A Study of Stress, Stress Coping Style and Health Symptoms in 6th Grade Elementary School Children (초등학교 아동의 스트레스 생활사건과 대처방식, 건강문제에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the stressors and stress coping styles of 6th grade el ementary school children and to explore the relationship between stressful life events and health symptoms and the effects of coping style which is theoretically considered to mediate the relationship between stress and health symptoms. The study subjects consisted of 329 in 6th grade elementary school children in Cheong-Ju city. Of the 329 subjects, 171 were boys and 158 were girls. For this study, three kinds of questionnaires were adopted as follows ; 1) Feel Bad Scale (FBS) by Lewis et al., 2) lazarus-Folkman's Way of coping questionnaire 3) Hee Sun Shin's Health Symptom questionnaire (HSQ) The researcher visited the school and collected data in the class using the questionnaire method after an explanation of the purpose and procedures was given to the children. Data collection was done for 10 days (from 5th to 15th of July 1997) . The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis using the SAS statistical program. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The mean score for the FBS was 211.37(range : 77-427), The most severe stressors perceived by children were parental divorce and other's smash or steal of my things. The most frequently experienced stressful life events were conflict with siblings and being scolded for other's fault. 2. The most frequently used stress coping style was the active coping (M=17.85), followed by passive (M=13.64) and magical one (M=13.42). 3. The mean score for the HSQ was 23.30(range : 0-72) The most frequently complained health symptoms were headache and having much worry about everything. 4. There was a significant relationship between stressful life events and health symptoms (r=.60, p<.001). Also, stressful life events were positively related with passive coping(r=.27, p<.001) and magical coping (r=.38, p<.001). Health symptoms were positively correlated with passive coping(r=.33, p<.001) and magical coping (r=.41, p<.001). 5. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor was the variable of stressful life events. Health concerns, magical coping style, passive coping style and active coping style accounted for 49.15% of the variance in health symptoms. This study revealed that stressful life events correlated with health symptoms in 6th grade elementary school children and passive coping and magical coping had mediating effects on this relationship. The implication for nursing is that there is a need to develop supportive interventions for high risk population to decrease health problems due to stress.

  • Versatile Video Coding (VVC) is a new video coding standard that is being developed by the Joint Video Experts Team of ISO/IEC/ITU-T and it has adopted various technologies including screen content coding tools. Screen contents have a feature that blocks are likely to have diagonal edges like character regions. If triangular partitioning coding is allowed for screen contents having such the feature, coding efficiency would increase. This paper proposes a intra prediction method using triangular partitioning prediction for screen content coding. Similar to the Triangular Prediction Mode of VVC that supports the triangular partitioning prediction, the proposed method derives two prediction blocks using Horizontal and Vertical modes and then it blends the predicted blocks applying masks with triangle shape to generate a final prediction block. The experimental results of the proposed method showed an average of 1.86%, 1.49%, and 1.55% coding efficiency in YUV, respectively, for VVC screen content test sequences.

  • There has been a lively discussion on improving Korean students' academic achievement and the imbalance in their recognition of the value of mathematics. In this context, there is a need for a program that enables the majority students who regards mathematics as a subject for the entrance examination to recognize the practicality and historicity of mathematics. Educational books on mathematics in everyday life or the history of mathematics are also expected to serve as an effective tool. In addition, Web 2.0 Map is another means of representing mathematics in everyday life and the history of mathematics in connection with the practical context. The active storytelling process in which mathematics in the practical context in mathematical educational books is represented in Web 2.0 Map is expected to help to understand in depth the practicality and historicity of mathematics. Nevertheless, mathematical educational books and Web 2.0 Map may lead to a considerable variety of outcomes and speeds if carrying out tasks depending on the student's competence and may have practical difficulties in being operated in class. These concerns, however, can be resolved through the creative activity programs adopted in conformance with the 2009 revised curriculum. Therefore, this study intends to develop a program for creating mathematical story maps through mathematical educational books and the Mashup of Web 2.0 Map in accordance with the process of developing activity programs. This study also intends to determine its effectiveness in enabling students to recognize the practical and historical values of mathematics.

