This study examines shopping orientation regarding bedclothes and the effect of the segmentation of consumers on the image of Hanji yarn bedclothes derived from mulberry fiber in order to contribute to the development of Hanji bedclothes products and consumer marketing segmentation. Data from 294 questionnaires filled out by female consumers in their 30s to 50s were used for statistical analysis. The shopping orientations for bedclothes are classified into six groups (trend oriented, material oriented, price oriented, convenience oriented, individuality oriented, and assurance oriented). Consumers were subdivided into four consumer segments (show-offish, self-confident, reasonable, and unconcerned case) based on shopping orientations for bedclothes. The images of Hanji bedclothes are categorized into four types (classic, practical, aesthetic, and natural) as related to the shopping orientations of consumers. In terms of consumer segmentation, the 'reasonable' segment is more likely to consider the 'classic' image of Hanji bedclothes as the highest image value; however, the 'show-offish' segment provides the highest value to the 'practical' image as compared to other segments.
Presently, sleep disorders are rapidly increasing due to sudden social development and lifestyle diversification. Among the various factors contributing to comfortable sleep, bedclothes are a major factor that readily influence the sleeping conditions, as they directly come in contact with the human body. This study therefore researches use and purchasing status of bedclothes by consumers, as well as the subjective satisfaction. This would accordingly help us to understand the consumers' performance needs, and collect basic data to develop bedclothes that assist comfortable sleep. This study used multiple choice questions and a 5-point Likert scale in a survey-style research. The results of the study indicate that consumers prudently considered practicality and durability, as bedclothes are seldom purchased. The most preferred material was cotton, but the use of microfiber, a new material, has also increased. Further, consumers' preferred lightweight bedclothes that displayed excellent water absorption, thermal insulation, durability, detergency, and flexibility. Hence, bedclothes developed according to the results of this study are expected to aid comfortable sleep.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the preference and the use of the bedclothes. The data were obtained from market research of 12 department stores which were located in Seoul, Daegu and Busan, and from questionnaires completed by 356 women in Daegu area whose age was 20 years and older. The SPSS package was used for data analysis which includes frequency, percentage, $X^2$test, ANOVA, and Scheffe test. Cotton was the most popular fiber for coverings and fillings. Color preference was in the order of pastel, non-chromatic, vivid, and white color and pattern preference was in order of floral, check, and stripe pattern. Practicality, color and fabric were the most important factors and price was the most unsatisfied factor when bedclothes were purchased. Also, information for bedclothes was obtained mainly through internet shopping, home shopping or catalog shopping.
House dust mite was the most important cause of allergic asthma and rhinitis. More than 70% of Korean children and about 50% of adult with respiratory allergy were sensitive to house dust mite. This experiment was indoor environment in house and house dust mite existence inquiry. From 23rd December 2005 to 28th February 2006, dust samples were collected from the bedclothes by a vacuum cleaner and air sampler And the levels of Der f1 and Der p1 were determined by ELISA((Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay). The results were as follows : 1 The dust mites allergy contaminations of bedclothes in house were higher than international standards(2000 ng/g). 2. In type of dust mite, the Korean house the almost have the D. farinae other than D. pteronyeeinus of mite. 3. The Der f1 and Der p1 levels per gram of dust from the bedclothes were 2074.99 ng on average, but they did not exist in air. The concentrations of house dust mite were significantly high in the bedclothes. This results suggest that the bedclothes have enough concentrations of dust mites to develop the sensitization. The control of indoor environment should be emphasized to prevent the sensitization by the repeated exposure to dust mite.
