This paper, drawing on various secondary sources related to bilingualism and bilingual education, proposes a semi-CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) model as an initial option for Korea's ELT instruction at a primary level, with a subsequent application to a secondary level in mind. It is reported that the current pedagogy focused on early English education and communicative language teaching does not meet the needs of students' EFL proficiency. The main reasons for this are considered to lie in the social and educational environment which impedes EFL students' meaningful and authentic communication in target language. Thus, by exploring a conceptual approach to such a problem, this paper suggests a paradigm of integrating content and language for a reasonable solution.

This study investigated the learning process of Chines international student within a technology environment, who was studying in Korea to be well equipped as a math teacher in future. Her activities were observed and guided in a class for pre-service teachers in one university, Kyunggido, in the second semester of 2014. She experienced obstacles such as the lacks of comprehending Korean sentences, Korean math terminologies, mathematical concepts, and fidelities of technology in her learning. She was recovered by bilingual effect, visualization activities, repetition activities, and group activities. There was a learning helper who made her learning possible in a bilingual way. Thus, the bilingual education is crucial for students with multi-cultural background.

This study investigated results of bilingual learning of mathematics in teaching quadratic functions at an international high school in South Korea. Unlike a Korean traditional public school, this international school has provided bilingual learning. 10th grade students enrolled two math classes, Algebra II that was taught in English through CCSS and High School Mathematics I that was taught in Korean through the Korean National Math Curriculum. In order to collect information on students' behaviors and math achievement, we analyzed students' academic back grounds, mathematical abilities, results of interviews, observations, questionnaires and assessments. The results of this study include specific benefits. Bilingual learning of mathematics is effective as a method to improve Korean students' mathematical abilities and attitudes as well as positive influence on Korean mathematics education.

Motivating students to study mathematics is a concern for many mathematics educators. In this paper, we present the outcome of a one semester experiment in which group-work and academic advising were used as teaching strategies in order to improve the motivational level of our students in learning mathematics. Although the students' performance did not show any statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups, qualitative and other quantitative data collected indicate that the participants in the experiment, especially weak students, have in one way or the other benefited from the teaching approaches. Details of the experiment, the findings and their educational implications are presented.

한국 사회는 빠르게 다문화 사회로 진입되고 있어 인구 구성과 집단이 다양해 질것으로 전망하고 있다. 다양한 형태의 가족 중 중도입국 청소년들의 비율이 점점 증가하고 있다. 대부분의 중도입국 청소년들은 준비가 전혀 이루어진 않은 상태에서 우리나라에 입국하는 실정이므로 언어장벽에서 진로장벽에 이르기 까지 매우 취약한 여건과 불안정한 환경에 처해 있는 것이다. 이를 해결하는 방안으로 국가나 지방자치단체는 물론 각급 교육기관에서 다양한 프로그램으로 서비스가 지원되고 있으나 사업 간의 중복성과 일부 비효율적인 전달체계와 운영, 예산과 인력 낭비로 인하여 효과성을 낮추는 경향이 있다. 본 논문에서는 중도입국 청소년들의 발달주기, 학령주기, 한국어 구사 능력에 따라 개인의 능력에 따른 맞춤형 언어교육으로 올바르게 성장하도록 도움을 주는 방안을 제시한다. 제시한 내용은 이중언어 교육방법과 발도르프 교육 프로그램을 준용한 교수-학습 방안이다.

This research examines mutual culture education in accordance with Germany's immigrant social integration policy by analyzing the National European School in Berlin. In this regard, the curricula of Joan-Miró elementary school and Finow elementary school are analyzed. Germany maintains a multicultural policy which enables immigrants to maintain their native language and identity and simultaneously integrate them into the German society. In short, maintenance of immigrants' mother tongue and immigrant students' acquisition of the German language is the core of Germany's social integration policy. The National European School in Berlin is a public school established for the sake of an educational environment in which students can not only build up language capacity, but also create a culturally mutual environment for multicultural students. The school's educational objective is mutual culture education which can integrate and maintain the cultural identity and language of multicultural students. Joan-Miró elementary school encourages mutual cultural ability and bilingual ability while preparing students for the future intelligent society, leading their independent life and self-initiated learning. Finow elementary school encourages mutual culture ability, language capacity and directional capability apart from the basic capacities that can reinforce students to become citizens in demand of the future intellectual society. Korean foreign language education needs to be practically diversified as in the case of the Germany's National European school. Also, improvement of educational environment such as students' bilingual ability, students' ability development regarding their individual characteristics, and the capability of mutual culture understanding are issues that should be urgently treated.

