In this paper, we investigated the effect of hydrogen-plasma (H-plasma) treatment on the electrical and optical properties of a quantum dot infrared photodetector (QDIP) with a 5-stacked InAs dots in an InGaAs/GaAs well structure and $Al_{0.3}Ga_{0.7}As/GaAs$ SL (superlattice) current blocking layer. It has been observed that H-plasma treatment didn't affect the band structure of QDIP. It has been also observed that the H-plasma treatment on the QDIP not only enhance the electrical property of QDIP by curing the defect channels in $Al_{0.3}Ga_{0.7}As/GaAs$ SL but also introduce defects in QDIP structure. The H-plasma treatment for 10 min with 20 W of RF power provided the lowest dark current, which made it possible to measure the photo-current (PC) of QDIP whose PC was not detectable without the H-plasma treatment due to the high dark current.
Planar BiVO4 and 3 wt% Mo-doped BiVO4 (abbreviated as Mo:BiVO4) film were prepared by the facile spin-coating method on fluorine doped SnO2(FTO) substrate in the same precursor solution including the Mo precursor in Mo:BiVO4 film. After annealing at a high temperature of 450℃ for 30 min to improve crystallinity, the films exhibited the monoclinic crystalline phase and nanoporous architecture. Both films showed no remarkably discrepancy in crystalline or morphological properties. To investigate the effect of surface passivation exploring the Al2O3 layer, the ultra-thin Al2O3 layer with a thickness of approximately 2 nm was deposited on BiVO4 film using the atomic layer deposition (ALD) method. No distinct morphological modification was observed for all prepared BiVO4 and Mo:BiVO4 films. Only slightly reduced nanopores were observed. Although both samples showed some reduction of light absorption in the visible wavelength after coating of Al2O3 layer, the Al2O3 coated BiVO4 (Al2O3/BiVO4) film exhibited enhanced photoelectrochemical performance in 0.5 M Na2SO4 solution (pH 6.5), having higher photocurrent density (0.91 mA/㎠ at 1.23 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), briefly abbreviated as VRHE) than BiVO4 film (0.12 mA/㎠ at 1.23 VRHE). Moreover, Al2O3 coating on the Mo:BiVO4 film exhibited more enhanced photocurrent density (1.5 mA/㎠ at 1.23 VRHE) than the Mo:BiVO4 film (0.86 mA/㎠ at 1.23 VRHE). To examine the reasons, capacitance measurement and Mott-Schottky analysis were conducted, revealing that the significant degradation of capacitance value was observed in both BiVO4 film and Al2O3/Mo:BiVO4 film, probably due to degraded capacitance by surface passivation. Furthermore, the flat-band potential (VFB) was negatively shifted to about 200 mV while the electronic conductivities were enhanced by Al2O3 coating in both samples, contributing to the advancement of PEC performance by ultra-thin Al2O3 layer.

Most of the conventional breakwaters impermeable breakwaters which block seawater exchange between the outside and inside of the harbors. The blocking of seawater exchange may cause pollution of water in harbors. To solve the water pollution problem, various kinds of seawater exchange breakwaters have been proposed. Their types can be classified into the current type which uses tidal current, and the overtopping type which uses the wave energy. The overtopping type breakwaters require a discharge coefficient to calculate the rate of overtopping into the harbor. The present study is to compute the rate of overtopping with introduction of a correct discharge coefficient and to evaluate the effect of the overtopping type breakwater on the water qualify inside a harbor. The rate of overtopping was computed by using Forchheimer formula with time dependent mild-slope equation for various wave conditions. The formula has been generally used to calculate the overflow discharge in steady state river flows. The discharge coefficient, which is the key parameter of the calculation, was determined by a series of hydraulic model tests. The present scheme was applied to the seawater exchange section of the western breakwater of Jeju New Harbor's and the efficiency of that section was examined. The calculated results showed that the rate of overtopping into the harbor reached about $27.5m^3/s$ in the wave condition (wave height 3.7 m, wave period 8.5s, and wave direction NNW).
