강유전체 메모리용 $Bi_{3.3}Eu_{0.7}Ti_3O_{12}$ 박막의 증착과 전기적 특성 (Preparation and Electrical Properties of Ferroelectric $Bi_{3.3}Eu_{0.7}Ti_3O_{12}$ Thin Films for Memory Applications)

  • Ferroelectric Eu-substituted $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ (BET) thin films with a thickness of 200 nm were deposited on Pt(111)/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si(100) substrate by means of the liquid delivery MOCVD system and annealed at several temperatures in an oxygen atmosphere. At annealing temperature above $600^{\circ}C$, the microstructure of layered perovskite phase was observed. The remanent polarization of these films increased with increase in annealing temperature. The remanent polarization values ($2P_r$) of the BET thin films annealed at $720^{\circ}C$ were $37.71{\mu}C/cm^2$ at an applied voltage of 5 V.

Electronic Structure and Magnetism of CrP/SrBi Interface: A First Principles Study

  • We investigated the electronic structure and magnetic properties of zinc-blende CrP/SrBi interface by using the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method within the generalized gradient approximation. It is found that the half-metallicity is destroyed when the two half-metals are in contact. Magnetic moments of the atoms forming the supercell differ considerably from the respective values obtained for the bulk structures of the two materials. Cr atoms being and not being in contact with Bi atoms have magnetic moment 3.43 and $2.69{\mu}_B$, respectively. Bi atoms lose their majority electrons which results in their negative polarization. Alkaline Sr atoms are very weakly negatively polarized. The spin distribution within the supercell is such that well separated regions of positive and negative polarization are seen, especially around the layer of P atoms being in contact with the layer of Sr atoms.

  • 본 논문에서는 이중편파 수신이 가능한 W-대역 밀리미터파 탐색기용 모노펄스 카세그레인 안테나를 제안하고, 제작 및 측정을 통하여 안테나의 특성을 검증하였다. 이중편파 모노펄스 카세그레인 안테나는 주/부 반사경, 이중편파 수신이 가능한 급전혼 및 모노펄스 비교기로 구성된다. 제안된 급전혼은 모노펄스 신호를 생성하기 위해 $2{\times}2$ 배열의 정사각형 도파관 급전부를 가지며, 이중편파에 수신을 위해 90도 회전대칭 구조로 설계되었다. 측정을 통해 합 채널 및 차 채널에 대해서 수직 및 수평의 이중편파에서 유사한 방사패턴 성능을 확인했다. 중심 주파수에서 합 채널의 이득은 수직편파에서 35.1 dBi, 수평편파에서 35.6 dBi로 편파간 이득차는 0.5 dBi였으며, 부엽준위는 -21.6 dB 이하였다.

SrTiO3기판 위에 증착한 BiFeO3박막의 강유전 및 자기적 특성 (Ferroelectric and Magnetic Properties of BiFeO3 Thin Films Deposited on SrTiO3 Substrate)

  • $BiFeO_3$ films were hetero-epitaxially grown on $SrTiO_3$ substrate with a various orientation by pulse laser deposition. $BiFeO_3$ films grown on (111) $SrTiO_3$ substrate have a rhombohedral structure, identical to that of single crystals. On the other hand, films grown on (110) or (001) $SrTiO_3$ substrate are monoclinically distorted from the rhombohedral structure due to the epitaxial constraint. The easy axis of spontaneous polarization is close to [111] for the variously oriented films. Dramatically enhanced polarization and magnetization have been found for $BiFeO_3$ thin films grown on $SrTiO_3$ substrate comparing to that of $BiFeO_3$ crystals. The results are explained in terms of an epitaxially-induced transition between cycloidal and homogeneous spin states, via magneto-electric interactions.

5.8GHz 마이크로파 무선전력전송을 위한 원형 편파 배열 안테나 설계 (Design of Circularly Polarized Array Antenna for 5.8GHz Microwave Wireless Power Transmission)

  • In this paper, we have designed circularly polarized array antenna for 5.8GHz microwave wireless power transmission. To obtain high antenna gain, we studied a single patch antenna, a $2{\times}1$ array antenna, a $2{\times}2$ array antenna, a $2{\times}4$ array antenna, and a $4{\times}4$ array antenna. Commonly, characteristics of each antenna have a frequency of 5.8 GHz and Right Hand Circular Polarization(RHCP) of circular polarization. Also, the results were obtained with the design to each antenna that the return loss was less than -10dB and the axial ratio was less than 3dB. The gain of the antennas was 6.08dBi for a single patch antenna, 9.69dBi for a $2{\times}1$ array antenna, 12.99dBi for a $2{\times}2$ array antenna, 15.72dBi for a $2{\times}4$ array antenna and 18.39dBi for a $4{\times}4$ array antenna. When the elements of the array antenna were increased, it was confirmed that it increased by about 3dBi.

