The closed-loop multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system has been adopted by long term evolution (LTE) system. Many techniques are proposed to enhance the transmission of LTE's advanced version to meet the increasing requirement, in which differential codebook gains a lot of interest. Previous researches on designing differential codebooks focused on quasi-diagonal unitary matrix which cannot guarantee the equal gain property. The equal gain property is very important to uplink because the performance of uplink is very sensitive to the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In this paper, we derive the analytical expression of average bit error rate and PAPR for differential precoding MIMO system. Using the analytical results, we investigate the performances of several differential precoding schemes considering non-linear amplifier at the transmitter. Some selected simulation results indicate that the conventional differential precoding schemes have good performances without the consideration of non-linear amplifier. While considering non-linear amplifier, the proposed differential codebook outperforms other differential precoding schemes because it maintains the equal gain per transmit antenna.

In time-varying multipath fading channels, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) uplink systems suffer severe performance degradation caused by inter-channel interference (ICI). In this paper, we propose a hybrid interference cancellation (HIC) for suppressing the degradation effect of ICI. The proposed HIC can achieve both exact interference cancellation and low detection complexity through efficient combination of parallel detection and serial cancellation. Simulation results show that, as the effect of Doppler increases, the proposed HIC achieves bit error rate (BER) performance enhancement in compared with severe performance degradation of conventional OFDMA receivers. In addition, both the computational complexity and total detection time are reduced.
Recent works on multiuser transmission techniques have shown that the linear growth of capacity in single user MIMO system can be translated to the multiuser MIMO scenario as well. In this paper, we propose a method pursuing performance gain of vector perturbation in multiuser downlink systems. Instead of employing maximum number of mobile users for communication, we use small part of them as virtual users for improving reliability of users participating communication. By controlling parameters of virtual users including information and perturbation vector, we obtain considerable improvement in the effective SNR, resulting in large gain in bit error rate performance. Simulation results on the realistic multiuser downlink systems show that the proposed method brings substantial performance gain over the standard vector perturbation with marginal overhead in computations.

In this paper, we proposed a concept of interference load to analyze the performance of spectrum sharing technologies in unlicensed frequency bands. The interference load can quantitatively compare the technical properties of various spectrum sharing technologies, such as frequency hopping(FH), duty cycle(DC), listen-before-talk(LBT). Therefore, it can help to evaluate whether a local regulation about spectrum sharing is reasonably established or not. In order to verify the suggested concept, we applied it to 2.4 GHz frequency bands. Also, we demonstrated a real-time test-bed. Two bit error rate(BER) curves for FH with 10 random channels and DC of 10 %, show such good agreement that our proposed concept is expected to be widely used to assess various spectrum sharing technologies.
We research a system of compressed-sensing computational ghost imaging (CSCGI) based on the intensity fluctuation brought by turbulence. In this system, we used the gamma-gamma intensity-fluctuation model, which is commonly used in transmission systems, to simulate the CSCGI system. By setting proper values of the parameters such as transmission distance, refractive-index structure parameter, and sampling rates, the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) performance and bit-error rate (BER) performance are obtained to evaluate the imaging quality, which provides a theoretical model to further research the ghost-imaging algorithm.

This paper proposes a complexity reduced list sphere decoding (LSD) scheme for joint iterative soft detection scheme for coded MIMO system. The conventional LSD scheme is based on searching the candidates with a fixed radius. However, once the candidate list is full, it is highly probable that the radius can be reduced. By reducing the radius, the complexity can be also reduced. We propose a simple and efficient radius update method for complexity reduction of list version sphere decoding and its application to iterative soft MIMO detection. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme with a joint soft-input-soft-ouput iterative MIMO detection in combination with turbo codes. Simulation results show that the proposed methods provide substantial complexity reduction while achieving similar bit error rate (BER) performance as the conventional LSD scheme.

A correct and accurate model of optical data storage systems is very important in development and performance evaluation of various data detection algorithms. In this paper, we present an nonlinear modeling scheme of a super-resolution near-field structure (Super-RENS) read-out signal using the canonical piecewise-linear (PWL) and the second-order Volterra models. Nonlinear equalizers may be developed on the basis of the information obtained from this nonlinear modeling. To mitigate the nonlinear inter-symbol interference (ISI), we proposed a new nonlinear equalizer for Super-RENS discs. Its validity is tested with the RF signal samples obtained from a Super-RENS disc. The experiment results verified the possibility that the canonical PWL and the second-older Volterra models can be utilized for nonlinear modeling of Super-RENS systems. The proposed equalizers are superior to the one without equalization in terms of bit error rate (BER).

In this paper, we propose an approach to improve the data detection performance of the acoustic data transmission system based on the modulated complex lapped transform (MCLT). We first present an effective analysis of the features and the detection method of data in the acoustic data transmission system. And then feature vectors which are applied to the Gaussian mixture model (GMM) are selected from relevant parameters of the previous system for the efficient data detection. For the purpose of evaluating the performance of the proposed algorithm, Bit error rate (BER) of the received data was measured at different environments (music genres (rock, pop, classic, jazz) and different distances (1m∼5m) from the loudspeaker to the microphone in a office room) and yields better results compared with the conventional scheme of the acoustic data transmission system based on the MCLT.

In this paper, we proposed analysis additional data transmission scheme based on T-DMB system with watermarking technique for emergency broadcasting service. By applying the proposed scheme to T-DMB system, it allows additional data transmission and improves spectral efficiency of data transmission through watermarking spreading code. In the emergency situation, we can react the emergency situation using the emergency information that generated by proposed scheme. We are certified availability of our proposed technology by using various simulation. The performance is evaluated in terms of bit error rate (BER). From the simulation result, we confirmed the performance of T-DMB system embedded watermarking scheme and it is shown that system performance is affected the watermarking level. The results of the paper can be applied to wireless multimedia digital broadcasting system.

A new transmit antenna selection and shuffling($AS^2$) method for spatially correlated double space time transmit diversity(DSTTD) systems is proposed. The proposed method allows dumb antennas and the superposition of multiple signals at the same transmit antenna, whereas the conventional methods consider the antenna shuffling(AS) only. According to the simulation result, the proposed method provides a 1.8 dB signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) gain over the conventional methods for spatially correlated transmit antennas. Although the number of candidates for $AS^2$ is much higher than that of AS, it is found that the number of candidates for $AS^2$ can be reduced to 36 by using the characteristics and properties of preprocessing matrices, and among them, only 6 candidates are almost always chosen. Next, we empirically compare the bit-error-rate (BER) performance of the proposed method with the conventional spatial multiplexing(SM) technique with antenna selection. Simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms the SM technique.
