In this study, four different samples of Se60Ge40-xBix chalcogenides glasses were synthesized by heating the melt for 18 h in vacuum Pyrex ampoules (under a 10-4 Torre vacuum), each with a different concentration (x = 0, 10, 15, and 20) of high purity starting materials. The results of direct current (DC) electrical conductivity measurements against a 1,000/T plot for all chalcogenide samples revealed two linear areas at medium and high temperatures, each with a different slope and with different activation energies (E1 and E2). In other words, these samples contain two electrical conduction mechanisms: a localized conduction at middle temperatures and extended conduction at high temperatures. The results showed the local and extended state parameters changed due to the effective partial substitution of germanium by bismuth. The density of extended states N(Eext) and localized states N(Eloc) as a function of bismuth concentration was used to gauge this effect. While the density of the localized states decreased from 1.6 × 1014 to 4.2 × 1012 (ev-1 cm-3) as the bismuth concentration increased from 0 to 15, the density of the extended states generally increased from 3.552 × 1021 to 5.86 × 1021 (ev-1 cm-3), indicating a reduction in the mullet's randomness. This makes these alloys more widely useful in electronic applications due to the decrease in the cost of manufacturing.
In this study, the neutron capture cross section of $^{180}Ta$(natural existence ratio: 0.012 %) obtain by measuring has been compared with the evaluated data for the capture data. In generally, the neutron capture resonance is defined as Breit-Wigner formula. The formula consists of the resonance parameters such as neutron width, total width and neutron width. However in the case of $^{180}Ta$, these are very poor experimental neutron capture cross section data and resonance information in below 10 eV. Therefore, in the study, we analyzed the neutron resonance of $^{180}Ta$ with the measuring the prompt gamma-ray from the sample. And the resonance was compared with the evaluated data by Mughabghab, ENDF/B-VII, JEFF-3.1 and TENDL 2012. Neutron sources from photonuclear reaction with 46-MeV electron linear accelerator at Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto University used for cross section measurement of $^{180}Ta(n,{\gamma})^{181}Ta$ reaction. $BGO(Bi_4Ge_3O_{12})$ scintillation detectors used for measurement of the prompt gamma ray from the $^{180}Ta(n,{\gamma})^{181}Ta$ reaction. The BGO spectrometer was composed geometrically as total energy absorption detector.

An active antenna(AA) can have wider bandwidth and more gain with small antenna size than those of passive antennas. However, AA inherently generates thermal noise and spurious signals from an active device. Moreover, the spurious performance of AA is very important in a highly sensitive receiving system since it is located at the front end of the receiving system. In this study, we developed an AA with $100{\sim}500\;MHz$, having the output P1dB higher than 3 dBm and little spurious signals in real environments. To achieve such performance, we designed an AA with 3-stage amplifier using CD(common drain) FET and 2 BJTs. Its electrical performances were simulated using ADS. The measurement results for typical gain, NF, OIP3, VSWR and P1dB in the required frequency band were 9.7 dBi, 10 dB, 14 dBm, 1.7:1 and 3 dBm respectively. They are in good agreement with simulation results. The unwanted spectrum level of the proposed AA is $10{\sim}30\;dB$ lower than that of the antenna with CS(common source) FET configuration at a west suburban area of Seoul, which shows that the proposed AA can be applicable to a highly sensitive receiving system for detecting unknown weak signals mixed with broadcasting and civilian communication signals.
After proving home-made imaging pulse sequences including tailored RF pulse by phantom, susceptibility-contrast-enhanced MR venograms of cat brain were obtained using tailored RF gradient-echo(TRGE) method. Sagittal MR imaging of the cat brain obtained by TRGE technique shows several veins, for example, dorsal sagittal sinus, straight sinus, vein of corpus callosum and internal cerebral vein, etc., compared with cats anatomical figure. Tailored RF waveform was generated by PASCAL language in ASPECT 3000 computer(Switzland, Bruker). Rectangular-shaped slice profile with bi-linear ramp function as phase distribution in the slice, at which maximum value was 2$\pi$, was fourier transformed to make tailored RF pulse. Experimental MR imaging parameters were TR/TE=205/10 msec, slice thickness TH=7mm, maxtrix size=256$\times$256, in-plane resolution=0.62$\times$0.31mm$^2$, and field of view(FOV)=8cm for both conventional gradient-echo(GE) imaging and TRGE imaging techniques.

