To investigate the safety and toxicity of a recombinant human erythropoietin, YHB216, we performed 4-week repeated dose toxicity test in 4-month-old Beagle dogs. We injected intravenously everyday for 28 days with dosages of 0, 500, 2,500 and 12,500 I.U/kg body weight. There were not observed clinical signs or motality in the animals treated with YHB216. There were no significant changes in body weight, feed, or water consumption.(omitted)

An adult beagle dog was presented with a cervical mass detected by palpation and computed tomography. Fine needle aspirates revealed numerous epithelial cells with plasmacytoid appearance and frequent naked nuclei. Histologically, the mass consists of multiple packets of neoplastic cells and extensive areas of necrosis and fibrosis. Neoplastic cells were also found in submandibular lymph nodes. Immunohistochemistry showed that neoplastic cells were positive for calcitonin and negative for thyroglobulin. Based on these findings, the cervical mass was diagnosed as thyroid C-cell carcinoma. Almost one year after the surgical excision, the dog remains healthy without any symptom of recurrence or metastasis.

The protective effect of human urinary trypsin inhibitor (UTI) on acute pancreatitis was studied in beagle model. After pancreatitis was experimentally induced in beagle dogs by infusing trypsin and sodium taurocholate into the accessory pancreatic ducts under laprotomy, effects of UTI were compared to those of aprotinin. Routine physical examination, hematology and blood chemistry values were used as parameters and checked on a periodical basis during the experiment. At the end of experiment, surviving animals were sacrificed and liver, kidney, and pancreas were histologically examined. The results of this study warrant the development of UTI as new therapeutics for acute pancreatitis.

기존의 임베디드 시스템의 경우 busybox를 이용하여 리눅스를 빌드하여 사용한다. 하지만 busybox에서 제공하는 기본 명령어만 사용할 수 있기 때문에 시스템 개발에 제한이 많다. 그러나 이와 달리 데비안이나 레드햇, 슬랙웨어 등의 리눅스 배포판은 다양한 명령어를 통해 시스템 개발의 자유를 보장할 수 있다. 그렇지만 busybox보다 운영체제의 크기가 크고 부팅속도도 느려 임베디드 시스템에 사용하기에 적합하지 않다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 리눅스 배포판을 최적화하여 기존 리눅스 배포판보다 크기가 작고 부팅속도가 빠른 최적화된 리눅스 배포판을 제안한다. 구현 및 성능 분석 결과 최적화된 리눅스 배포판은 기존의 리눅스 배포판보다 용량이 85.87% 줄었고, 기존 부팅 속도의 20%로 부팅 속도 또한 증가되었다.

Kami-honghwa-tang(KH-19) is a prescription for reducing the side effect of radiotherapy. In this study, safety of KH-19 was evaluated by GLP guideline of Korea Food and Drug Administration. In acute oral toxicity study on rat, transient inhibition of weight increase was shown, but change in general symptom was not detected. No dead animal was observed up to 5,000 mg/kg in both male and female animals. In acute oral toxicity study on Beagle dog, transient vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and weight reduction was observed. However, no dead animal was observed up to 2,000 mg/kg in both male and female animals.

The primary routes of drug administration include oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous and intravenous dosing for toxicological risk assessment purpose in dog. There has been an increase applying transdermal patches as an alternate method for systemic delivery. The present study was performed to establish the transdermal delivery method of medicated ointment, liquid and powder material to beagle dog.(omitted)
