In this study, a lithium polymer battery (LiPB) is simply expressed by a primary RC equivalent model. The PI state observer is designed in Matlab/Simulink. The non-linear relationship with the OCV-SOC is represented to be linearized with 0.1 pu intervals by using battery parameters obtained by constant-current pulse discharge. A state equation is configured based on battery parameters. The state equation, which applied Peukert's law, can estimate SOC more accurately. SOC estimation capability was analyzed by utilizing reduced Federal Test Procedure (FTP-72) current profile and using a bi-directional DC-DC converter at temperature ($25^{\circ}C$). The PI state observer, which is designed in this study, indicated a SOC estimation error rate of ${\pm}2%$ in any of the initial SOC states. The PI state observer confirms a strong SOC estimation performance despite disturbances, such as modeling errors and noise.
This research presents the battery discharge rate models for the energy consumption of mobile phone batteries based on machine learning by taking into account three usage patterns of the phone: the standby state, video playing, and web browsing. We present the experimental design methodology for collecting data, preprocessing, model construction, and parameter selections. The data is collected based on the HTC One X hardware platform. We considered various setting factors, such as Bluetooth, brightness, 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Sync. The battery levels for each possible state vector were measured, and then we constructed the battery prediction model using different regression functions based on the collected data. The accuracy of the constructed models using the multi-layer perceptron (MLP) and the support vector machine (SVM) were compared using varying kernel functions. Various parameters for MLP and SVM were considered. The measurement of prediction efficiency was done by the mean absolute error (MAE) and the root mean squared error (RMSE). The experiments showed that the MLP with linear regression performs well overall, while the SVM with the polynomial kernel function based on the linear regression gives a low MAE and RMSE. As a result, we were able to demonstrate how to apply the derived model to predict the remaining battery charge.
Computational modelling and simulation for the charge-discharge characteristics of Lithium-ion batteries have been carried out. The battery system consists of a simplified 2-dimensional single cell for the modelling, in which the thermal modelling on the charge-discharge characteristics was conducted in the temperature range from 288 K through 318 K by using FEMLAB as an engineering PDE solver. While material parameters adopted in the present modelling were dependent on the system temperature, their thermal modelling were applied on the simulations of the charge-discharge period and the rate of transferring charges systematically. The resulting simulation shows that the cycle of the charge-discharge shorten itself by reducing the system temperature, regardless of the charge-discharge rates. In addition, the mass-transport phenomena of Lithium ion have been discussed in connection with the charge-discharge characteristics in the battery.
The various expanded graphites (EGs) was prepared and applied as anode material for high power Li-ion secondary battery (LIB). By changing the processing conditions of EG, a series of EG with different structure were produced, showing the changed electrochemical properties. The charge-discharge test showed that the initial reversible capacity of EG anodes prepared at the suitable conditions was over 400 mAh/g and the charge capacity at 5 C-rate was 83.2 mAh/g. These values demonstrated the much improved electrochemical properties as compared with those for the graphite anode of 360 mAh/g and 19.4 mAh/g, respectively, showing the possibility of EG anode materials for high power LIB.

The electrolyte flow rates of vanadium redox flow battery play very important role in terms of ion transfer to electrolyte, kinetics and pump efficiency in system. In this paper a vanadium redox flow battery single cell was tested to suggest the optimization criteria of electrolyte flow rates on the efficiencies. The compared electrolyte circulation flow rates in this experimental work were 15, 30 and 45 mL/min. The charge/discharge characteristics of the flow rate of 30 mL/min was the best out of all flow rates in terms of charging and discharging time. The current efficiencies, voltage efficiencies and energy efficiencies at the flow rate of 30 mL/min were the best. The IR losses obtained at thd current density of $40mA/cm^2$, at the flow rates of 15, 30 and 45 mL/min were 0.085 V, 0.042 V and 0.115 V, respectively. The charge efficiencies at the current density of $40mA/cm^2$ were 96.42%, 96.45% and 96.29% for the electrolyte flow rates of 15, 30 and 45 mL/min, respectively. The voltge efficiencies at the current density of $40mA/cm^2$ were 77.34%, 80.62% and 76.10% for the electrolyte flow rates of 15, 30 and 45 mL/min, respectively. Finally, the energy efficiencies at the current density of $40mA/cm^2$ were 74.57%, 77.76% and 73.27% for the electrolyte flow rates of 15, 30 and 45 mL/min, respectively. The optimum flow rates of electrolytes were 20 mL/min in most of operating variables of vanadium redox flow battery.

