  • Turbo code has been adopted in the 3GPP standard, since its performance is very close to the Shannon limit. However, the turbo decoder requires a lot of computations and the amount of the memory increases as the block size of turbo codes becomes larger. In order to reduce the complexity of the turbo decoder, the Log-MAP, the Max-Log-MAP and the sliding window algorithm have been proposed. In this paper, the performance of turbo codes adopted in the 3GPP standard is analyzed by using the floating point and the fixed point implementation. The efficient decoding method is also proposed. It is shown that the BER performance of the proposed method is close to that of the Log-MAP algorithm.

  • This paper is the FPGA Implementation of Reed-Solomon Encoder that is one of Error control Codes. Reed-Solomon codes are block-based error control codes with a wide range of applications in digital communications. RS codes are strong on burst errors because it process signals as symbol. We simulate this system using Matlab from Mathworks and design it using System Generator from Xilinx. We refer Matlab source in Implementation of Reed-Solomon Error Control Coding for Compressed Images by Simon Anthony Raspa.

  • QR Code is a two-dimensional code in the form of a matrix that contains data in a square-shaped black-and-white grid pattern, and has recently been used in various fields. In particular, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the usage increased rapidly by identifying the movement path in the form of a QR code that anyone can easily and conveniently use. As such, Qshing attacks and damages using QR codes are increasing in proportion to the usage of QR codes. Therefore, in this paper, a system was implemented to block movement to harmful sites and installation of malicious codes when scanning QR codes.

  • In this paper, we develop a machine learning based block code generation and recommendation model for the purpose of reducing cognitive load of learners during coding education that learns the learner's block that has been made in the block programming environment using natural processing model and fine-tuning and then generates and recommends the selectable blocks for the next step. To develop the model, the training dataset was produced by pre-processing 50 block codes that were on the popular block programming language web site 'Entry'. Also, after dividing the pre-processed blocks into training dataset, verification dataset and test dataset, we developed a model that generates block codes based on LSTM, Seq2Seq, and GPT-2 model. In the results of the performance evaluation of the developed model, GPT-2 showed a higher performance than the LSTM and Seq2Seq model in the BLEU and ROUGE scores which measure sentence similarity. The data results generated through the GPT-2 model, show that the performance was relatively similar in the BLEU and ROUGE scores except for the case where the number of blocks was 1 or 17.

  • Turbo codes of long block sizes have been known to show very good performance in an AWGN channel and the turbo code has been strongly recommended as error correction code for W-CDMA in 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project). Recently, turbo codes of short block sizes suitable for real time communication systems have attracted a lot of attention. Thus, in this paper we consider the turbo code of 1/3 code rate and short frame size of 192 bits in ITU-R channel model. We analyzed the performance of W-CDMA systems of 10MHz bandwidths employing RAKE receiver with not only MRC diversity but also SOVA-based turbo code.

  • The applications of CFD in the design process of a transonic civil transport at Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) are outlined. Three Navier-Stokes solvers, developed at KARI with different grid approaches, are used to predict the aerodynamic coefficients and solve the flowfield of various configurations. Multi-block, Chimera, and unstructured grids are the approaches implemented. The accuracy of the codes is verified for the transonic flow about RAE wing/fuselage configuration. The multi-block code is used to provide the detailed data on the flowfield around a wall interference model with different test section sizes which will be used in establishing the wall interference correction method. The subsonic and transonic flowfields about K100-04A, one of the configurations of a 100-seater transport developed by KARI and Korea Commercial Aircraft Development Consortium (KCDC), are computed to predict the aerodynamic coefficients. The results for the subsonic flow are compared with those of wind tunnel test, and the agreement is found to be excellent. The interference effect of nacelle installation on the wing of K100-04A is also investigated using the unstructured grid method, and about 10% reduction in wing lift is observed. The accuracy of the three developed codes is verified, and they are used as an efficient tool in the design process of a transonic transport.

  • In this paper, we derive exact closed-form formulas, in terms of Meijer's G-function, for the ergodic capacity of space-time block codes (STBCs) from generalized linear complex orthogonal designs (GLCODs) and generalized coordinate interleaved orthogonal designs (GCIODs) in quasi-static frequency-nonselective i.i.d. Nakagami-m fading channels. The derived analytical results show an excellent agreement with Monte-Carlo simulation results. Thus, a useful means for analyzing and predicting the ergodic capacity performance of STBCs from GLCODs or GCIODs can be provided in various antenna configurations and different channel conditions without extensive Monte-Carlo simulations. We present some numerical results to verify the accuracy of the derived formulas.

  • This paper presents unequal error protection and error concealment techniques far robust H.263 video transmission over mobile channels. The proposed error protection scheme has three major features. First, it has the capability of preventing the loss of synchronization information in H.263 video stream as much as possible that the H.263 decoder can resynchronize at the next decoding point, if errors are occurred. Secondly, it employs an unequal error protection scheme to support variable coding rates using rate compatible punctured convolutional (RCPC) codes, dividing the encoded stream into two classes. Finally, a macroblock-interleaving scheme is employed in order to minimize the corruption of consecutive macroblocks due to burst errors, which can make a proper condition for error concealment. In addition, to minimize the spatial error propagations due to the variable length codes, a fast resynchronization scheme at the group of block layer is developed for recovering subsequent error-free macroblocks following the damaged macroblock. futhermore, error concealment techniques based on both side match criterion and overlapped block motion compensation (OBMC) are employed at the source decoder so that it can not only recover the lost macroblock more accurately, but also reduce blocking artifacts. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme can be an effective error protection scheme since proper video quality can be maintained under various channel bit error rates.

  • Traditional block cipher Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is widely used in the field of network security, but it has high overhead on each operation. In the 15th international workshop on information security applications, a novel lightweight and low-power encryption algorithm named low-power encryption algorithm (LEA) was released. This algorithm has certain useful features for hardware and software implementations, that is, simple addition, rotation, exclusive-or (ARX) operations, non-Substitute-BOX architecture, and 32-bit word size. In this study, we further improve the LEA encryptions for cloud computing. The Web-based implementations include JavaScript and assembly codes. Unlike normal implementation, JavaScript does not support unsigned integer and rotation operations; therefore, we present several techniques for resolving this issue. Furthermore, the proposed method yields a speed-optimized result and shows high performance enhancements. Each implementation is tested using various Web browsers, such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox, and on various devices including personal computers and mobile devices. These results extend the use of LEA encryption to any circumstance.

  • This paper presents a process control language for constructing multiloop control system. which include advanced control algorithms. In order to make controller, this language uses function blocks that do specific operations. Then, the total control algorithm is a set of function blocks, of which each block is represented as a function code. The function code is a line of simple ASCII codes denoting function, input, output, parameters. It is possible to use variables as input/output port of any block. Compared with other language using function block concept, the proposed one enables to use advanced control algorithms undefinitely, such as fuzzy, neural network, predictive controller, etc., because vector and matrix variables as input/output can be used freely in this language. To raise flexibility, we put an intermediate level, which is C-language code, between function code and target-dependent operation code.
