A New Kernelized Approach to Recommender System (커널 함수를 도입한 새로운 추천 시스템)

  • In this paper, a new kernelized approach for use in a recommender system (RS) is proposed. Using a machine learning technique, the proposed method predicts the user's preferences for unknown items and recommends items which are likely to be preferred by the user. Since the ratings of the users are generally inconsistent and noisy, a robust binary classifier called a dual margin Lagrangian support vector machine (DMLSVM) is employed to suppress the noise. The proposed method is applied to MovieLens databases, and its effectiveness is demonstrated via simulations.

  • In this paper we study the effects of transmission noise on fixed-length coded wavelet coefficients. We use a posteriori detectors which include inter-bitplane information and determine which transmitted codeword was most likely corrupted into a received erroneous codeword We present a simple method of recovering from these errors once detected and demonstrate our restoration methodology on scalar-quantized wavelet coefficients that have been transmitted across a binary symmetric channel.

Narrowband Signal Localization Based on Enhanced LAD Method

  • In this paper, an enhanced localization algorithm based on double thresholds (LAD) is proposed for localizing narrowband signals in the frequency domain. A simplified LAD method is first studied to reduce the computational complexity of the original LAD method without performance loss. The upper and lower thresholds of the simplified LAD method are directly calculated by running the forward consecutive mean excision algorithm only once. By combining the simplified LAD method and binary morphological operators, the enhanced LAD method is then proposed and its performance is simply discussed. The simulation results verify the correctness of discussion and show that the enhanced LAD method is superior to the LAD with adjacent cluster combining method, especially at low signal-to-noise ratio.

A New Hybrid Genetic Algorithm for Nonlinear Channel Blind Equalization

  • In this study, a hybrid genetic algorithm merged with simulated annealing is presented to solve nonlinear channel blind equalization problems. The equalization of nonlinear channels is more complicated one, but it is of more practical use in real world environments. The proposed hybrid genetic algorithm with simulated annealing is used to estimate the output states of nonlinear channel, based on the Bayesian likelihood fitness function, instead of the channel parameters. By using the desired channel states derived from these estimated output states of the nonlinear channel, the Bayesian equalizer is implemented to reconstruct transmitted symbols. In the simulations, binary signals are generated at random with Gaussian noise. The performance of the proposed method is compared with those of a conventional genetic algorithm(GA) and a simplex GA. In particular, we observe a relatively high accuracy and fast convergence of the method.

  • A measuring system is developed to acquire static image from rotary state through CCD camera in back light illumination by synchronizing chopper to workpiece. In image processing of acquired image, lowpass filter is very useful in view of noise removal, and optimum binary image can be made through histogram equalization which is one of the histogram technique to maximize brightness intensity between workpiece and background. After image treatment applying Laplacian operator, surface roughness is calculated by introducing conversion coefficient of pixel which edge is composed of.

  • 본 논문에서는 단일 글꼴에 의존하는 원형 패턴 벡터(circular pattern vectors)를 이용하여 위치 이동, 크기 변화 그리고 회전에 무관한 새로운 인쇄체 한글 인식 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 알고리즘은 2진 형태론(binary morphology)을 이용하여 입력 문자에 존재하는 잡음(noise)을 제거한 후, 원형 패턴벡터를 추출한다. 추출된 원형 패턴 벡터는 주어진 문자의 무게 중심을 원의 중심으로 하여 그린 여러 원주 상에 위치한 공간적인 분포 값을 나타내는 것이다. 마지막으로, 실험 문자는 기준 원형 패턴 벡터와 실험 원형 패턴 벡터간의 거리가 최소가 되는 기준 문자로 인식하게 된다. 제안한 알고리즘의 성능을 평가하기 위해, 크기 변화와 회전 변형이 있는 완성형 바탕체 한글 2,350자를 대상으로 모의 실험을 수행하였다. 제안한 알고리즘은 기존의 고리 투영 알고리즘보다 크기 변화와 회전 변형이 있는 한글 인식에 있어서 우수함을 보였다.

  • In this paper, we implement a multi-touch system using FIDR. The implementation consists of hardware manufacture and development of image processing system. In the hardware system, touch screen, infrared LED placements and infrared camera are made. The image processing procedure is to extract each pointer's coordinates from image data and includes binary-coding, noise-elimination, labeling and calculation of mass center. From the implementation, we are able to make a multi-touch system with considerably lower cost than the existing ones.

A Modified FCM for Nonlinear Blind Channel Equalization using RBF Networks

  • In this paper, a modified Fuzzy C-Means (MFCM) algorithm is presented for nonlinear blind channel equalization. The proposed MFCM searches the optimal channel output states of a nonlinear channel, based on the Bayesian likelihood fitness function instead of a conventional Euclidean distance measure. In its searching procedure, all of the possible desired channel states are constructed with the elements of estimated channel output states. The desired state with the maximum Bayesian fitness is selected and placed at the center of a Radial Basis Function (RBF) equalizer to reconstruct transmitted symbols. In the simulations, binary signals are generated at random with Gaussian noise. The performance of the proposed method is compared with that of a hybrid genetic algorithm (GA merged with simulated annealing (SA): GASA), and the relatively high accuracy and fast searching speed are achieved.

  • This paper presents a novel method for identification of FSK modulated radar signal. Three features which measure the number of frequency tones, the regularity of the frequency shifting, and the diversity of power spectrum of detected radar signal, are introduced. A Two-step combined maximum likelihood classifier was used to identify the details of the detected FSK signal; the modulation order and the use of Costas code. We attempted to divide FSK signal into binary FSK, ternary FSK, 8-ary FSK, and FSK with Costas code of length 7. The simulation results indicated that the proposed methods achieves an averaged identification accuracy was 99.93% at a signal-to-noise of 0 dB.
