We have synthesized a $Eu^{2+}-activated\;{(Sr,Ba)}_2SiO_4$ yellow phosphor and investigated the development of blue LEDs by combining the phosphor with a InGaN blue LED chip (${\lambda}_{em}$=405 nm). The InGaN-based ${(Sr,Ba)}_2SiO_{4}:Eu$ LED lamp shows two bands at 405 nm and 550 nm. The 405 nm emission band is due to a radiative recombination from a InGaN active layer. This 405 nm emission was used as an optical transition of the ${(Sr,Ba)}_2SiO_{4}:Eu$ phosphor. The 550 nm emission band is ascribed to a radiative recombination of $Eu^{2+}$ impurity ions in the ${(Sr,Ba)}_2SiO_4$ host matrix. In the preparation of UV Yellow LED Lamp with ${(Sr,Ba)}_2SiO_{4}:Eu$ yellow phosphor, the highest luminescence efficiency was obtained at the epoxy-to-yellow phosphor ratio of 1:0.45. At this ratio, the CIE chromaticity was x=0.4097 and y=0.5488.

We synthesized a series of $CaS_{1-x}Se_x:Eu$ red-emitting phosphors for application in phosphor-converted three-band white light emitting diode(LED). The photoluminescence and structural properties of $CaS_{1-x}Se_x:Eu$ were examined. The $CaS_{1-x}Se_x:Eu$ phosphors have a strong absorption at 455 nm, which is the emission wavelength of a blue LED. CaS:Eu has a red omission peak at 651 nm due to the $4f^65d^1(T_{2g}){\rightarrow}4f^7(^8S_{7/2})$ transition of the $Eu^{2+}$. The emission peak of $CaS_{1-x}Se_x:Eu$ is shifted from 651 to 598 nm with increasing Se content. $CaS_{1-x}Se_x:Eu$ can be used as wavelength-tunable red-emitting phosphors pumped by a blue LED. We also fabricated a three-band white LED by doping $SrGa_2S_4:Eu$ and $CaS_{0.50}Se_{0.50}:Eu$ phosphors onto a blue LED chip.

The purpose of this study is to solve the problems of radio frequency bandwidth frequency depletion, confusion possibilities, and security that are in current wireless communications systems, and to confirm the possibility of applying those solutions for the next generation network. To solve the problems of the current wireless communications system, a visible light communications system for power line communication (PLC) via 8-bit microcontroller is created and the capacity is analyzed. The exclusive PLC chip APLC-485MA, an 8-bit ATmega16 microcontroller, high brightness 5pi light emitting diodes (LEDs), and the LLS08-A1 visible light-receiving sensor were used for the transmitter and receiver. The performance was analyzed using a designed program and an oscilloscope. The voltage change was measured as a function of distance from 10-50 cm. Blue LEDs showed the best performance among the measured LED types, with 0.47 V of voltage loss, but for a distance over 50 cm, precise data was not easy to obtain due to the weak light. To overcome these types of problems, specific values such as the changing conditions and efficiency value relevant to the light emitting parts and the visible light-receiving sensor should be calculated, and continuous study and improvements should also be realized for better communication conditions.
Recently, the on-chip autofocus (AF) function has become essential to the CMOS image sensor. An auto-focus usually operates using phase detection of the photocurrent difference from a pair of AF pixels that have focused or defocused. However, the phase-detection method requires a pair of AF pixels for comparison of readout. Therefore, the pixel variation may reduce AF performance. In this paper, we propose a color-selective AF pixel with a plasmonic nanostructure in a 0.9 μ㎡ pixel. The suggested AF pixel requires one pixel for AF function. The plasmonic nanostructure uses metal-insulator-metal (MIM) stack arrays instead of a color filter (CF). The color filters are formed at the subwavelength, and they transmit the specific wavelength of light according to the stack period and incident angles. For the optical analysis of the pixel, a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation was conducted. The analysis showed that the MIM stack arrays in the pixels perform as an AF pixel. As the primary metric of AF performance, the resulting AF contrasts are 1.8 for the red pixels, 1.6 for green, and 1.5 blue. Based on the simulation results, we confirmed the autofocusing performance of the MIM stack arrays.

