강진 인근 쥬라기 엽리상 화강암류의 CHIME 모나자이트 연대측정 (CHIME Monazite Ages of Jurassic Foliated Granites in the Vicinity of the Gangjin Area, Korea)

  • 순창전단대의 남쪽 연장이라 여겨지는 강진 인근에 분포하는 우수향 연성전단대의 엽리상 화강암류 2시료에 대한 CHIME 모나자이트 연대측정을 실시하여 중립질 흑운모 화강암과 조립질 흑운모 화강암의 관입시기에 해당하는 $183.6{\pm}2.2Ma$(MSWD=0.21)와 $171.7{\pm}4.0Ma$(MSWD=0.57)를 각각 얻었다. 이 연구의 엽리상 화강암에서 관찰되는 석영과 장석의 미구조적 특징은 순창전단대의 임실-남원 지역 쥬라기(약 180 Ma) 엽리상 화강암류에서 보고된 것과 대단히 흡사하며, 우수향의 연성전단작용이 $300{\sim}550^{\circ}C$의 온도조건에서 일어났음을 제한한다. 이 연구의 엽리상 화강암이 임실-남원 지역의 쥬라기 엽리상 화강암류와 유사한 냉각과정을 거쳤다고 가정하면 강진 지역의 우수향 전단작용의 시기는 172 Ma와 150 Ma사이에 일어났을 것이고, 이는 기존의 CHIME 모나자이트 연령에 근거한 추정보다 약 10 Ma 후기이다.

경상분지내 동광상 관련 진동화강암류에 대한 지화학적 연구 (A Geochemical Study on Jindong Granites in Relation to Copper Ore Deposits in Gyeongsang Basin)

  • Jindong Granites are plotted mainly in the region of granodiorite~diorite of the Streckeisen's diagram, while Yucheon-Eonyang Granites and Onjonri Granites in the region of monzo-granite and monzo-granite~granodiorite, respectively. Jindong Granites show a differenciation trend of calc-alkaline magma, and its magmatic evolution from intermediate to acidic rocks, which might form mineralizing solution, is consistant with the general path of the Cretaceous granitic rocks including Yucheon-Eonyang Granites and Onjongri Granites. The differenciation index (D.I.) is 35~80 for Jindong Granites, which is lower than 85~95 of Yucheon-Eonyang Granites and is partly overlapped by 67~84 of Onjongri Granites. There is clear difference in content of some major and trace elements between Jindong Granites of Cu province and the other granitic rocks of Pb-Zn and Mo provinces. Between these metallogenic provicnes, Cu content is high in Jindong Granites near Haman-Gunbuk mineralized zone, while Pb and Zn are relatively abundant in Yucheon-Eonyang Granites and Mo in Onjongri Granites. Therefore, Jindong Granites of the Cu province are distinguishable by chemical compositions and their related geochemical characteristics from the other Cretaceous granitic rocks of Pb-Zn and Mo provinces. However, the content of Cu and Cl in biotite is applicable to distinguish a productive phase from a barren phase of Jindong Granites, because Cu and Cl show a trend to be concentrated in biotite of Jindong Gratites in the Haman-Gunbuk mineralized zone.

해남지역(海南地域)에 분포(分布)된 우항리층내(牛項里層內) 흑색(黑色)셰일의 유기지화학적(有機地化學的) 연구(硏究) (Geochemical Study of Black Shale in Uhangri Formation, Haenam Area)