이중편파 다이버시티 특성을 갖는 사각 링 구조의 능동형 패치 안테나에 관한 연구 (A Study on Rectangular-Ring Patch Active Antenna with Dual Polarization Diversity)

  • 본 논문에서는 이중 원형 편파 특성을 갖는 소형 마이크로스트립 능동 안테나에 대해 기술하였다. 제안된 안테나는 좌수원형편파와 우수원형편파를 선택하여 수신할 수 있는 다이버시티 기능을 갖는다. 방사체용 마이크로 스트립 패치의 내부에 정사각형 빈 공간을 두어 소형화를 시켰으며 급전선로 주변에 슬롯을 위치시켜 임피던스 정합이 용이하게 하였다. 정사각형 빈 공간에는 스위치와 증폭기 회로들이 설계되었으며 이를 통해 편파 모드 선택과 안테나 이득을 증가시켰다. 제안된 안테나는 GPS 에 적용하였으며 임피던스 대역폭을 만족한다. 제작된 안테나는 우수원형편파 동작 시, 3dB 축비 대역폭은 약 50MHz, 3dB 빔 각도는 90도, 13dBi 의 안테나 이득이 측정되었다. 또한 좌수원형편파 동작 시, 3dB 축비 대역폭은 약 50MHz, 3dB 빔 각도는 84도, 약 12dBi 의 안테나 이득이 측정되었다.

Probing the millimeter/radio polarization of active galactic nuclei

  • I present an analysis of the linear polarization of six active galactic nuclei (AGN). We monitored our targets from 2007 to 2011 in the observatory-frame frequency range 80-253 GHz with the Plateau de Bure Interferometer (PdBI). We find average degrees of polarization in the range 2-7%; this indicates that the polarization signals are effectively averaged out by the emitter geometries. We see indication for the presence of strong shocks and/or variability of the emitter geometries. We attempt to derive rotation measures for all sources, leading to actual measurements for two targets which find the highest rotation measures reported to date for AGN.

A Combined Rietveld Refinement on the Crystal Structure of a Magnetoelectric Aurivillius Phase $Bi_5Ti_3FeO_{15}$ Using Neutron and X-ray Powder Diffractions

  • An ambiguity on the correct room temperature structure of $Bi_5Ti_3FeO_{15}$ was resolved using a combined Rietveld refinement of neutron and X-ray diffraction. The structure of this compound has been reported to have a space group of F2mm (adopting 2-fold rotation symmetry along the c-axis) or A21am. However, our diffraction, study reveals that some reflections would violate F-centering and confirm that the belong to $A2_1$am. Out refinement with the space group of $A2_1$am converged at $R_p=6.85%, R_wp=9.23%$ and $\chi^2$=1.66 for an isotropic temperature model with 85 variables. The lattice constants are a=5.4677(1) $\AA$, b=5.4396(1) $\AA$, and c=41.2475(8)$\AA$. In structure, Ti/Fe atoms at the oxygen octahedral sites of the perovskite unit are completely disordered, resulting in that these atoms are transparent in neutron diffraction. The octahedra of the perovskite unit are relatively displaced along the a-axis against the Bi atoms, which contribute as a major component to the spontaneous polarization of $Bi_5Ti_3FeO_{15}$.

Vector Passive Harmonic Mode-locking Fiber Laser Based on Topological Insulator Bi2Se3 Interacting with Fiber Taper

  • I propose a vector passive harmonic mode-locked fiber laser based on topological insulator Bi2Se3 interacting with a fiber taper with a diameter of 7 μm. The particles of topological insulator are deposited uniformly onto the fiber taper with light pressure effect. By incorporating the fabricated saturable absorber into an Er-doped fiber laser cavity, stable mode-locked fiber is obtained. Due to the intense evanescent field of the fiber taper, strong confinement of light enhances the nonlinearity of the laser cavity, and passive harmonic mode-locking is performed. I observe a maximum harmonic mode-locking of 356th, corresponding to a frequency of 3.57 GHz. The pulse duration is 824 fs, and the full width at half maximum of the spectrum is about 8.2 nm. The polarization dependent loss of the saturable absorber is ~ 2.5 dB in the wavelength range of the C band. As the cavity contains no other polarization dependent device, the mode-locked laser is functioning in the vector state. The harmonic order vs pump power is investigated. To the best of our knowledge, this report is the highest frequency mode-locked fiber laser based on Bi2Se3. Experimental results indicate that the topological insulator Bi2Se3 functioning with a thin fiber taper is effective for vector harmonic mode-locking.

  • The SrBi$_2$Ta$_2$O$\sub$9/(SBT) thin films are deposited on Pt-coated electrode(Pt/TiO$_2$/SiO$_2$/Si) using RF sputtering method. The SBT thin films deposited on substrate at 400-500[$^{\circ}C$]. SBT thin film deposited on Pt-coated electrodes have the cubic perovskite structure and polycrystalline state. With increasing annealing temperature from 600[$^{\circ}C$] to 850[$^{\circ}C$], flourite Phase was crystalized to 650[$^{\circ}C$] and Bi-layered perovskite phase was crystalized above 700[$^{\circ}C$]. The maximum remanent polarization is 11.73 ${\mu}$C/cm$^2$at 500[$^{\circ}C$] of substrate temperature and 750[$^{\circ}C$] annealing temperature for 30min.
