Self-Assembled Monolayers(SAMs) by alkanethiol adsorption to thin metal film are widely being investigated fer applications as coating layer for anti-stiction or friction reduction and in fabrication of micro structure of molecule and bio molecule. Recently, there have been many researches on micro patterning using the advantages of very thin thickness and etching resistance of Self-Assembled Monolayers in selective etching of thin metal film. In this report, we present the several machining method to form the nanoscale structure by Mask-Less laser patterning using alknanethiolate Self-Assembled Monolayers such as thin metal film etching and heterogeneous SAMs structure formation.
A strain of Streptomyces sp. (YS-221-B) extracellularly produced an inhibitory substance for $\alpha$-D-Glucosidase. The substance was purified 96-fold from culture filtrate by dialysis, heat treatment, adsorption on active carbon, Bio-Gel P-10 and Sephadex G-75 column chromatography with yield of 9.2%. The substance was stable in pH range from 7.0 to 11.0 at 37$^{\circ}C$, and a treatment at 10$0^{\circ}C$ for 20 min diminished only 15% of the original activity. The inhibitor was not inactivated by the treatment of $\alpha$-, $\beta$-amylases, glucoamylases, trypsin and chymotrypsin but inactivated by pyoteases from Streptomyces griseus and Tritirachium album.
This study investigates the use of methyl-esterified eggshell membranes (MESM) for the harvesting of microalgae species under various conditions. Eggshell membranes were esterified with HCl to impact polycationic characteristics. After methyl esterification, the negative surface charge property of eggshell membrane was changed from negative to positive for all pH values to improve microalgae sorption capacity. The harvesting efficiency of microalgae by MESM reached 78-99% for all pH ranges evaluated. In addition, a 150 mesh particle size and $10mg\;L^{-1}$ MESM dose were found to yield up to 98% microalgae harvesting. These results indicate that the high cationic charge of MESM strongly adsorbs the negatively-charged microalgae. MESM is biocompatible and can be applied to the harvest of microalgae.

Reduced graphite oxides (rGOs) were prepared by the common graphite oxidation method and the subsequent reductions. The reduction of graphite oxides (GOs) was conducted chemically and/or thermally. To further reduce the as-prepared rGOs, GOs were treated with chemical/thermal reductions or thermal/chemical reductions, in which the reduction sequence was also considered. The structural changes of as-prepared rGOs, depending on reduction methods, were investigated by X-ray diffraction analyses, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. In addition, we discuss the structural change of the rGOs and their closely related physical and electrical properties, such as thermogravimetry, nitrogen adsorption isotherm, and sheet resistance.
This study was investigated the application of biofiltration using cometabolic process to remediate gaseous toluene that are highly recalcitrant to adsorption, absorption and biodegradation. The investigation was conducted using specially built steel columns packed with granular activated carbon for removal of toluene and G.A.C was also coated with Pseudomonas putida microorganisms by addition of KH$_{2}$PO$_{4}$. The biofilter unit was operated in the condition of dry and 27.5% moisture content at gas loading rate of 12.5 l/min. Gaseous toluene taken from tedlar bag was analyzed by the use of G.C. equipped with F.I.D. detector. The removal efficiency of gaseous toluene was 85% at average inlet concentration of 970 ppm during dry operating condition. For gaseous toluene, 91% removal efficient was obtained at the filter material with moisture content and 97% removal efficiency was obtained with Pseudomonas putida microorganisms at gas loading rate of 12.5 l/min.

The design of DNA nanostructures is of fundamental importance, the intrinsic value of DNA as a building-block material lies in its ability to organize other bio-molecules with nanometer-scale spacing. Here, we report the fabrication of DNA scaffolds with nano-pores (<10 nm size) that formed easily without the use of additives (i.e., avidin, biotin, polyamine, or inorganic materials) into large-scale structures by assembling DNA molecules at near room temperature ($30^{\circ}C$) and low pH (~5.5). Protein immobilization results also confirmed that a fibronectin (FN) proteins/large scale DNA scaffolds/aminopropylytriethoxysilane (APS)/SiO2/Si substrate with high sensitivity formed in a well-defined manner. The DNA scaffolds can be applied for use with DNA-based biochips, biophysics, and cell biology.
Activated carbon was prepared from coffee wastes by chemical activation with $ZnCl_{2}$, NaOH and KOH. The coffee wastes was used as raw material. Preparation process involves the roasting of raw material and carbonization of roasted material followed by chemical activation. N2-BET surface areas of activated coffee char prepared by chemical activation was measured as $1,110{\sim}2,442m^{2}/g$. Removal of copper and chromium in solution by activated carbon was carried out and structural change of pore surface was observed by SEM.
The brine and seawater are important and largely untapped sources of critical trace metals and elements. The coupling of selective recovery of trace metals from seawater/brine with desalination plants gives an added advantage of energy credits to desalination plants and as well as reduce the cost of desalinated water. In this paper, status review on recovery of important trace metals and other alkali metals from seawater is presented. The potential of Indian desalination plants for recovery of trace metals, based on recovery ratio of 0.35 is also highlighted. Studies carried out by the process based on adsorption using Radiation Induced Grafted (RIG) polymeric adsorbents and then fractional elutions are presented. The fouling factors due to bio fouling and dirt fouling have been estimated for various locations of interest through field trails. The pay loader in the form of compact Contactor Assembly with minimum pressure drop, for loading specially designed radiation grafted sorbent in leaflet form has been briefed, as required for plant scale facility. The typical conceptual process design details of farm assembly of project CRUDE are described.

The eggshell is a type of bio-waste which is considered hazardous to the environment. In this research, the waste eggshell is utilized as a potential filler in cementitious material. This study has measured by zeta potential to analyze the interaction between the surface of the filler and the calcium ion in the solution. Meanwhile, the effect of eggshell powder on cement hydration process has been determined by isothermal calorimeter. The results show that the surface of eggshell powder have a strong adsorption of Ca2+, and addition of the eggshell powder provides a heterogeneous nucleation site for cement, which promotes the growth of hydration products.
