Despite the significance of ports as critical economic infrastructure, the berth facilities usually deteriorate due to heavy loading, unloading, aging, environmental weather conditions, marine growths, and lack of efficient maintenance management. Marine berths require proactive maintenance management to limit deterioration and defects as no berth facility is maintenance-free. Thus, delay in carrying out maintenance work for the marine berths can be devastating to the operational process involving ship entry, loading, and unloading operations. The aim of this research is to coordinate both operations work, and maintenance works that take place inside the berth of a local industrial port in Saudi Arabia, by developing a novel framework that integrates both works without affecting the efficiency and functionality of the berth. The study focused on defining the operational process of the port and identifying the elements with direct and indirect effects. In addition to determining the priority for the entry of ships inside the berth, it also identified the factors involved in designing a framework that included maintenance work as a component of the monthly berth occupancy schedule. By applying a mathematical model, a framework was established, which includes all the important elements of the process. As a result of the mathematical method formulation process, a database was designed that organizes and coordinates the operations of all berths within the port. This creates time to carry out the required maintenance work monthly as well as ease of coordination with the contractors responsible for the implementation of those works.
His paper looks more closely at the Republic of Korea's (ROK) Navy submarine berth-allocation strategies, with the study's results ultimately resulting in the proposition of an integer programming model. Current submarine berth-allocation planning problems include the need for more minimal berth-shifting and general support service failures, as a lack of efficient submarine berth-allocation often leads to submarines unable to receive the support service they need due to the inadequacy of their assigned berths. Currently, the ROK Navy allocates berths by only taking available reserve resources and the full-capacity limits of support services into account. This paper expands upon this strategy, and proposes a model which would allow for submarine berth allocation planning to also take submarine support service scheduling into account, allowing for more efficient and timely submarine servicing. This proposed model in turn minimizes berth shifting, support service failures, and allows for full coordination with the submarine support service request schedule. The construction of this model was carried out through data gathered on the ROK Navy's fleets and forces, allowing for a more nuanced analysis of existing issues with submarine berth-allocation planning.
This study mainly investigates the port SOC's impact on trade volume. In order to investigate the relationships between port SOC and trade volume, we did the empirical analysis using panel data regression and fixed effects model. The total period of 97 years and 1,082 ports' information were applied to panel data and regression model. According to the results, the coefficients of development of container berth, development of bulk berth, maintenance of port, the jetty facilities like breakwater have positive(+) impact on the dependent variable, the trade volume. Especially, the jetty facilities show a strongly positive impact on trade volume. On the other hand, the development of new port and navigation facilities like lighthouse have a negative(-) impact. In examining Hausman test and LR test, the fixed effect model is statistically more appropriate than the random effect model for this study.

To study the behavior a deck when it was collide with the ship approaching to the deck to berth, it was analyzed the effect zone by the ship collision which consists of deck slab and PC piles of the quay. The numerical technique is used to simulate the behavior of the deck when the ship hit the expansion joint of deck between the deck slabs. The failure behavior and zone of the deck are determinated by the comprehensive numerical study. The impact energy by the ship is also evaluated. It is concluded that these numerical analysis gave a reasonable estimation of the remedial area of the deck damaged by ship collision.
Digital Twin Technology is currently being utilized in many industries and logistics seems soon to follow that trend. Currently, technology introduction to container terminals is restrictedly developing. In reviewing the existing literature, it became clear that research on the application of Digital Twin technology for container terminals is deficient. This study fulfilled AHP and IPA analysis causing fields to adjust priority at the container terminal. The result of analysis on the urgent necessity of adjustable fields' detailed elements from Digital Twin Technology, ATC, intelligent CCTV, and container yards, and showed that they were of the highest priority level. Also, VR/AR Equipment, AYT, Smart Container, Automated Container Delivery Facility, Refrigerated/Freezer Container, Wearable Device for Port Maintenance, and Smart Buoy were reviewed in detail. Our group suggests AQC, Berth, AGV, ASC, Apron, and Automated Mooring as potentially useful Digital Twin Technologies. Finally, our research suggests the OSS equipment, intermodal linkage facility, intelligent drone, and hazardous material storage are areas of low priority.