최근 자연 언어 처리 분야에서는 단어를 실수벡터로 임베딩하는 워드 임베딩(Word embedding) 기술이 많은 각광을 받고 있다. 최근에는 서로 다른 두 언어를 이용한 이중 언어 위드 임베딩(Bilingual word embedding) 방법을 사용하는 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있는데, 이중 언어 워드 임베딩에서 임베딩 절과의 질은 학습하는 코퍼스의 정렬방식에 따라 많은 영향을 받는다. 본 논문은 자막 병렬 코퍼스를 이용하여 밑바탕 어휘집(Seed lexicon)을 구축하여 번역 연결 강도를 향상시키고, 이중 언어 워드 임베딩의 사천(Vocabulary) 확장을 위한 언어별 연결 함수(Language-specific mapping function)을 학습하는 새로운 방식의 모델을 제안한다. 제안한 모델은 기존 모델과의 성능비교에서 비교할만한 수준의 결과를 얻었다.

본 논문에서는 한국사회에서 미래 100년 동안 사회 경제 분야의 가장 중요한 핵심 문제로 대두되어질 다문화가정과 관련하여 IT와 융합된 전자책 시스템을 기반으로 자녀교육에 대한 해결책을 제시하기 위하여 7개국의 유명한 전래동화책을 수집, 분석하고 번역하여 다국어 전자책으로 제작하고 서적, CD, 웹사이트, 스마트폰을 이용하여 세계 각국의 다문화가정 교육모델로 제시하고 서비스한다. 구현되어진 다국어 전자책 모델 시스템은 국내 다문화가정 어린이의 이중 언어 교육을 통하여 부모와 연계된 다문화 시대의 문화적 언어적 문제를 해결하며 다문화 어린이들의 글로벌 마인드 함양 및 다문화를 기반으로 한 사회적 통합을 추진하며 세계 최고수준의 유비쿼터스 인터넷 인프라 기반 서비스를 통하여 전자책 서비스의 글로벌 표준을 제시한다. 다국어 전자책 모델 시스템은 국가지원과제 신청을 통하여 지역사회를 통한 복지 분야 행정시스템을 기반으로 무료 보급하며 2011년 독일에서 개최되는 국제도서전에 출품하여 글로벌 보급 활성화와 교육성과에 대한 발표를 추진한다.

This study examined the language acquisition of children from Chinese families in Korea under the bilingual background of Korean and Chinese, focusing on pronunciation and vocabulary. First, in the analysis of pronunciation acquisition, children correctly realized the lenition, aspirated sound, glottalization, palatalization, nasalization, and liquidization while the realization of pronunciation rules for unfamiliar words was low. There were also errors caused when the application principles of pronunciation were not accurately understood or they were not partially acquired. Second, in the analysis of vocabulary acquisition, the acquisition of receptive vocabulary was in the order of verb, noun, and adjective while they clearly understood vocabulary used in the actual relationships with school, family, and peers. In the acquisition of productive vocabulary, they showed the 'meaning-centered principle' of learning the meaning of vocabulary first and then learning its form afterwards. The amount of study and exposure to Korean language had effects on the improvement of vocabulary. Even though this study focused on the errors and characteristics in the acquisition process of Korean pronunciation and vocabulary for children from Chinese families in Korea, it could not clearly find out which one would have greater effects on the acquisition of Korean language. However, lots of exchanges and experiences with surrounding environment and peer group had great effects on the language acquisition and language acquisition transfer of children.

For hearing-impaired students, it is known that reading ability is the most important means of communication. In the meanwhile, with recent development of wireless communication technologies, mobile devices are used in various education fields. The purpose of this study is to design and implement a mobile system to improve reading ability of hearing-impaired students. For this purpose, "Question Generation Strategy", known as one of the effective methods for improving reading ability, is adopted to make study contents. Also, 2Bi (Bilingual-Bicultural) Approach Model, an attractive model for improving reading ability of hearing-impaired students, is used. Characteristics of the proposed mobile system are as follows. First, the system is developed to let students learn written language usage through repetition and difference of two organically-related curriculums for hearing-impaired students. Second, study contents are made to increase sentence understanding ability using an activity that is to let students read articles, make questions and answer questions for themselves. Third, the proposed system is designed and implemented to allow students to choose study contents individually anytime anywhere depending on their study levels.