The objectives of this study were to classify bedclothes purchase motives and to examine how bedclothes purchase mo-tives and design preferences very accord-ing to age and income. Samples were 217 housewives residing in metropolitan area. Questionnaire included 17 Likert type items of bedclothes pur-chase motive measure 12 items of color preference 7 items of pattern (floral geo-metric abstract stripe plaid polka dot, and paisley pattern). The results of the study were as fol-lows. 1. 5 factors of bedclothes purchase mo-tives were derived by factor analysis ; F .1 'design': F 2. "brand' ; F.3. 'deficiency'; F. 4. 'fabric' F.5. 'economical reason' 2. Subjects perceived design and utility area to be important motives for bed-clothes purchase. 3. Cholor preference of bedclothes was in the order of white pale blue pale green and pale orange. Pattern preference was in the order of stripe plaid solid color floral and polka dot pattern. The combi-nation of patterned fabric and solid color fabric was liked better than the combina-tion of analogic color and the combination of contrasting color. 4. The women in their 20's liked navy blue red stripe plaid pattern and solied color better than 30's and 40's . 40's liked abstract and paisley pattern better then 20's and 30's 5. Low income group lied navy blue and solid color fabric more than the mid-dle and high income group and liked ab-stract pattern less than the middle and high income group. 6. Women in their 20's perceived design to be important motive more than 30's and 40's. 30's perceived brand to be im-portant motive than 20's and 40's 7. High income group perceived design to be important motive more than the middle and low income group. Low in-come group perceived brand and fabric to be less important motives than the middle and high income group, The present findings provide that age and income had a significant effect on bedclothes purchase motives and design preferences of houesewives. The results that white color and the combination of patterned fabric and solid color fabric were liked best indicated that women prefered clean image and chacteristics de-sign of bdeclothes.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between life styles and use of the bedclothes. The data were obtained from questionnaires completed by 356 women in Daegu area whose age was 20 years and older. The SPSS package was used for data analysis which includes frequency, percentage, $\chi$$^2$-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, and cluster analysis. The life styles of the respondents were classified into 6 factors such as shopping-oriented, family-oriented, achievement-oriented, value-oriented, conservative, and economic type. Three clusters were developed by 6 factors of life styles. Demographic characteristics and preference, use, and purchase behavior of the bedclothes for three clusters were analysed.
The main purpose of the study were to investigate the agreeability on the use of the bedclothes of Korea. For this purpose, a questionaire was sent to 600 mothers of students at middle school, high school and university in Seoul, Daejeon, Kwangju. The results were as follows; 1. The type of house greatly influences the style of sleeping and most families have a traditional Korean style sleeping environment. 2. Management of bedclothes were important on comfort sleeping of the subjects. 3. The type of sleepwear, Subjects shown a greater preference for Pajama style than One-piece style. 4. The chemi-physical aspect was shown as an important factor in the demand of selection motive of bedclothes for agreeability. 5. But Psychological aspect was shown an important factor in the demand of selection motive of sleepwear for agreeability.
Purpose: The treatment of thyroid cancer patients was continuously increased. According to the increment of thyroid cancer patients, the establishment of iodine therapy site was also increased in each hospital. This treatment involves the administration of radioactive iodine, which will be given in the form of a capsule. Therefore, protections and managements for radioactive source pollution and radiation exposure should be necessary for radiation safety. Among the many problems, the problem of disposing the radioactive wastes was occurred. In this study, The date for self-disposal for radioactive wastes, which were contaminated in clothes, bedclothes and trash, were calculated. Materials and Methods: The number of iodine therapy ward was 15 in Korea Institute of Radiological Medical and Sciences. Recently, 8 therapy wards were operated for iodine therapy patients and others were on standby for emergency treatment ward of any radiation accidents. Radioactive wastes, which were occurred in therapy ward, were clothes, bedclothes, bath cover for patients washing water and food and drink which was leftover by patients. Each sample was hold into the marinelli beaker (clothes, bedclothes, bath covers) and 90 ml beaker (food, drink, and washing water). The activities of collected samples were measured by HpGe MCA device (Multi Channel Analysis, CANBERRA, USA) Results: The storage period for the each kind of radioactive wastes was calculated by equation of storage periods based on the measurement outcomes. The average storage period was 60 days for the case of clothes, and the maximum storage period was 93 days for patient bottoms. The average storage period and the maximum storage period for the trash were 69 days and 97 days, respectively. The leftover foods and drinks had short storage period (the average storage period was 25 days and maximum storage period was 39 days), compared with other wastes. Conclusion: The proper storage period for disposing the radioactive waste (clothes, bedclothes and bath cover) was 100 days by the regulation on self-disposal of radioactive waste. In addition, the storage period for disposing the liquid radioactive waste was 120 days. The current regulation for radioactive waste self-disposing was not suitable for the circumstances of each radioactive therapy facility. Therefore, it was necessary to reduce the leftover food and drinks by adequate table setting for patients, and improve the process and regulation for disposing the short-half life radioactive wastes.
In this study, the mechanical properties and hand characteristics of the knitted and woven fabrics for bedding items are investigated in accordance with fabric structural parameters including the fiber type and proportion, the density of the fabric, and the knit/weave structure. The knit stitches and structure of the knit samples made an effect on tensile properties. The bending, shear and compression properties for the knit fabric were mainly affected by fiber contents of the samples. The tensile and bending properties of woven samples were highly correlated with the fabric density, thickness and structure, and those shear and compression properties were affected by the fiber contents and structure. Consequently, the primary hand values of the selected samples we developed were estimated to have good smoothness, fullness and softness, and soft feeling, which is well correlated to the parameters of consumer preference such as softness, warmness, and bulkiness. Also, their total hand values were increased.