  • The studied area occupies the southern part of Haenam peninsula located in the southwestern corner of Korea. The stratigraphic sequences of the area are grouped into following three units in ascending order. (1) Late Cretaceous sedimentary rocks of Uhangri Formation which consist of the alternative beds of black shales and tuffaceous sediments, Hwangsan acidic fine grained tuffs and Jindo rhyolite flows. (2) Late Cretaceous biotite granite and acidic porphyries which intruded the Late Cretaceous sedimentary rocks. (3) Tertiary(?) pitchstone. The study purposes to delineate any of geochemical aspects on the deposition of the sequences, the average amounts of organic materials and the effect to the maturation of hydrocarbonization which has been occured by the intrusives. Sixty nine black shale samples were collected from Uhangri Formation in the northern and southern coasts of the peninsula. Organic carbons, total extracted organic matters and hydrocarbons were mainly determined by the Soxhlet extraction method, together with C-H-N elemental analyses. Based on the field and laboratory studies, the following interpretations have been obtained. (1) The paleohydrostatic condition of the sedimentation which took place was relatively calm and stable to delineate a lacustrine environment. (2) The amounts of organic material were more or less constant throughout the period of the deposition of the sediments. (3) The degree of hydrocarbonization of the Uhangri Formation in the northern coast was taken place higher than that in the southern coast due to the differences of thermal effect by the biotite granite which is assumed to be as a heat source in the area. Among the northern coast, some black shales in Uhangri and Mogsam areas which had been under the most moderate temperature environment snow symptomatic oily material, whereas, those in Sinseongri area do not, which were presumably to be intensive thermal alteration by the later acidic porphyries.

청양중석광상(靑陽重石鑛床)의 지질(地質)과 유체포유물(流體包有物)에 의(依)한 온도측정(溫度測定)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Geologic and Fluid Inclusion Studies of Chongyang Tungsten Ore Deposits, South Korea)

  • Chongyang tungsten ore deposits, one of the most important tungsten mines in South Korea, me open space filling hydrothermal vein deposits embedded in Precambrian biotite gneiss and, Cretaceous (?) granite porphyry. Some wolframite-bearing quartz veins are closely associated with -quartz porphyries which strike about $N15^{\circ}-25^{\circ}W$ and dip $800^{\circ}SE$ to vertical. Mineralization took place in near vertical vein systems of 5 to 2000 meter long in the biotite gneiss and granite porphyry stock during early Cretaceous and Tertiary (?) period. The hydrothermal mineral paragensis has indicated that there were two major stages: vein and vug stages. The principal vein mineral is wolframite in a gangue of quartz with small amount of fluorite, pyrite, beryl and carbonate minerals. Present in minor amounts are molybdenite, bithmuthinite, native bismuth, arsenopyrite, galena, chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite and scheelite. Fluid inclusion study from the minerls at Chongyang mine reveals that vein stage fluids attained a temperature range of $200^{\circ}C-355^{\circ}C$ and vug stage $160^{\circ}C-350^{\circ}C$. The filling temperatures show the higher range of $200^{\circ}-355^{\circ}C$ in quartz and $280^{\circ}C-348^{\circ}C$ in beryls, whereas the lower emperature range of $283^{\circ}C-295^{\circ}C$ in rhodochrosite and $160^{\circ}-253^{\circ}C$ in fluorites. These temperatures are in reasonably good agreement with mineral paragnesis in this ore deposits. Volfamite minerals were analysed for major components. $WO_3$, MnO and FeO by wet chemical method. Chemical analysis indicates that they contain 70.56-71.54% $WO_3$, 8.52-10.01% MnO and 10.00-11.58% FeO. MnO/FeO ratios of wolframites shows the range of 0.78-0.94 which maybe indicates a comparatively high temperature type of hydrothermal deposits.

동화-황학산광산의 동광화작용 (Copper Mineralization of the Donghwa and Hwanghagsan Mine)

