A CHARGER/DISCHARGER FOR MODELING OF SERIAL/PARALLEL CONNECTED NI-MH BATTERY

  • Equalizing the state of charge of cell that affects the charge/discharge quality and efficiency of the battery through the charge/discharge characteristic experiments of battery source, we develope the high efficiency charge/discharge system which would be used in serial HEV with the constant engine-generator output. For this, establishes the electrical model of Ni-MH battery appropriate to the high efficiency charge/discharge conditions. There is no model of Ni-MH cell, so we used Ni-Cd model and obtain the Ni-MH model through the experiment. A reason that each cell has the same charge/discharge property for applying the cell model to serial/parallel connected battery source extensively is needed. Therefore, in this paper, propose the Ni-MH charger/discharger has the equalization charging function and selectable cut-off function.

  • Lithium-ion batteries have been designed and used as battery packs with series and parallel combinations that are suitable for use. However, due to its internal electrochemical properties, producing the battery's condition at the same value is impossible for individual cells. In addition, the management of characteristic deviations between individual cells is essential for the safe and efficient use of batteries as aging progresses with the use of batteries. In this work, we propose a method to manage deviation properties and detect abnormal behavior in the configuration of a combined battery pack of these multiple battery cells. The proposed method can separate and detect probabilistic low-frequency information according to statistical information based on Z-score. The verification of the proposed algorithm was validated using experimental results from 10S3P battery packs, and the implemented algorithm based on Z-score was validated as a way to effectively manage multiple individual cell information.

  • This paper represent about design of the controller for battery of a reflector of retaining wall for power supply using PV Module. Simulation is represents V-I and power characteristic by Mathematica & Design Cneter 6.3 & Qnet 2.1 Finally we composed of road surface-signpost system. This system is successfully operating with high clearness lights.

  • This Paper focuses on modeling and simulation to analyze the characteristic of hybrid vehicle. The system includes proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC), photovoltaic generator(PV), lead-acid battery, motor, vehicle and controller. Main electricity is produced by the PEMFC and battery to meet the requirements of a user load. When vehicle is parked in a sunny place, extra power is generated by the photovotaics and is charged in a battery for next drive. Further we evaluate usefulness of this hybrid vehicle by using ADVISOR - the advanced vehicle simulator written in the Matlab/Simulink environment. According to simulation results, the extra power obtained by photovoltaics which have been explored in nature conditions can help to reduce the electrical load of PEMFC and increase the efficiency (over 30%).

  • 축전지 용기는 폴리프로필렌으로 사출되며, 결정성 고분자 수지로 변형이 많이 일어나는 특성이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 축전지 용기의 사출시 사용되는 Gate를 개선하여 금형의 공정을 단순화시킴으로써 생산비용의 절감과 성형품의 품질개선에 중점을 두고 CAE 해석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 성형과 제품에서 발생될 수 있는 유동의 불균형과 변형 등을 예측하여 제품의 불량률 감소로 신뢰성 향상에 기여할 것이다.

  • The Lithium ion secondary battery has been developed for high energy density of portable electrical device and electronics. Among the many conductive polymer materials, the positive active film for Li polymer battery system was synthesized successfully from polyphenylene diamine(PPD) by chemical polymerization in our lab. And PPD-DMcT(2, 5-dimercapto-1, 3, 4-thi-adiazole) composite flim conductive material, at high temperature was also prerared with the addition of dimethylsulfoxide(DMSO). The surface morphology and thermal stability of prepared composite flim was carried out by using SEM and TGA, respectively. Electrochemical and electrical conductivity of composite flim were also discussed by cyclic voltammetry and four-probe method in dry box(<27pm). And the electrode reaction mechanism was detected and analyzed from the half cell unit battery system.

  • The flooded type battery is used for solar lighting system. Because the characteristic of flooded type battery is the short life time, the maintenance cost is high. So the using floe fed type battery in this system is inappropriate. The valve regulated lead acid batter(VRLA) is the maintenance free and cycle service purpose. This paper presents the development of control system and monitoring system to applied VRLA battery for maintenance free and long life time in system.

  • Increased fossil fuel consumption causes global warming, environmental pollution, and abnormal climate change. Wind-generated power installation is proposed to solve this problem. Recently, the wind power plant construction case encourages the installation of the energy storage system (ESS) to improve the intermittency of wind power. The maximized ESS operation profits connected to wind power are not generated in the simplest operation pattern of charging at night and discharging at day. The battery charging efficiency improvement should be considered to get more profits. Thus, there is a possibility of increasing ESS operation profits by analyzing the battery AC and DC charging/discharging efficiency and the yearly average sealed maintenance free (SMP) in hours. In this paper, the battery impedance characteristic, AC and DC charging/discharging efficiency, and the yearly average SMP are analyzed. The operation scenario to improve the ESS battery charging efficiency connected to wind power is proposed and verified via simulation.

  • Portable electronic devices secondary batteries can cause fire and explosion due to micro-current change in addition to the situation of short-circuit inrush current, safety can not be secured with a general operation limited current fuse. Therefore, in secondary battery, it is necessary for the protector to satisfy both the limit current type operation in the open-short-circuit inrush current and the current detection operation characteristic in the micro current change situation and for this operation, a fuse for the current detection type secondary battery protection circuit can be applied. The purpose of this study is to design a protection device that operates stably in the hazardous situation of small capacity secondary battery for portable electronic devices through the design of low melting fuse elements alloy of sensing type fuse and secures stability in abnormal current state. As a result of the experiment, I-T and V-T operation characteristics are satisfied in a the design of the alloy of the current sensing type self-contained low melting point fuse and the resistance of the heating resistor. It is confirmed that it can prevent accidents of short circuit over-current and micro current change of secondary battery.

  • 최근 이차전지는 다양한 산업 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 특히 소형 및 경량의 특성으로 스마트폰, 노트북, 태블릿 등 다양한 휴대용 전자기기에서 높은 에너지 밀도와 충·방전 효율을 토대로 전기자동차와 에너지저장시스템(Energy Storage System, ESS)의 핵심 부품으로 사용되고 있다. 하지만 이차전지의 과도한 충·방전에 따른 수명감소, 파열, 손상, 화재 등의 문제점이 발생하고 있다. 따라서 BMS(Battery Management System)를 통하여 과도한 충·방전을 보호하고 성능을 향상시킨다. 하지만 실제 리튬이온 배터리를 사용하여 BMS의 차단 및 보호범위 설정하는 데 있어서 이차전지의 수명감소, 파열, 손상, 화재의 문제점이 따른다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 배터리 충방전기와 시뮬레이터를 활용하여 이차전지 중 사용이 높은 리튬이온 배터리와 납축전지의 충전 및 방전 특성을 살펴본다.