In this paper, the linear active phased array antenna system operated in Ku DBS band was designed and experimented. The antenna system was composed of sixteen radiating active channels and Wilkinson power combiners with 16-channel inputs, a stabilizing DC bias and phase control board. Electrical beams of the antenna system can be formed by controling the phase-states of 3-bit digital phase shifter inside each active channel by virtue of the phase control board. The amplitude and phase deviations measured between active channels were less than ${\pm}0.8dB$ and ${\pm}15^{\circ}$, respectively, and the noise figure of each active channel was measured less than 1.2 dB in the operating band. The measured performances of the overall antenna system showed the antenna gain of more than 23.07 dBi and the sidelobe level of less than -11.17 dBc, and the bore-sight cross-polarization level of less than -12.75 dBc in the operating band. Also, by phase-controlling active channels, the beam scan patterns at $10^{\circ},\;20^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}$ were measured, and the losses caused by the corresponding beam scanning were 1.1 dB, 2.5 dB and 3.6 dB from the measurements, respectively.
The branched copolyester was synthesized and its molecular weight, $T_g$, 1/2 method temperature ($T_{1/2}$) and rheological properties were characterized for the application of toner binder. The linear copolyester had low molecular weight and melt elasticity obtained by dimethylterephthalate (DMT), ethylene glycol (EG) and 2,2-bis(4-(2-hydroxypropoxy) phenyl)propane (HPP). The branched copolyesters prepared with various branching agents such as 2-(hydroxymethyl)-2-ethylpropane-1,3-diol (trimethylol propane, TMP), 2,2-bi(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (pentaerythritol, PER), 1,2,4-benzenetricarboxylic anhydride (trimellitic anhydride, TMA) and glycerol to improve the physical properties of the linear copolyester. The effect of branching agents on the molecular weight and melt elasticity of the branched copolyester was examined. The branched copolyesters prepared by adding over 15 mol% of branching agent showed relatively high molecular weight and melt elasticity, and $T_{1/2}$ value of $140^{\circ}C$. Therefore, the highly branched copolyesters were deemed suitable as a hot-melt toner of laser print process.
Object-based image analysis (OBIA) allows higher computation efficiency and usability of information inherent in the image, as it reduces the complexity of the image while maintaining the image properties. Superpixel methods oversegment the image with a smaller image unit than an ordinary object segment and well preserve the edges of the image. SLIC (Simple linear iterative clustering) is known for outperforming the previous superpixel methods with high image segmentation quality. Although the input parameter for SLIC, number of superpixels has considerable influence on image segmentation results, impact analysis for SLIC parameter has not been investigated enough. In this study, we performed optimal parameter analysis and evaluation of change detection for SLIC-based superpixel techniques using KOMPSAT data. Forsuperpixel generation, three superpixel methods (SLIC; SLIC0, zero parameter version of SLIC; SNIC, simple non-iterative clustering) were used with superpixel sizes in ranges of $5{\times}5$ (pixels) to $50{\times}50$ (pixels). Then, the image segmentation results were analyzed for how well they preserve the edges of the change detection reference data. Based on the optimal parameter analysis, image segmentation boundaries were obtained from difference image of the bi-temporal images. Then, DBSCAN (Density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise) was applied to cluster the superpixels to a certain size of objects for change detection. The changes of features were detected for each superpixel and compared with reference data for evaluation. From the change detection results, it proved that better change detection can be achieved even with bigger superpixel size if the superpixels were generated with high regularity of size and shape.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm to improve target detection rate degradation due to direct blast in a bi-static sonar systems with high duty cycle using an adaptive filters. It is very important to suppress the direct blast in the aforementioned sonar systems because it has a fatal effect on the actual system operation. In this paper, the performance was evaluated by applying the Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) and Recursive Least Square (RLS) algorithms to the simulation and sea experimental data. The beam signals of the target and direct blast bearings were used as the input and desired signals, respectively. By optimizing the difference between the two signals, the direct blast is removed and only the target signal is remained. As a result of evaluating the results of the matched filter in the simulation, it was confirmed that the direct blast was removed to the noise level in both Linear Frequency Modultated (LFM) and Generalized Sinusoidal Frequency Modulated (GSFM), and in the case of GSFM, the target sidelobe decreased by more than 20 dB, thereby improving performance. In the sea experiment, it was confirmed that the LFM reduced the level of the transmitted direct wave by 10 dB, the GSFM reduced the level of the transmitted direct wave by about 4 dB, and the side lobe of the target decreased by about 4 dB, thereby improving the performance.