Regular exercise is effective in preventing coronary disease such as angina pectoris and infarction, inside it can lower the blood pressure and aids in weight control and release of stress. Risk factors of arteriosclerosis is hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity and excessive smoking. Arteriosclerosis begins at young age worsens with age, particulary in male. For people with risk factors of arteriosclerosis, it is important to prevent arteriosclerosis-related disease with dietary, living pattern and exercise prescription. Dietary fibers promote exercise of the digestive tract and shortens the time food remains inside the digestive tract. It can prevent obesity, hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis and colin cancer by blocking the absorption of cholesterol. Various vegetables and sea foods are lichen unsaturated fats and prevent the absorption of cholesterol inside the digestive tract. Essential fatty acids and unsaturated fats which are contained in vegetable oils, promotes metabolism while preventing absorption. In fruits, pectin water-soluble fiber, is present and lowers the level of cholesterol. By consuming foods that low in cholesterol and saturated fats, and rich in unsaturated fats, aliomentotherapy alone can reduce the plasma cholesterol by 10~l5$\%$. For ideal exercise, it should be aerobic with intensity of 60~80$\%$ HRmax, duration of 15~60min/day. The frequancy of 3~6/week is desirable the better exercise prescription is endurance aerobic exercise. To get more effect exercise, exercise consistency is very important.
A psychrotrophic bacterial strain, Pseudomonas fluorescens BM07, synthesized unsaturated fatty acids (UFA) from fructose in response to lowering of growth temperature, and incorporated them into both polyhydroxyalkanoic acid (PHA) and membrane lipid. The blocking of PHA synthesis by adding 5 mM 2-bromooctanoic acid to the growth medium, containing 70 mM fructose, was found to be a useful means to profile the composition of membrane lipid by gas chromatography. As the growth temperature changed from 35 to $50^{\circ}C$, the total content of two UFA, 3-hydroxy-cis-5dodecenoic acid ($C_{12:1}$) and 3-hydroxy-cis-7-tetradecenoic acid ($C_{14:1}$), in PHA increased from 31 to 44 $mol\%$. The growth at lower temperatures also led to an increase in the level of two major UFA, palmitoleic acid (C16:1 cis9) and cis-vaccenic acid (C18:1 cis11), in membrane lipid. A fraction of these membrane-lipid UFA was converted to their corresponding cyclopropane fatty acids (CFA). The CFA conversion was a function of culture time, exhibiting biphasic increase before and after entering the stationary phase. However, pH changes in growth media had no effect on the CFA conversion, which is contrary to the case of E. coli reported. The cells grown at $30^{\circ}C$ responded to a cold shock (lowering the medium temperature down to $10^{\circ}C$) by increasing the level of C16:1 cis9 and C 18: I cis II up to that of $10^{\circ}C$-grown control cells and concomitantly decreasing the relative level of cis-9,10methylenehexadecanoic acid (the CFA converted from C16:1 cis9) from 14 to 8 $mol\%$, whereas the 10-grown cells exhibited little change in the lipid composition when exposed to a warmer environment of $30^{\circ}C$ for 12 h. Based on this one- way response, we suggest that this psychrotrophic strain responds more efficiently and sensitively to a cold shock than to a hot shock. It is also suggested that BM07 strain is a good producer of two unsaturated 3-hydroxyacids, $C_{12:1}\;and\;C_{141:1}$.

This randomized pre-post-controlled experimental study determined the effect on patients' anxiety, stress, systolic blood pressure, heart rate and Bis index when the Healing Beats program is applied after epidural blockage. The subjects were selected from the patients who visited the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain for the treatment of epidural blockage and volunteered through the recruitment announcement. A total of 74 sets of data were collected and analyzed with 25 subjects in the experimental group, 24 in the placebo group, and 25 in the control group. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, x2-tests, F-tests and repeated measures of ANOVA. As a result of the study, the general characteristics and variables of the experimental group, placebo group, and control group were all the same, and anxiety was measured twice before and after the study. There were significant differences between groups (F=27.175, p<.001), and stress (F=4.78, p<.001), heart rate (F=4.22, p<.001) and the Bis index (F=7.96, p<.001) were analyzed by variance according to population and time. There was a significant difference. However, there was no significant difference in systolic blood pressure (F=1.23, p=.298). In conclusion, the Healing Beats program can be used as an effective and effective intervention for sedation in clinical situations or stressful situations.
Previous research has shown that aging asymmetrically affects various functions in language. It is known that older adults show deficits in language production compared to young adults, while the performance in semantic processing is similar between older and young adults. The tip-of-the-tongue (TOT) phenomenon effectively reflects failure in retrieval of phonological knowledge. Older adults report TOTs more often than young adults and the cause of this phenomenon has been explained by two frameworks: the 'blocking hypothesis' and 'transmission deficit hypothesis'. This study examines the effect of aging on the retrival of phonological knowledge by inducing TOTs in the laboratory. Two variables were manipulated: age and word category. Participants were young and older adults, and stimuli was selected from 5 categories of words. After the participants read a definition about a target word, they reported three conditions: 'know', 'don't know', 'TOT'. The results were as follows: First, the older adults reported TOTs more often than the young adults. Second, TOTs occurred more in proper nouns such as names of persons and places. Third, in the category that TOTs occurred more often, there was a bigger age difference. Fourth, older adults reported fewer alternative words during TOT than young adults. Fifth, participants tended to report the partial information during TOT in characters. These results show the age-related difficulty in the retrieval of phonological knowledge in Korean. It is explained by the transmission deficit hypothesis and the characteristics of Korean orthography and phonology.