For a cosmetic plant wastewater containing surfactants of high concentration, adsorption treatment by granular activated carbon(GAC) having different pore size distribution was studied. Three sorts GACs were used and regenerated afterwards with methanol. Experiments were composed of batch process and column test for both virgin and regenerated GACs. Following conclusions were drawn from the study: Methylene blue activating substance(MBAS) adsorption data from the batch tests for three GACs are described well by BET isotherm and Freundich isotherm. Simulation with the BET isotherm shows that maximum adsorption appears to be affected not only by specific surface area but also by pore size distribution. Maximum adsorption from the BET isotherm for MBAS appears to diminish as the number of reactivation increases. The diminishing ratio of maximum adsorption appears to decrease as the pore size decreases. Recovery ratio of the methanol by vacuum evaporation from the spent methanol ranges from 95% to 97%.

In this study, a standard illuminant A type LED that has similar emission spectrum as the standard illuminant A was developed using LED chip(emission peak: 405[nm]) and four types of phosphors(blue, green orangered and red). Using the design of experiment for spectrum control, the trend of the change of spectrum shape influenced by the change of interaction among phosphors and their density could be examined. Computer simulation through the optimization of the design of experiment revealed that, among four phosphors, the most influential one on the shape of the spectrum was green phosphor. Using the obtained optimal combination ratio of the four phosphors, an alternative LED illuminant to the actual standard illuminant A was developed and the spectrums of these two were confirmed identical. Using this standard illuminant A type LED, a portable transmittance meter with the range of measurement error of ${\pm}1.0$[%] was developed.
Deep red EuSi2O2N2 phosphors were synthesized under various sintering gas pressures (1 atm, 2 atm, and 3 atm). They were in good agreement with the standard EuSi2O2N2 ICSD card # 41-6046 (a monoclinic crystal system with space group of P21/a). Their photoluminescence intensities were significantly increased with increasing the gas pressures. They showed a broad band emission peaking at 680 nm due to 4f65d1 - 4f7 of Eu2+ ion, which can be efficiently excited in the visible range up to 550 nm. The best one at 3 atm was applied for red LED based on blue chip, which showed the strong deep red emission.

This study is to solve problems of depletion of RF bandwidth frequency, confusion possibility, security that current wireless communications system have and is to confirm possibility of applying next generation network. To solve problems of current wireless communications system, visible light communications system for power line communications using ATmega16 Microcontroller is was realized and receiver property was analyzed. PLC exclusive chip APLC-485MA, Microcontroller ATmega16, 5pi bulb type LED and high flux LED, visible light receiving sensor LLS08-A1 were used for transmitter and receiver. Performance was analyzed by designed program and an oscilloscope. It was showed average 20% improved receiver rate rather than bulb type LED in the case of high flux LED through voltage change rate on communication distance and LED type of distance between 10 to 50 cm. The blue LED showed the best performance among measured LED types with above 10% of voltage decreasing rate. But As it gradually becomes more distant, the precise date was difficult to obtain due to weak light. White LEDs (light-emitting diodes) are promising new-generation light sources which can replace conventional lamps due to their high reliability, low energy consumption and eco-friendly effects. This paper briefly reviews recent progress of oxy/nitride host phosphor and quantum dot materials with broad excitation band characteristics for phosphor-converted white LEDs. Among oxy/nitride host materials, $M_2Si_5N_8:Eu^{2+}$, $MAlSiN_3:Eu^{2+}$ M-SiON(M=Ca, Sr, Ba), ${\alpha}/{\beta}-SiAlON:Eu^{2+}$ are excellent phosphors for white LED using blue-emitting chip. They have very broad excitation bands in the range of 440-460 nm and exhibit emission from green to red. In this paper, In this review we focus on recent developments in the crystal structure, luminescence and applications of the oxy/nitride phosphors for white LEDs. In addition, the application prospects and current trends of research and development of quantum dot phosphors are also discussed.
In the 21st century, white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are widely used as backlighting for liquid crystal displays and as a light source for general illumination. However, white LEDs used in lighting often use a single yellow phosphor on top of a blue LED chip, which lacks the ability to reproduce natural colors in objects under conventional illumination accurately. Recently, researchers have been actively working on realizing high color-rendering lighting by incorporating red quantum dots to improve the spectrum in the long-wavelength band, which is deficient in conventional white LEDs. In particular, how to develop and apply remote quantum dot components to ensure long-term reliability is currently under active research. This paper introduces recent research on remote quantum dot components and the current status of developing high color-rendering lightings with them. Especially, we focus on various factors that are important to consider in optimizing the optical structure of the quantum dot components and discuss the future directions and prospects of research for high color-rendering lighting technology.