This paper deals with the state of charge(SOC) and life cycle evaluation algorithm for lead-acid battery, which is essential factor of the electric vehicle(EV) and the stabilization of renewable energy in the smart grid. In order to perform the effective operation of the lead-acid battery, SOC and life cycle evaluation algorithm is required. Specific gravity with the change of electrolyte temperature inside battery case should be obtained to evaluate the SOC of lead-acid battery, however it is difficult to measure the electrolyte temperature of sealed type lead-acid battery. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes the equation of thermal transmission to compensate internal temperature of the lead-acid battery. Also, it is difficult to exactly evaluate the life cycle of battery, depending on the operation conditions of lead-acid battery such as charging and discharging state, self discharging rate and environmental issue. In order to solve the problem, this paper presents the concept for gravity accumulation of charge and discharge cycle, which is the value converted at $20^{\circ}C$. By using the proposed algorithm, this paper propose the test device based on the Labview software. The simulation results show that it is a practical tool for the maintenance of lead-acid battery in the field of industry.

The purpose of this research is to develop the lithium secondary battery. This paper describes the preparation, electrochemical properties of nontstoichiometric(NS)-$V_6O_{13}$ and characteristics of Li/$V_6O_{13}$ secondary battery. NS-$V_6O_{13}$ was prepared by thermal decomposition of $NH_4VO_3$ under Ar stream of 140ml/min~180ml/min flow rate. And then, this NS-$V_6O_{13}$ was used for cathode active material. Cathode sheet was prepared by compressing the composite of NS-$V_6O_{13}$, acetylene black(A.B) and teflon emulsion (T.E). Characteristics of the test cell are summarised as follows. Oxidation capacity of NS-$V_6O_{13}$ was about 20% less than its reduction capacity. A part of NS-$V_6O_{13}$ cathode active material showed irreversible reaction in early charge-discharge cycle. This phenomena seems to be caused by irreversible incoporation/discoporation of lithium cation to/from NS-$V_6O_{13}$ host. Discharge characteristics curve of Li/$V_6O_{13}$ cell showed 4 potential plateaus. Charge-discharge capacity was declined in the beginning of cycling and slowly increased in company with increasing of coulombic efficiency. Energy density per weight of $V_6O_{13}$ cathode material was as high as 522Wh/kg~765Wh/kg.

Along with the high interest in electric vehicles and new renewable energy, there is a growing demand to apply lithium-ion batteries in the construction equipment industry. The capacity of heavy construction equipment that performs various tasks at construction sites is rapidly decreasing. Therefore, it is essential to accurately predict the state of batteries such as SOC (State of Charge) and SOH (State of Health). In this paper, the errors between actual electrochemical measurement data and estimated data were compared using the Dual Extended Kalman Filter (DEKF) algorithm that can estimate SOC and SOH at the same time. The prediction of battery charge state was analyzed by measuring OCV at SOC 5% intervals under 0.2C-rate conditions after the battery cell was fully charged, and the degradation state of the battery was predicted after 50 cycles of aging tests under various C-rate (0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5C rate) conditions. It was confirmed that the SOC and SOH estimation errors using DEKF tended to increase as the C-rate increased. It was confirmed that the SOC estimation using DEKF showed less than 6% at 0.2, 0.5, and 1C-rate. In addition, it was confirmed that the SOH estimation results showed good performance within the maximum error of 1.0% and 1.3% at 0.2 and 0.3C-rate, respectively. Also, it was confirmed that the estimation error also increased from 1.5% to 2% as the C-rate increased from 0.5 to 1.5C-rate. However, this result shows that all SOH estimation results using DEKF were excellent within about 2%.

However when the system being shutdown. However when the system being driven in parallel a circular-current can be generated,. It is shown that as a result the new batteries are heated by over-charge and over-discharge and the over charge current increases rust of the positive grid and consequently shortens the lifetime of the new batteries. The difference between the new batteries and old ones is the amount of internal resistance. In this paper we can detect the unbalance current using the microprocessor and achieve the balance current by adjusting resistance of each set, The internal resistance of each set becomes constant and the current of charge and discharge comes to be balanced by inserting the external resistance into the system and calculating the change of internal resistance.

A battery is the device that transforms the chemical energy into the direct-current electrical energy directly without a mechanical process. Unit cells are connected in series to obtain the required voltage, while being connected in parallel to organize capacity for load current and to decrease the internal resistance for corresponding the sudden shift of the load current. Because the voltage droop down in one set of battery is faster than in tow one, it amy result in the low efficiency of power converter with the voltage drop and cause the system shutdown. However, when the system being driven in parallel, a circular-current can be generated. The changing current differs in each set of battery because the system including batteries, rectifiers and loads is connected in parallel and it makes the charge voltage constant. It is shown that, as a result the new batteries are heated by over-charge and over-discharge, and the over charge current increases rust of the positive grid and consequently shortens the lifetime of the new batteries. The difference between the new batteries and old ones is the amount of internal resistance. In this paper, we can detect the unbalance current using the micro-processor and achieve the balance current by adjusting resistance of each set. The internal resistance of each set becomes constant and the current of charge and discharge comes to be balanced by inserting the external resistance into the system and calculating the change of internal resistance.