  • Copper mineralization of the Donghwa and Hwanghagsan mines was deposited in hydrothermal quartz veins which filled fissures in Cretacous sedimentary rocks. Ore minerals are pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, bornite, galena, wittichenite and unidentified Cu-Bi-Pb-Sb-S mineral. On the basis of salinities and homogenization temperatures for fluid inclusions, the Donghwa deposit was deposited from $300^{\circ}C$ to $220^{\circ}C$ with 2.5 to 0.2 wt.% eq. NaCl, and the Hwanghagsan deposits was deposited from $300^{\circ}C$ to $160^{\circ}C$ with 4.0 to 0.0 wt.% eq. NaCl. Evidence of boiling suggests pressure of 170 to 60 bar, these pressures correspond to 1700 m to 600 m. The ${\delta}^{34}S_{H_2S}$ values of the Donghwa deposit (4.8~7.4%) are higher than those of the Hwanghagsan deposit (3.5~4.5%), sulfur isotope compositions indicate that ore fluids partially reacted with meteoric water and wall-rock. Equilibrium thermodynamic interpretation indicates that the temperature versus $fs_2$ of the Donghwa deposit (> $420^{\circ}C$, $10^{-3.2}atm$) is higher condition than that of the Hwanghagsan deposit (> $290^{\circ}C$, $10^{-7.0}atm$). K-Ar ages for biotite granite and quartz porphyry in the study area are 64.7 Ma, and 60.9 Ma, reapectively. Mineralization age using sericite in the Donghwa deposits is 59.8 Ma. Therfore, Copper mineralization in the study area was associated with acidic igneous activity such as biotite granite or quartz porphyry.

서산 마애삼존불상의 훼손상태 및 불연속면의 거동특성 (Deterioration State and Behavior of Discontinuity System of the Seosan Maaesamjonbulsang (Rock-carved Triad Buddha in Seosan), Korea)

  • 서산 마애삼존불상을 구성하는 암석은 중립질 흑운모 화강암이다. 이 삼존불은 전면에 걸쳐 절리 및 균열과 탈락, 박리박락, 표면의 결로현상 및 이차적 오염물에 의한 변색 등으로 심하게 손상된 상태이다. 이 삼존불이 조각된 암반은 다양한 형태를 갖는 수십 개의 암괴로 분리되어 있으며, 불규칙한 불연속면이 발달되어 있다. 또한 주변의 암반에는 식생이 밀집되어 습도가 높고 미생물의 오염이 가중된 상태이다. 이 암반의 구조적 안정성 검토결과, 암반에 발달한 불연속면들은 불안정한 사면 환경에 노출된 상태로서 삼존불의 구조적 안정성을 위협하고 있는 것으로 해석되었다. 따라서 암반을 포함한 주변의 식생환경에 관한 정비가 필요하며 지속적인 모니터링을 통해 보다 정밀한 암반의 거동특성을 규명해야 할 것이다.

경북지역의 먹는 물에서 우라늄 검출 특성 (Uranium in Drinking Water of Kyungpook Area in Korea)

  • 우라늄은 자연적 원인과 인위적 원인에 의해 오염이 가능하지만 국내 지하수 토양환경에서는 자연적 원인에 의한 오염 가능성이 높다. 우라늄은 방사성 독성과 화학적 독성을 동시에 갖고 있어 먹는 물에 포함될 경우 그 위해성이 매우 높다. 본 연구에서는 경북지역의 마을상수도 및 소규모 급수시설, 지하수, 샘물 및 먹는 샘물, 먹는 물 공동시설, 지하수 측정망, 민방위비상급수 등의 시료를 대상으로 우라늄 농도를 측정하였으며 국내외 수질 기준과 비교하여 오염 정도를 평가하였다. 총 803개의 시료 중 미국의 먹는 물 권고기준 또는 우리나라의 권고기준인 $30{\mu}g/{\ell}$를 초과하는 시료의 수는 6개이며 전체시료에서 차지하는 비율은 0.7%이다. 모암의 특성에 따른 우라늄의 농도는 흑운모화강섬록암, 흑운모화강암, 편마상화강암 등과 같은 화강암질 암석이 분포한 지역에서 비교적 높게 나타났다.

보존을 위한 석조문화재의 특징과 암석에 대한 연구( I ) -경기도 용인군과 이천군- (Study on the Characteristics of the Stone-Cultural Properties and Weathering Phenomena of the Rocks for Conservation( I ) - Yongin-gun and Eechon-gun, Gyeonggi-do -)