To find a 3D printer material that can replace lead used as a shield for high-energy electron beam treatment, the shielding composites were simulated by using MCNP6 programs. The Percent Depth Dose (PDD), Flatness, and Symmetry of linear accelerators emitting high-energy electron beams were measured, and the linear accelerator was compared with MCNP6 after simulation, confirming that the source term between the actual measurement and simulation was consistent. By simulating the lead shield, the appropriate thickness of the lead shield capable of shielding 95% or more of the absorbed dose was selected. Based on the absorption dose data for lead shield with a thickness of 3 mm, the shielding performance was analyzed by simulating 1, 5, 10, and 15 mm thicknesses of ABS+W (10%), ABS+Bi (10%), and PLA+Fe (10%). Each prototype was manufactured with a 3D printer, measured and analyzed under the same conditions as in the simulation, and found that when ABS+W (10%) material was formed to have a thickness of at least 10mm, it had a shielding performance that could replace lead with a thickness of 3mm. The surface morphology and atomic composition of the ABS+W (10%) material were evaluated using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS). From these results, it was confirmed that replacing the commercialized lead shield with ABS+W (10%) material not only produces a shielding effect such as lead, but also can be customized to patients using a 3D printer, which can be very useful for high-energy electron beam treatment.
Background: Nuclear facilities in South Korea have generally adopted pressurized ion chambers to measure ambient gamma ray exposure rates for monitoring the impact of radiation on the surrounding environment. The rates assessed with pressurized ion chambers do not distinguish between natural and man-made radiation, so a further step is needed to identify the cause of abnormal variation. In contrast, using NaI(Tl) scintillation detectors to detect gamma energy rates can allow an immediate assessment of the cause of variation through an analysis of the energy spectra. Against this backdrop, this study was conducted to propose a more effective way to monitor ambient gamma exposure rates. Materials and Methods: The following methods were used to analyze gamma energy spectra measured from January to November 2016 with NaI detectors installed at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) dormitory and Hanbat University. 1) Correlations of the variation of rates measured at the two locations were determined. 2) The dates, intervals, duration, and weather conditions were identified when rates increased by $5nSv{\cdot}h^{-1}$ or more. 3) Differences in the NaI spectra on normal days and days where rates spiked by $5nSv{\cdot}h^{-1}$ or more were studied. 4) An algorithm was derived for automatically calculating the net variation of the rates. Results and Discussion: The rates measured at KAERI and Hanbat University, located 12 kilometers apart, did not show a strong correlation (coefficient of determination = 0.577). Time gaps between spikes in the rates and rainfall were factors that affected the correlation. The weather conditions on days where rates went up by $5nSv{\cdot}h^{-1}$ or more featured rainfall, snowfall, or overcast, as well as an increase in peaks of the gamma rays emitted from the radon decay products of $^{214}Pb$ and $^{214}Bi$ in the spectrum. This study assumed that $^{214}Pb$ and $^{214}Bi$ exist at a radioactive equilibrium, since both have relatively short half-lives of under 30 minutes. Provided that this assumption is true and that the gamma peaks of the 352 keV and 1,764 keV gamma rays emitted from the radionuclides have proportional count rates, no man-made radiation should be present between the two energy levels. This study proved that this assumption was true by demonstrating a linear correlation between the count rates of these two gamma peaks. In conclusion, if the count rates of these two peaks detected in the gamma energy spectrum at a certain time maintain the ratio measured at a normal time, such variation can be confirmed to be caused by natural radiation. Conclusion: This study confirmed that both $^{214}Pb$ and $^{214}Bi$ have relatively short half-lives of under 30 minutes, thereby existing in a radioactive equilibrium in the atmosphere. If the gamma peaks of the 352 keV and 1,764 keV gamma rays emitted from these radionuclides have proportional count rates, no man-made radiation should exist between the two energy levels.
