CFT column has excellent structural properties due to the composite action between concrete and steel tube. The bond behavior between the constituent elements has to be found for analyzing the behavior of CFT column. A new model is necessary because most of existing models for bond stress-slip relationship of the deformed bar cannot be applied to the CFT column. Therefore, the objective of this research is to develop a new model related to the bond behavior of CFT column considering the relation between bond stress and vertical stress, and the distribution of lateral stress under the confinement created by steel casing. From equilibrium condition, the formula for relationship between bond stress and vertical stress is derived, and the relationship for the lateral stresses of the CFT column section is obtained by an Airy stress function. The experiments are performed for five CFT column specimens axially loading on concrete alone. The relation between bond strength and lateral stress is investigated from the regression analysis using the measured strains. Finally a new bond strength model is proposed, which is able to predict the relationship for the stress of each direction of CFT column loading on concrete.

This paper investigates the bond behavior of reinforced concrete beams having high-strength transverse reinforcement. A total of four reinforced concrete beams were tested in this study to estimate the bond capacity of the proposed U-shape reinforcement. The proposed U-shape reinforcement not only has a simple structure to install, but also can increase the bond capacity of reinforced concrete beams by controling bond cracks. This study follow the test method proposed by Ichinose to obtain the bond stress and the bond slip of the specimens. The main test parameters were the yield strength, ratio, and reinforcing types of transverse reinforcements. It was found that the proposed U-shape reinforcement was able to effectively improve the bond performance of reinforced concrete beams with high-strength transverse reinforcement.
In this study, a numerical model for the simulation of reinforced concrete columns subject to cyclic loading is presented. The model consists of three separate models representing concrete, reinforcing steel bars and bond-slip between a reinforcing bar and ambient concrete. The concrete model is represented by the plane stress plastic-damage model and quadrilateral finite elements. The nonlinear steel bar model embedded in truss elements is used for longitudinal and transverse reinforcing bars. Bond-slip mechanism between a reinforcing bar and ambient concrete is discretized using connection elements in which the hysteretic bond-slip link model defines the bond stress and slip displacement relation. The three models are connected in finite element mesh to represent a reinforced concrete structure. From the numerical simulation, it is shown that the proposed model effectively and realistically represents the overall cyclic behavior of a reinforced concrete column. The present plastic-damage concrete model is observed to work appropriately with the steel bar and bond-slip link models in representing the complicated localization behavior.
This study aims to investigate the influence of individual and hybrid fiber on the local bond-slip behavior of medium and high strength concrete after exposure to different high temperatures. Tests were conducted on local pullout specimens (150 mm cubes) with a reinforcing bar embedded in the center section. The embedment lengths in the pullout specimens were three times the bar diameter. The parameters investigated include concrete type (control group: ordinary concrete; experimental group: fiber concrete), concrete strength, fiber type and targeted temperature. The test results showed that the ultimate bond stress in the local bond stress versus slip curve of the high strength fiber reinforced concrete was higher than that of the medium strength fiber reinforced concrete. In addition, the use of hybrid combinations of steel fiber and polypropylene fiber can enhance the residual bond strength ratio of high strength concrete.
The microstructure and mechanical properties of concrete will degrade significantly at high temperatures, thus affecting the bond strength between reinforcing steel and surrounding concrete in reinforced concrete members. In this study, the effect of individual and hybrid fiber on the local bond-slip behavior of lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC) after exposure to elevated temperatures was experimentally investigated. Tests were conducted on local pullout specimens (150 mm cubes) with a reinforcing bar embedded in the center section. The embedment lengths of the pullout specimens were 4.2 times the bar diameter. The parameters investigated included concrete type (control group: ordinary LWAC; experimental group: fiber reinforced LWAC), concrete strength, fiber type, and targeted temperature. The test results showed that for medium-strength LWACs exposed to high temperatures, the use of only steel fibers did not significantly increase the residual bond strength. Moreover, the addition of individual and hybrid fiber had little effect on the residual bond strength of the high-strength LWAC after exposure to a temperature of 800℃.

There are much processing techniques of microwave circuits, whose dimensions are small compared to the wavelength, but the disadvantage is that they cannot be directly applied to circuits working at high and/or low frequencies. In this article, we will consider the bond graph approach as a tool for analyzing and understanding the behavior of microwave circuits, and to show how basic circuit and network concepts can be extended to handle many microwaves analysis and design problems of practical interest. This behavior revealed in the scattering matrix filter, and which will be operated from its reduced bond graph model. So, we propose in this paper, a new application of bond graph approach jointly with the scattering bond graph for a high frequency study.

For strengthening deteriorated concrete structures, externally bonded FRP sheets or plates using epoxy resins are widely used. For the external FRP composites to be effective in improving the performance of the structure, bond between FRP composites and concrete is required. In general, the most frequently observed failure mode in FRP strengthened concrete structures is debonding failure at the interfacial section between FRP and concrete. Therefore, it is very important to find out the interfacial behavior properties. This paper presents experimental results of the relationship of concrete and FRP sheet for some conditions including concrete compressive strength, concrete surface preparation to observe the bond behavior between concrete and FRP sheet and various anchorage types to increase the bond capacity of FRP sheet.
The small-scale models have been utilized for the prediction of inelastic behavior of reinforced concrete structures for several decades. The parameters that affect the similitude between the model and prototype are various. Among them, the effect of bond between the model reinforcement and the model concrete is one of the most important factors. The study reported herein is addressed to verifying this similitude in bond behavior. The simple beams which have the lap splice at the midspan were made and flexural tests were performed under two-point loading. The length of lap splice are varied from 0.4ld through 0.7ld and up to 1.0ld where ld is the development length of the reinforcement. The selected scales are 1/1, 1/5, 1/10 and 1/12. Two prototype specimens and three models were tested in addition to the associated material tests and the test results are compared from the viewpoint of similitude.

The use of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) bars has been gaining popularity in the civil engineering community, as an alternative material to steel reinforcement, for their noncorrosive nature and high strength-to-weight ratio. Good performance of reinforced concrete requires adequate interfacial bond between the reinforcing material and the concrete because the load applied must be transferred from the matrix to the reinforcement. Although studies on the FRP bond behavior under monotonic loading has been reported by many, there are very little work done under cyclic loading. In this paper, we present the experimental study on the bond behavior of three different types of FRP rebars subjected to four different cyclic loading conditions.

In this study, authors attempted to determine the bond behavior characteristics to utilize Grid typed CFRP reinforcement as an alternative to steel rebar used as concrete reinforcement. Since it is difficult to understand the influence of the transverse grid length of the Grid typed CFRP reinforcement in the existing numerical analysis proposal for bond behavior, a nonlinear 3D model was created and finite element analysis was performed. To perform the analysis, the analysis was conducted by inputting a nonlinear material model and modeling the bond interface characteristics between the Grid typed CFRP reinforcement and concrete and comparing them with the actual direct pull-out test results. The bond behavior characteristics of the Grid typed CFRP reinforcement were found to be very dominated by the factors of the transverse grid, and showed a tendency to continuously increase load.
