The sulfur pressure and TRA(rapid thermal annealing) conditions of the fabricated SrS:CuCl TFEL devices were optimized to improve blue color luminance. The thickness of the phosphor layer of SrS:CuCl TFEL devices fabricated by electron beam deposition system was 6000 ~ 8000 ${\AA}$. The fabricated TFEL devices were annealed at 800 $^{\circ}C$ for 3 min. It was shown that the crystallinity of SrS:CuCl phosphor was improved by an increase in RTA temperature and RTA time. Blue color was emitted from the TFEL device with emission peak wavelength of 468 nm and 500 nm. The CIE color coordinates were x = 0.21, y = 0.33. The luminance($L_{40}$) of TFEL device strongly depended on the sulfur pressure of deposition chamber and increased from 262 cd/$m^2$ to 728 cd/m2 as the sulfur pressure increased from $8{\times}10^{-6}$ torr to $2{\times}10^{-5}$ torr.

White-light-emitting ZnS:Mn, Cu, Cl phosphors with spherical shape and the size of $20\;{\mu}m$ are successfully synthesized. They have the double phases of cubic and hexagonal structures. They are applied to electroluminescent (EL) devices by silk screen method with the following structure: $electrode/BaTiO_3$ insulator layer ($50{\sim}60\;{\mu}m$)/ ZnS:Mn, Cu, Cl phosphor layer ($30{\sim}50\;{\mu}m$)/ITO glass. The EL devices are driven with the voltage of 100 V and the frequency of 400 Hz. The EL devices show the three emission peaks. The blue and green emission bands are originated from $CICu^{2+}$ transition and $ClCu^+$ transition, respectively. The yellow emission band results from $^4T^6A$ transition of $Mn^{2+}$ ion. As an increase of Cu concentrations, the blue and green emission intensities decrease whereas the yellow emission intensity increases; the quality becomes warm white. It is due to the energy transfer from the blue and green bands to the yellow band.

For two well-known modulation methods, stepwise current modulation (SCM) and pulse width modulation (PWM), the effects of driving current modulation conditions on chromaticity were experimentally investigated in a white LED lighting system. For the experimental implementation of both SCM and PWM, a white LED lighting was fabricated using phosphor converted (PC) white light emitting diodes (LEDs) and a driving circuit module was developed. By using them, the variations of illuminance, color coordinates, and spectrum were evaluated under various forward current conditions. Through the analysis in color coordinates, yellow shift in SCM and blue shift in PWM were observed on chromaticity diagrams with increasing average driving current. In addition, in order to analyze color deviation quantitatively, color distance before and after current increase, and the correlated color temperature (CCT) were calculated. As a result, for the white LED lighting in both modulation conditions, the maximum difference in the calculated CCT was obtained close to 1000 K. It means that careful consideration is required to be taken in the design of illumination systems to avoid serious problems such industrial accidents.
The properties of $Al_2O_3$ thermoluminescent phosphor have been observed to apply for gamma dosimetry in vivo. Glow peaks at 380, 420, 490 kelvin temperature with emission in the blue region have been detected and calculated as 1.4 eV the activation energy by means of heat response rising time method. Sensitization and supralinearity in $Al_2O_3$ phosphor could be consistently explained by the deep trap model. Studies of the thermoluminescence growth rate with gamma ray exposure showed linearly to $10^4$ Roentgen and then supralinear rate detected 1.2 power of exposure dose sensitization of $Al_2O_3$ is described five times more than TLD-100 and the fading time is shorter and then tried to apply for gamma dosimetry in vivo.

The objective of this study is to coat the $SiO_2$ layer uniformly on the ZnS:Cu phosphors by using Sol-Gel method. From results of SEM micrographs observation, XRD and XPS analysis, it could be confirmed that $SiO_2$ layer was relatively well coated on ZnS:Cu particles. $Ag_2S$ was used as a decoding chemical to analyze the dense and uniform coating performance of $SiO_2$ layer on phosphor particles. It could be concluded that phosphors synthesized from our two step replacement method showed strong blue peak comparing to other method and rather weak green peak also. Obtained particle size of phosphors were about 20m diameter. Luminescence properties of the phosphors were examined by photoluminescence spectra at the excitation wavelength of 270 nm.
The single phase $Ba_2SiS_4$ doped with $Eu^{2+}$ was successfully synthesized by direct sulfurization of an oxide precursor prepared by a spray drying method using a novel water soluble silicon compound, which remains soluble in a given aqueous solution. The intensity of the emission peak of thus obtained $Ba_2SiS_4:Eu^{2+}$ was 1.75 times larger than that of a sample prepared by a solid state reaction method, and it approached 106% compared to one of the best commercially available YAG:$Ce^{3+}$ phosphor.
Recently, display technology has been focused in regard with with color reproduction, contrast ratio, image resolution and color bit. Among these technologies, the color reproducibliity of White, Red, Green, and Blue is associated with the TV plaform and is expressed as a major technology. Major TV platforms are divided into three categories since 2015, including LCD-based phosphor coverted LED BLU technology, QD sheet technology using nano-sized quantum dots, and OLED technology. In this paper, we describe the color reproducibility definition and background, luminescent materials with wide color gamut, color reproducibility of TV display performance, and discuss about next luminescent materials.

Phosphor powders of zinc gal late added with Mg and rare-earth elements were prepared by sol id state reaction to improve luminescent properties. Green emitting $ZnMnGa_{2}O_{4}$ reached maximum intensity at Mn=0,005 mole$\%$ and further improvement was achieved by addition of $Mg^{2+}$. Tm, Mg-added zinc gallate phosphor exhibited a strong blue band emission, peaking at about 420 nm with the maximum intensity at the concentration of 0.003 mole$\%$ Mg and 0.015 mole$\%$ Tm. Deepening of the potential wells of the ground and excited states was suggested to be the cause for the enhancement in emission intensity at optimal doping of Mg and Tm.
A series of Ca1-xSrxS:Eu (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0) phosphors were synthesized by solid-state reactions. The Ca1-xSrxS:Eu phosphors have a strong absorption at 455 nm, which corresponds to the emission wavelength of a blue LED. The emission peak of Ca1-xSrxS:Eu is blue shifted from 655 to 618 nm with increasing Sr content. The characteristics of Ca1-xSrxS:Eu phosphors make them suitable for use as wavelengthtunable red-emitting phosphors for three-band white LEDs pumped by a blue LED. In support of this, we fabricated a three-band white LED by coating SrGa2S4:Eu and Ca0.6Sr0.4S:Eu phosphors onto a blue LED chip, and characterized its optical properties.

To prepare $Mn^{4+}$-activated $K_2TiF_6$ phosphor, a precipitation method without using hydrofluoric acid (HF) was designed. In the synthetic reaction, to prevent the decomposition of $K_2MnF_6$, which is used as a source of $Mn^{4+}$ activator, $NH_5F_2$ solution was adopted in place of the HF solution. Single phase $K_2TiF_6$:$Mn^{4+}$ phosphors were successfully synthesized through the designed reaction at room temperature. To acquire high luminance of the phosphor, the reaction conditions such as the type and concentration of the reactants were optimized. Also, the optimum content of $Mn^{4+}$ activator was evaluator based on the emission intensity. Photoluminescence properties such as excitation and emission spectrum, decay curve, and temperature dependence of PL intensity were investigated. In order to examine the applicability of this material to a white LED, the electroluminescence property of a pc-WLED fabricated by combining the $K_2TiF_6$:$Mn^{4+}$ phosphor with a 450 nm blue-LED chip was measured.