This study analyzed the construction pattern and historical reality of Gwallamji Pond(觀纜池) in the rear garden of Changdeokgung Palace(昌德宮), which has been received as distorted information and has not received sufficient attention. The main topics consisted of the construction period and reorganization in the pond garden, changes in the installed wooden bridge, the existence of the berthing facility, and whether the plan shape was deformed. The main results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the Gwallamji Pond was already completed before the Gapsin Coup, which occurred in the year of King Gojong. Since then, the Gwallamji Pond area, including the surrounding facilities, has been neglected for a while and was extensively renovated in the early 1900s. It is difficult to find a clear basis for the suspension and resumption of the Gwallamji Pond construction proposed in the previous discussion. Second, three types of wooden bridges with different shapes and structures were installed sequentially in the Gwallamji Pond. In particular, the second wooden bridge, which installed after the maintenance of the Gwallamji Pond, is judged to be the pontoon bridge depicted in Donggweoldohyeong(東闕圖形), and the railing of the bridge was decorated to symbolize the imperial family of the Korean Empire. The third wooden bridge, which appeared intensively in Japanese colonial era, was a Japanese-style bridge. Third, a berth facility for boarding and disembarking existed on the eastern shore of the Gwallamji Pond. The berth facility is also described in Donggweoldohyeong and it remained until the Japanese colonial period. However, as the maintenance work of the Gwallamji Pond was carried out several times after liberation, the berth facility was gradually damaged, and there are no traces left now. Fourth, The Gwallamji Pond was originally constructed in a planar shape of the Korean Peninsula similar to the present. It is necessary to reconsider the conventional theory that the Gwallamji Pond, made in the shape of a gored-shaped bottle, was renovated in the shape of the Korean Peninsula in Japanese colonial era. Even when the term Pandoji Pond(半島池) first appeared, there was no view that the Japanese intentionally modified the Gwallamji Pond.
The numerical analysis of the automatic ship mooring system which was equipped in the ship for trying to berth at the pier was performed in this study. The automatic ship mooring using hydraulic winch was a new method that had not need to change the existing devices and to help a pilot ship of outside. The numerical results of the proposed mooring system including ship motion were that the speed and rolling phenomenon of ship was affected by changing in the ship weight and affected the slope maintenance and yaw degree of ship if there has a trim of stern. Also, a static force of ship at the initial movement was important to calculate the mooring power. The moving force and inertial force of ship on the vertical direction was confirmed for the mooring stability. Therefore, the power and velocity of hydraulic mooring winch should be determined by considering the significant characteristics such as weight, velocity, inertial force and moving force of ship.
This study examined elements which could evaluate a container terminal logistics system from the viewpoint of supply chain management. This study derived the elements of a container terminal logistics system such as flexibility, reliability, responsiveness, and information sharing and 16 evaluation sub-items in the aspect of a supply chain. In the result of analysis, the weight between SCM elements of a container terminal logistics system was the highest in reliability(0.282), followed by flexibility(0.273), responsiveness(0.224), and information sharing(0.221). The conversion weight was calculated by combining the weight of elements of a container terminal logistics system and the weight of evaluation sub-items. The highest weight which was considered as the most important factor to evaluate a container terminal logistics system was work planning(berth, yard) of flexibility(0.081), followed by accurate fulfillment of container work schedule(ship, yard) and the optimum distribution and arrangement of equipment(QC, TC, YT)(0.079), stable works without damage of containers and ships(0.071), and preventive maintenance of equipment and operators' skill(0.070).
Mooring bollards are the mandatory facility in ports for they are the objects used to fasten the ship to its position at the berth. All the mooring bollards were installed following suggested sizes, numbers, materials and shape of installation according to Port and Fishing Design Standards. However, Korea has no management standard for use of mooring bollards to safety in ship berthing. In this research, the installation standard for mooring bollards including the holding power applied to mooring bollards in berthing was studied. Also, the performance of mooring bollards for minimum safety guarantee in berthing based on research of various specification by their sizes was analyzed. The analysis on mooring bollards was examined by each power on mooring bollards from the applied force in berthing divided into horizontal and vertical direction in order to examine the performance of domestic mooring bollards, the limit force is calculated based on detailed specification research result. As a result, the working stress according to the towing force was found to be at least 150Mpa and it was evaluated to be 60% of the limit strength. Also, by comparing each forces, the appropriateness was examined and the specification of maximum capability calculated. This performance evaluation method based on detail specification of mooring bollards will be expected to be useful to examine the appropriateness of mooring bollards for various types of vessel in berthing and to develop maintenance and management standard through the performance change evaluation referring to mooring bollard detailed specification changes.