  • Stone-cultural-properties, distributed In the area, have been investigated and studied on the characteristics and the rock phases in the geological and conservational point of view. Stone-Buddhas in the area can be subdivided into Maebul-, General -, and Massive rock-types according to their styles. The rocks used in these stone-cultural-properties are mainly massive, coarse grained biotite granite of the Jurassic age, which is widely distributed around the Reckon-gun area. However, quartz-feldspathic banded gneiss, marble, phyllite and hornblendite are also used. These rocks are mainly distributed in the Yongin-gun area. This suggests that the rocks used. These rocks are strongly influenced by chemical weathering so that the rock surface is very irregular with $2\~3mm$ relief. Biotite granite used shows generally weathered surface of brown color due to chemical weathering of feldspars. Moss are pervasive partly on the surface to show black and/or green colors. The strong weathering may induce secondarily to appear the igneous lineation, onion-structure, and/or minor cracks latent in the rocks. The cultural properties In the area are relatively well conserved except Maebuls and one(Duchangri 3-story) pagoda. However, one stone-buddha may be grinded recently by machine to take off the weathered surface resulting in the loss of its age and the original detailed shape. For conservation, they must be scientifically considered on the shape, kind of the rock phase and characteristics of the weathered phenomena.

북부 옥천변성대에서 산출되는 반점상 근청석의 미시적 공생관계 및 결정구조 해석 (Fine-scale Mineral Association and Crystal Structure Refinement of Spotted Cordierite from Northern Ogcheon Metamorphic Belt)

  • Spotted cordierite occurs as the result of intrusion of Wolaksan Granite of Cretaceous age in the northern part of the Ogcheon Metamorphic Belt, forming a contact metamorphic zoning in accordance with the distance from the granite body: a cordierite-muscovite-biotite-quartz assemblage and the higher-temperature cordierite-biotite-quartz-(cummingtonite). These quartz-ubiquitous mineral assemblages identified in the cordierite spot seem to reflect Al-deficient condition of the protolith. TEM observations of textural relations between the cordierite and mica within the cordierite spot clearly reflect that cordierite was formed at the expense of micaceous matrix. A structure refinement of the poikiloblastic cordierite was performed by the Rietveld refinement method. Unit cell of the cordierite was determined to be as follows : lower-temperature type: a=17.1480(9)${\AA}$, b=9.7743(6)${\AA}$, c=9.3184(5)${\AA}$, V=1561.9(4)${\AA}$3, higher-temperature type: a=17.136(2)${\AA}$, b=9.751(1)${\AA}$, c=9.322(1)${\AA}$, V=1557.7(4)${\AA}$3. They show a remarkable difference in the unit cell dimension. The refinement results indicate that structural sites of lower-temperature cordierite are wholly occupied by appropriating ions. Compared to this, tetrahedral sites of the higher-temperature type exhibit an order/disorder ranging about 5-8% as the result of substitution between Si4+ and Al3+, except for T26 site occupied wholly by Al3+. These structural differences seem to be related to the formation temperatures of both cordierite types.

하남시 춘궁동 오층석탑의 암석학적 및 보존과학적 훼손도 평가 (Petrological and Conservational Scientific Deterioration Assessment of the Chungung-dong 5-Storied Stone Pagoda, Hanam City, Korea)

  • 춘궁동 오층석탑(보물 제12호)의 암석학적 풍화와 훼손도를 진단하였다. 이 석탑의 정면은 N30$^{\circ}$W를 향하고 있으며, 구성암석은 안구상 편마암과 흑운모 화강암이다. 석탑을 이루는 암석은 박리와 변색이 심하고, 조암광물은 화학적 및 광물학적 풍화에 의하여 점토광물로 변질되어 있다. 석탑의 표면과 부재사이에는 지의류와 이끼류의 모근 및 포자류가 기생하고 있으며, 하단부는 이미 고등식물이 천이하고 있다. 따라서 석탑의 표면에 피복된 지의류와 불연속면에 서식하고 있는 잡초를 제거하기 위한 생화학적 처리가 요구된다. 이 석탑의 구조적 안정을 위해서는 부재사이에 틈이 없도록 재조립을 해야 하며, 삽입한 철편도 제거한 후에 석조문화재 보강용 충전제를 이용한 보존처리가 필요하다. 또한 석탑에 미치는 지면의 습도를 저감하기 위한 차수층의 설치도 고려되어야 할 것이다.