A Study on the Risk Control Measures of Ship′s Collision (선박충돌사고 위험성 제어방안에 관한 연구)

  • The prevention of marine accidents has been a major topic in marine society for long time and various safety policies and Countermeasures have been developed and applied to prevent those accidents. In spite of these efforts, however significant marine accidents have taken place intermittently. Ship is being operated under a highly dynamic environments and many factors are related with ship's collision and those factors are interacting. So, the analysis on ship's collision rouses are very important to prepare countermeasures which will ensure the safe navigation. This study analysed the ship's collision data over the past 10 years(1991-2000), which is compiled by Korea Marine Accidents Inquiry Agency. The analysis confirmed that ‘ship's collision’ is occurred most frequently and the cause is closely related with human factor. The main purpose if this study is to propose risk control countermeasures of ship's collision. For this, the structure of human factor is analysed by the questionnaire methodology. Marine experts were surveyed based on major elements that were extracted from the human factor affecting to ship's collision FSM has been widely adopted in modeling a dynamic system which is composed of human factors. Then, the structure analysis on the rouses of ship's collision using FSM are performed. This structure model could be used in understanding and verifying the procedure of real ship's collision. Furthermore it could be used as the model to prevent ship's collision and to reduce marine accidents.

Experimental Study of Endostar Injection Concomitant with Cryoablation on Lung Adenocarcinoma A549 Xenografts

  • Objective: To explore the inhibiting effect and mechanism of Endostar injection concomitant with cryoablation on lung adenocarcinoma A549 xenografts in nude mice. Materials and Methods: A total of 24 nude mice with subcutaneous xenografts of the A549 cell line were established and divided into 4 groups when the maximal diameters of tumors became 1 cm: control group, Endostar group, cryoablation group and combination group (Endostar concomitant with cryoablation). The nude mice were sacrificed after 21-days treatment, tumour tissues were removed to measure their volume, in situ test of TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) was adopted to determine the cellular apoptosis around freezing injury zones, and immunohistochemical SP test was applied for the detection of micro-vessel density (MVD) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression levels. Results: At 21-days after treatment, the growth velocities of control group, Endostar group, cryoablation group and combination group were $236.7{\pm}51.2%$, $220.0{\pm}30.6%$, $159.5{\pm}29.3%$ and $103.3{\pm}25.5%$ (P<0.01), while cellular apoptosis rates of tumors were $21.7{\pm}2.34%$, ($22.17{\pm}1.47$)%, $38.3{\pm}1.37%$ and $49.2{\pm}1.72%$, (P<0.01), respectively, according to the immunohistochemical test. MVD and VEGF expression levels in the combination group were both lower than in other groups (P<0.01), also being positively related (r=0.925, P<0.01). Conclusions: Endostar can significantly improve the inhibitory effects of cryoablation on xenografts of lung adenocarcinoma A549, and the mechanism is probably associated with its function as an inhibitor of tumour neo-angiogenesis through down-regulating VEGF expression.

Study on Determinant of Mode Choice based on Analysis on Median Exclusive Bus Lane Effects (중앙버스전용차로 시행에 따른 통행수단선택 변화에 관한 연구)

  • Comparing to the constant-increasing number of vehicles, road facilities supply such as road construction has already reached the uppermost limit. As one of the most serious issues that the public would personally deal with every day, such is some road traffic problem to be solved instantly. Median exclusive bus lane is now being conducted as a way to enhance efficiency of the public transportation system in Transportation System Management, and with a main arterial that connects Kyeryong-ro (Wolpyeong 3~West Daejeon 4, 6.3km) and Daedeok-daero (Daedeok Bridge 4~Kyeryong 4, 2.6km) in Daejeon adopted as a research target, the study analyzed effects of the arterial by VISSIM the microsimulation. During the analysis, the study focused on figuring out effects of owner-drivers' transport mode choice to take a bus a public transit. According to the simulation results, as people take a bus at the median exclusive bus lane not crb bus lane, traffic for general vehicles has been negatively effected with less drive ways for the vehicles. However, when it comes to the bus traffic, the new transport mode choice appeared to have a quite positive influence after all. A binary logit model analysis reported that owner-drivers might take a bus more often when they earn lower incomes, when they do not travel far, when poor parking is expected and lastly, when they are familiar with using the median exclusive bus lane.

