  • In order to develop navigation systems, simulators that provide navigation sensors data are required. A trajectory generator that simulates vehicle motion is needed to generate navigation sensors data in the simulator. In this paper, a trajectory generator for evaluating navigation system performance is proposed. The proposed trajectory generator consists of two parts. The first part obtains parameters from the motion scenario file whereas the second part generates position, velocity, and attitude from the parameters. In the proposed trajectory generator six degrees of freedom, halt, climb, turn, accel turn, spiral, combined, and waypoint motions are given as basic motions with parameters. These motions can be combined to generate complex trajectories of the vehicle. Maximum acceleration and jerk for linear motion and maximum angular acceleration and velocity for rotational motion are considered to generate trajectories. In order to show the usefulness of the proposed trajectory generator, trajectories were generated from motion scenario files and the results were observed. The results show that the proposed trajectory generator can accurately simulate complex vehicle motions that can be used to evaluate navigation system performance.

  • In this paper, the simple geometric kinematics of a three-wheeled holonomic mobile robot is proposed. Wheel architecture is developed for the holonomic mobile platform in order to provide omni-directional motions by three individually driven and steered wheels. Three types of basic motions are proposed for the path generation of the developed mobile robot. All paths of the mobile robot can be achieved through a combination of the proposed basic motion trajectories. The proposed method is verified through computer simulations and the developed mobile robot.

  • It is important to understand the trajectory of structure in launching process because of the short time of launching process may result in unexpected accidents or damage to structures. The high risk of structural failure is not avoidable without the fully comprehension of changing forces in launching procedure. The commercial software can evaluate the motion of launching event in calm water condition but there is the limitation of research application because of the programmed commercial software. The launching process of the spar hull is suggested with stage concept that is divided into 10 stages in time domain. A force equilibrium diagram is derived for each stage where the changes of force vector and motion characteristics take place. In particular, the effects of changes in buoyancy and drag force due to the progressive submergence of the spar hull are taken into account by means of a touch length concept. The results contained in this paper provide the valuable information of the trajectory motion evaluation with suggested methods in spar launching process with sliding barge. Furthermore, the presented stage concept and touch length concept will provide basic knowledge for understanding launching process and help to develop further research area for launching analysis.

  • The motion of birds and insects have been studied and applied to MAV(Micro Air Vehicle) and AUV(Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). Most of AUV research is focused on shape and motion of single hydrofoil. However, double hydrofoil system is mostly used in real physics. This system shows completely different hydrodynamic characteristic to single hydrofoil because of wake interaction. The goal of this study is define the trajectory of wake interaction in double hydrofoil system. Moreover, trust and efficiency of various combined motion will be demonstrated. Symmetry airfoil is used for analysis an hydrodynamic characteristic. Forward wing's plunging and pitching motion is fixed, hide wing's Heaving ratio, Pitch phase shift from forward plunging and Heaving shift is changed. This study provide necessary basic data of motion optimization for double hydrofoil system.

  • Biped locomotion is a popular research area in robotics due to the high adaptability of a walking robot in an unstructured environment. When attempting to automate the motion planning process for a biped walking robot, one of the main issues is assurance of dynamic stability of motion. This can be categorized into three general groups: body stability, body path stability, and gait stability. A zero moment point (ZMP), a point where the total forces and moments acting on the robot are zero, is usually employed as a basic component for dynamically stable motion. In this rarer, learning based neuro-fuzzy systems have been developed and applied to model ZMP trajectory of a biped walking robot. As a result, we can provide more improved insight into physical walking mechanisms.

  • This paper proposes command signal generating method for a wearable robot using the force as the input signal. The basic concept of this system pursues the combination of the natural and sophisticated intelligence of human with the powerful motion capability of the robot. We define a task for the command signal generation to operate with the human body simultaneously, paying attention to comfort and ease of wear. In this study, we suggest a basic exoskeleton experimental system to evaluate a HRI(Human Robot Interface), selecting interfaces of arm braces on both wrists and a weight harness on the torso to connect the robot and human. We develop the HRI to provide a command for the robot motion. It connects between the human and the robot with the multi-axis load-cell, and it measures the relative force between the human and the robot. The control system calculates the trajectory of end-effector using this force signal. In this paper, we verify the performance of proposed system through the motion of elbow E/F(Extension/Flexion), the shoulder E/F and the shoulder Ab/Ad (Abduction/Adduction).

  • In this paper, we propose a cost-aware Rapidly-exploring Random Tree (RRT) path planning algorithm for mobile robots. A mobile robot is presented with a cost map of the field of interest and assigned to move from one location to another. As a robot moves, the robot is penalized by the cost at its current location according to the cost map. The overall cost of the robot is determined by the trajectory of the robot. The goal of the proposed cost-aware RRT algorithm is to find a trajectory with the minimal cost. The cost map of the field can represent environmental parameters, such as temperature, humidity, chemical concentration, wireless signal strength, and stealthiness. For example, if the cost map represents packet drop rates at different locations, the minimum cost path between two locations is the path with the best possible communication, which is desirable when a robot operates under the environment with weak wireless signals. The proposed cost-aware RRT algorithm extends the basic RRT algorithm by considering the cost map when extending a motion segment. We show that the proposed algorithm gives an outstanding performance compared to the basic RRT method. We also demonstrate that the use of rejection sampling can give better results through extensive simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method which generates the trajectory of the mouth shape for the characters by the user inputs. It is based on the character at a basis syllable and can be suitable to the mouth shape generation. In this paper, we understand the principle of the Korean language creation and find the similarity for the form of the mouth shape and select it as a basic syllable. We also consider the articulation of this phoneme for it and create a new mouth shape trajectory and apply at face of an 3D avatar.

  • Walking is a periodic motion that contains specific phases and is a basic movement method for humans. Through gait analysis, various musculoskeletal health conditions can be identified. In this study, we propose a calf wearable sensor system that can perform gait analysis without space limitations. Using a ToF(: Time-of-Flight) sensor that measures distance and an IMU(: Inertial Measurement Unit) sensor that measures inclination the heel trajectory of walking was derived by proposed method. In case of abnormal gait with risk of fall, gait is evaluated by analyzing the change pattern of the heel trajectory.

  • Internet of Things (IoT) is widely used for biomechanics in sports activities and AHRS(Attitude and Heading Reference System) is a more cost effective solution than conventional high-grade IMUs (Inertial Measurement Units) that only integrate gyroscopes. In this paper, we attach the AHRS to the snowboard to measure the motion data like Air To Fakie, Caballerial and Free Style. In order to reduce the measurement error, we have adopted the sensors equipped with Kalman filtering and also used Euler angle to quaternion conversion to reduce the Gimbal-lock effect. We have tested and evaluated the accuracy and execution time of the pattern recognition algorithms like PCA, ICA, LDA, SVM to show the recognition possibility of it on the basic motions of Snowboarding from the 9-axis trajectory information which is gathered from AHRS sensor. With the result, PCA, ICA have low accuracy, but SVM have good accuracy to use for recognition of basic motions of Snowboarding.