The author examined the effects of lidocaine on the veratrine-or potassium-induced release of neurotransmitters to determine the possible role of amino acid neurotransmitters in lidocaine-induced convulsion. The examined transmitters were gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), aspartic acid, glutamic acid and norepinephrine which are released from the synaptosomes. Furthermore, the effects of lidocaine on the binding to receptors and synaptosomal uptake of the two transmitters, GABA and glutamic acid, were determined in crude synaptic membranes and synaptosomes. In addition, the effects of propranolol, norepinephrine and serotonin on the release of amino acid neurotransmitters were also examined. The veratrine-induced release of GABA was most severely inhibited by lidocaine and propranolol, while norepinephrine and serotonin reduced the release of aspartic acid and glutamic acid more than the GABA release. Generally the potassium-induced release was much more resistant to the lidocaine action than the veratrine-induced release. Among the neurotransmitters examined, the aspartic acid release was most prone to the lidocaine action, while the GABA release was most resistant. Concentrations of lidocaine below 1 mM did not significantly change the GABA and glutamic acid receptor binding and uptake. These results indicate that the blocking of sodium channels by lidocaine can result in the selective depression of the GABA release. This may result in unlimited excitation of the central nervous system.
The aim of this study was to determine whether fimasartan, a newly developed $AT_1$ receptor blocker, can affect the CA release in the isolated perfused model of the adrenal medulla of spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs). Fimasartan (5~50 ${\mu}M$) perfused into an adrenal vein for 90 min produced dose- and time-dependently inhibited the CA secretory responses evoked by ACh (5.32 mM), high $K^+$ (56 mM, a direct membrane depolarizer), DMPP (100 ${\mu}M$) and McN-A-343 (100 ${\mu}M$). Fimasartan failed to affect basal CA output. Furthermore, in adrenal glands loaded with fimasartan (15 ${\mu}M$), the CA secretory responses evoked by Bay-K-8644 (10 ${\mu}M$, an activator of L-type $Ca^{2+}$ channels), cyclopiazonic acid (10 ${\mu}M$, an inhibitor of cytoplasmic $Ca^{2+}$-ATPase), and veratridine (100 ${\mu}M$, an activator of $Na^+$ channels) as well as by angiotensin II (Ang II, 100 nM), were markedly inhibited. In simultaneous presence of fimasartan (15 ${\mu}M$) and L-NAME (30 ${\mu}M$, an inhibitor of NO synthase), the CA secretory responses evoked by ACh, high $K^+$, DMPP, Ang II, Bay-K-8644, and veratridine was not affected in comparison of data obtained from treatment with fimasartan (15 ${\mu}M$) alone. Also there was no difference in NO release between before and after treatment with fimasartan (15 ${\mu}M$). Collectively, these experimental results suggest that fimasartan inhibits the CA secretion evoked by Ang II, and cholinergic stimulation (both nicotininc and muscarinic receptors) as well as by membrane depolarization from the rat adrenal medulla. It seems that this inhibitory effect of fimasartan may be mediated by blocking the influx of both $Na^+$ and $Ca^{2+}$ through their ion channels into the rat adrenomedullary chromaffin cells as well as by inhibiting the $Ca^{2+}$ release from the cytoplasmic calcium store, which is relevant to $AT_1$ receptor blockade without NO release.
This study was aimed to develop an instrument for real-time measurement of fluid conductance and to investigate the hydrodynamics of dentinal fluid. The instrument consisted of three parts; (1) a glass capillary and a photo sensor for detection of fluid movement, (2) a servo-motor, a lead screw and a ball nut for tracking of fluid movement, (3) a rotary encoder and software for data processing. To observe the blocking effect of dentinal fluid movement, oxalate gel and self-etch adhesive agent were used. BisBlock (Bisco) and Clearfil SE Bond (Kuraray) were applied to the occlusal dentin surface of extracted human teeth. Using this new device, the fluid movement was measured and compared between before and after each agent was applied. The instrument was able to measure dentinal fluid movement with a high resolution (0.196 nL) and the flow occurred with a rate of 0.84 to 15.2 nL/s before treatment. After BisBlock or Clearfil SE Bond was used, the fluid movement was decreased by 39.8 to 89.6%.
