  • The blower which is installed in a FCEV(fuel cell electric vehicle) may cause noise due to misalignment and unbalance of mechanical components that rotate at high speed. One of the key points in efforts to minimize the noise radiation from a blower is the knowledge of the main radiating component and the relation between the surface vibration of a blower and the sound pressure. In this research, the blower model is developed based on FEM(finite element method). FE(finite element) model is reliable by correlation of frequencies and MAC(modal assurance criterion) values between EMA(experimental modal analysis) and FEA(finite element analysis). This model is applied to predict the vibration of a blower by using inverse force identification method and predict the radiating noise by using BEM(boundary element method). Comparing the frequencies of resonance and those mode shapes between EMA and FEA, a structural modification of the FE model is evaluated for reducing the parameters of the blower noise.

  • The changes of the main body temperature of a I tube 2 chamber bent silkworm type dyeing machine and the reduction of energy consumption of the dyeing machine by the energy saving design are reported. This dyeing machine was developed for the purpose of the energy saving and high efficiency. In this study, the changes of the main body temperature of the 1 tube 2 chamber bent silkworm type dyeing machine were studied experimentally. Especially the effect of the blower motor electric current and the main body pressure at various blower frequencies were studied experimentally. In the experimental data for the changes of main body temperature, it was shown that the main body temperature increased as the blower motor electric current and the main body pressure increased.

  • In the present study, a computational analysis of the flow in a centrifugal blower is carried out to predict a performance and to explain noise characteristics of the blower. Unsteady, 3D Navier-Stokes equations were solved with k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model using CFX software. CFD results were compared with the experimental data that is acquired from an experiment conducted with the same blower. The pressure fluctuation in the blower was transformed into the frequency domain by Fourier decomposition to find the relationship between flow behaviors and noise characteristics. Sound pressure level (SPL) which is obtained from wall pressure fluctuation at impeller outlet represents relative overall sound level of the blower well. Sound spectra show that there are some specific peak frequencies at each mass flow rate and it can be explained by flow pattern.

  • A seismic analysis is one of crucial design procedures of an axial blower used in nuclear power Plants. The blower should be operated even in ar emergency such as an earthquake. The blower should be designed in order to stand against an earthquake. For the seismic analysis, Ive perform the modal analysis and then evaluate the required response spectrum (PRS) from the given floor response spectrum (FRS). A finite element model of the blower is established by using a commercial FEM code of ANSYS. After the finite element modeling. the natural frequencies. the mode shapes and the participation factors are obtained from the modal analysis. The PRS is acquired by a numerical approach on the basis of the principle of mode superposition. We verify the structura safety of the axial blower and confirm the validity of the present seismic analysis results.

  • An analysis of the turbo-blower shaft attached to fuel cell using 3-D FEA (Finite Element Analysis) is proposed by Lanczos algorithm. The modal analysis was peformed in order to investigate natural frequencies for 10 times. It is found that the first mode of natural frequency is 111.243 and the maximum displacement is 0.16mm Consequently, It is found that the dynamic design of turbo-blower shows a good responses transiently.

  • To predict the noise and vibration characteristics of induction motor system, it is necessary to develop the mathematical model including all the mechanical elements such as shaft, blower, rotor, fan, bearing, case and mounting parts. Coupling effect between case-mount system and rotor- shaft system including shaft, blower, rotor, fan and bearing is examined. Impact exciting experimentation was done in order to verify vibration model of the induction motor system. From experimental results, we can appreciate that the natural frequencies of induction motor system are in good agrements with analysis.

  • The seismic design for an axial blower is the procedure in which the required response spectrum (RRS) is computed by using the floor response spectrum (FRS). The seismic design is very important to reduce severe damages from an earthquake; therefore, the seismic design has been a great concern in engineering society. In this study, after finite element modeling is established by using Ansys, the modal data are obtained such as the natural frequencies, the participation factor, and so on. With these data, the RRS is acquired by a numerical approach. The seismic safety of the axial blower is evaluated.