Preclinical Study of DA-5018, a Non-narcotic Analgesic Agent

  • DA-5018 is a synthetic capsaicin derivative under development as a non-narcotic a analgesic ag$\varepsilon$nt. DA-50 18 showed a potent analgesic activity against acute and chronic pain m model(Tablel, 2.), but it had a narrow margin of safety. DA-5018 did not bind to opioid(${\kappa}, {\delta}, {\mu}$), NKl, CGRP receptors in vitro and its analgesic effect was not antagonized by naloxone, a and it did not develop analgesic tolerance. In addition DA-5018 had no inhibitory effects against c cyclooxygenase and 5-lipooxygenase activities. DA-5018 significantly increased the relcase of substance P from the slices of the rat spinal cord. These results suggest that DA-50 18 is not a narcotic nor aspirin-like analgesic and the release of substance P is one of analgesic mechanism of action of DA-5018. We found that DA-5018 was almost ten times more potent and was at l least IOO-times less irritable compared to capsaicin. Accordingly development of topical formula was adopted. Topical formula was desiged and screened by flux test of DA-5018 using hairless mouse skin and several formulas were selected. With these topical formulas we a assessed the analgesic efficacy and carried out the toxicity, skin irritation and pharmacokinetic studies. In streptozotocin-induced hyperalgesic rat and 50 % galactose-fed hyperalgesic rat as diabetic pain models, DA-5018 cream increased the pain thresh이ds up to 77.0% and 24.4% respectively, while Zostrix-HP(capsaicin cream) incr$\varepsilon$as cd by 65.9% and 21.0%. DA-5018 c cream showed a good analgesic effect as welI in FCA-induced arthritic rat. DA-5018 cream did not show any toxicological signs in acute and chronic toxicity test and had little skin irritation in car swclIing and scratching t$\varepsilon$st. Pharmacokinetics of DA-50 18 were studied after topical application of ${14}^C$-Iabelled or unlabelIed DA-5018 cream. Plasma and skin concentrations c except applied skin wcre below the dctection limit and after 7-day cummulative application, plasma concentrations were also below detection limit DA-50 18 may have an advantag$\varepsilon$ ov$\varepsilon$r c capsaicin and is now being developed as a topical agent for the treatment of pains. DA-50 18 cream was approved for Korean IND and is now under a Phase II clinical study for arthritic pain a after finising Phase I study.   • This paper describes the design of a FEM(Front End Module) having power detection function for mobile handset application. The designed FEM consists of a MMIC(Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) power amplifier chip, SAW Tx filter and duplexer, diode power detector and stripline matching circuit. An LTCC(Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) technology is adopted for miniaturized FEM. The frequency band is $824{\sim}869$ MHz which is the uplink Tx band of the CDMA mobile system. The size of designed FEM is $7.0{\times}5.5{\times}1.5\;mm^3$, which is an ultra-small size even though the power detector circuit is included. All sub-components of FEM have been developed and measured in advance before being integrated into FEM. The measured output power and gain are 27 dBm and 27 dB, respectively. In addition, the measured ACPR characteristics are 46.59 dBc and 55.5 dBc at 885 kHz and 1.98 MHz offset, respectively.

Application of non-destructive method for evaluation of soil nail length (쏘일네일의 길이평가를 위한 비파괴 기법의 적용)

  • As soil nails support a ground by the friction between nails and soils being reinforced, the length of soil nails is important factor for a ground stability. Thus, the soil nail length has to be accurately evaluated in order to secure a ground stability. The goal of this study is to suggest the applicability of the non-destructive method as the basic research for the evaluation of the soil nail length. First, the elastic and electromagnetic waves are adopted to select an applicable method for the soil nails connected by the coupler. Test results show that while the ultrasonic waves are not detected due to the coupler, the electromagnetic waves are free for the influence of the coupler. Second, electromagnetic waves are measured for combined soil nails with the length of 1 m~15 m for the investigation of the characteristics of electromagnetic waves. The travel time of the electromagnetic wave increases with an increase in the soil nail length. In addition, the ground cable is used to apply the electromagnetic waves to pre-installed soil nails. Test results show that the travel time of the electromagnetic wave by using the ground cable increases with an increase in soil nail length. This study demonstrates that the electromagnetic wave may be a promising method for the evaluation of the soil nail length.

  • The performance-related industry has grown independently without being protected by the nation's great policy and legal boundary in the meantime. Even in the aspect of performance Act, the thoroughly pro-regulation policy on culture & art was taken while proceeding with segmenting the legislation rather than the freedom of performance art or the promotion of performance activity. Totally 17 cases of regulations including the abolition of scenario review system in January 1999 were fully abolished. Even 6 cases of regulations were steeply eased. Also, the importance of culture & art was recognized. Thus, to promote and support it in the governmental dimension, the substantial performance art policy system was adopted for training the performance art staff manpower and the national subsidy on performance hall. In performance art, the necessity of professionals' participation was imprinted such as stage lighting, sound, and stage machine. Accordingly, many regulations on performance art were all abolished except only the minimum issues for maintaining public order in about 50 years since the establishment of the government. 'Movie' was excluded from the definition of 'public performance' in 2002. Thus, the performance report system, which had been left institutionally from the Japanese colonial period, was eternally abolished. Following this, the performance Act was changed into the legislation of the supporting promoting policy, which reflected historical situation of needing to contribute to promoting public welfare, from the regulation-centered Act.
