分解에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of methyl borate, iodine and potassium iodide on the Co-60 gamma radiolysis of methanol have been reinvestigated at room temperature, utilizing an experimental technique based on gas chromatographic determinations of the gaseous products of the radiolysis. The presence of methyl borate reduces the yield for ethylene glycol to some extent, with slight reductions of the yields for hydrogen and formaldehyde. The presence of iodine causes appreciable reduction of the yields for hydrogen, formaldehyde and ethylene glycol, with a slight reduction of the yield for methane. The presence of potassium iodide reduces the yields for hydrogen and ethylene glycol but increases that for formaldehyde. A mechanism of the radiolysis reaction is discussed, on the basis of the observed data.
