  • This paper concerns the load carrying capacity of back-to-back reinforced soil wall for use in roadway and railway construction. Two test conditions, designed with due consideration of the FHW A design guideline, were first developed and a number of cases having different reinforcement lengths were tested under a surchage loading until failure. The results indicated that for cases in which two sides of reinforcements do not overlap, the wall behavior was similar to those of single wall. For cases in which the reinforcements overlap each other, on the other hand, the load carrying capacity of the wall significantly decreased when reinforced with reinforcement layers having lengths less than 50% of the wall height.

  • Purpose: The strength of hand grip, low back muscles and knee joint muscles were measured and then compared to the bone mineral density (BMD) of each forearm bones (including ulna and radius), lumbar spine, and femur in young women in order to identify the relationship between muscle strength and bone mineral density. Method: The BMD was measured with a Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry and muscle strength was measured with a handgrip dynamometer and a Cybex Norm. Data were analyzed with frequencies, percentages, means, and Pearson correlation coefficients. Result: 1) Higher grip strength correlated positively with higher BMD in the forearm (r=.246, p=.007), higher low back extensor strength with higher BMD in the femur (neck, trochanter and Ward's triangle)($r=.323{\sim}.226$, $p=.003{\sim}.043$) and higher strength in the knee joint extensor with higher BMD in the lumbar spine (r=.227, p=.041), femur neck, and femur trochanter significantly ($r=.295{\sim}.226$, $p=.007{\sim}.043$). There was no significant correlation between the strength of low back extensors and BMD in the lumbar spine, now with strength of knee joint flexor and the BMD in the femur. 2) The muscle strength of each part of the body had significant positive correlations to each other part ($r=.255{\sim}.728$ $p=.021{\sim}.000$) Conclusion: The results of this study showed that with the development of a muscle there was an increased BMD of the corresponding part, and the BMD of each part was influenced by adjacent muscles. To promote the health of bones, it is important to strengthen the muscles of related bones, based on balanced development of all muscles.

  • Back pains include pain in one or both side costa portion and lateral abdomen. There are different kinds of flank-related disease such as intercostal nerve pain, chronic gastritis, duodenitis, herpes zoster, pepticulcer, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis and so on. Back pain arises from pathological abnormal activities. On the other hand psychogenic pains are caused by psychogenic factors without pathological abnormal activities. This is similar to KiWol back pain, which resulted from psychogenic factors like stress, anxiety, anger and etc. In oriental medicine, KiWol is the state of depression of Ki, and Shihosogansan used to treat the back pain diagnosed as stagnation of the liver Ki. So, we decided to apply Shihosogansan to a patient who suffered from back pain diagnosed as stagnation of the liver Ki. Therefore the patient treated with Shihosogansan and improved in consciousness symptoms, so we report it for the better treatment.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of exercise therapy on low back pain, self-urination disorder, bleeding, and hematoma in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) patients. Methods: A total of 64 PCI patients were recruited from C hospital located in C city, from June until August of 2010. The patients were divided into two groups as the exercise and control group. Thirty-two participants in the exercise group took bedrest for two hours after PCI, and then received excise therapy. The other 32 participants in the control group took the usual 8-hour bedrest with intermittent back care by the unit nurses. Results: In the relieving effect of low back pain, exercise group reported pain reduced faster than the control group. On the other hand, there were no significant differences between the two groups in alleviant of self-urination disorder, bleeding, and hematoma. Conclusion: Exercise therapy for reducing patients' low back pain showed to be an effective nursing intervention. Since there was no bleeding or hematoma after PCI in the exercise group, this study provided the ground suggesting that it might be possible to reduce the bedrest time after PCI without increased risk of bleeding or hematoma.

  • The purpose of this study was to review the relevant literature about coaching and thereupon, survey the coaching methods used for golfer lesson to reinterpret them and thereby, describe in view of kinetics the swing errors committed frequently by amateur golfers and suggest more scientific golfer coaching methods. For this purpose, kinetic elements were divided into precision and power ones and therewith, the variables affecting such elements were identified. On the other hand, swings were divided into address, take-back, back-swing, back-swing top, down-swing, impact and follow-through to determine 20 variables for each form and thereby, define their errors to determine the relations between their frequency and errors. For this study, a total of 60 amateur golfer were sampled, and their swing forms were photographed with two high-speed digital cameras, and the resultant images were analyzed to determine the errors of each form kinetically, which would be analyzed again with the program V1-5000. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; The kinetic elements could be identified as precision, power and precise power. Thus, setup and trajectory were classified into precision elements, while differences of inter-joint angles, cocking and delayed hitting. Lastly, timing and axial movement were classified into precise power elements. Three errors were identified in association with setup. The errors related with trajectory elements accounted for most (7) of the 20 errors. Three errors were determined for inter-joint angle differences, and one error was associated with cocking and delayed hitting. Lastly, one error was classified into timing error, while five errors were associated with axial movement. Finally, as a result of arranging the errors into a cross table, it was found that the errors were associated with each other between take-back and back-swing, take-back and follow-through, back-swing and back-swing top, and between back-swing and down-swing. Namely, an error would lead to other error repeatedly. So, it is more effective to identify all the errors for every form and correct them comprehensively rather than single out the errors and correct them one by one.

  • The purpose of this study was to present the method to choose the optimum machining condition for the wire EDM. This was completed by examining the ever-changing quality of the material and by improving the function of the wire electric discharge machine. Precision metal mold products and the unmanned wire electric discharge machining system were used and then applied in industrial fields. This experiment uses the wire electric discharge machine with brass wire electrode of 0.25mm. To measure the precision of the machining surface, average values are obtained from 3 samples of measures of center-line average roughness by using a third dimension gauge and a stylus surface roughness gauge.

  • In order to clear the basic concept about oriental medical physiology and pathology, We studied the theory of three yin, three yang, and it is based on the principle that yang goes forward and yin goes back. The result were summarized as follows. 1. It showed how to originate about the concept of three yin three yang. 2. It showed the logical basis concerning that the TAIYANG channels are open, the YANGMING channels are shut, the SHAOYANG channels are pivots, the TAIYIN open, SHAOYIN shut, JUEYIN pivots. 3. According to the opening, closing, pivoting principle, It explained the exterior and interior relation such as TAIYANG and SHAOYIN, YANGMING and TAIYIN, SHAOYANG and JUEYIN. 4. According to the opening, closing, pivoting principle, It showed that arteries of the twelve channels rotated in lung channel of hand-TAIYIN, the large intestine channel of hand-YANGMING, the stomach channel of foot-YANGMING, the spleen channel of foot-TAIYIN, the heart channel of hand-SHAOYIN, the small intestine channel of hand-SHAOYANG, the urinary bladder channel of foot-TAIYANG, the kidney channel of foot-SHAOYIN, the pericardium channel of hand-JUEYIN, the sanjiao(三焦) channel of hand-SHAOYANG, the gall bladder channel of foot-SHAOYANG, the liver channel of foot-JUEYIN. 5. As arteries of the twelve channels was based on the cycle, the logical criticism about Napgibup(納氣法) was shown.

  • Mainly through the pervasive emergence of portable devices (laptops, PDAs, now iPods), the screen arts, that is, the cinematic arts has suffered the loss of what constitutes the core of its existence: the theatre and theatre-audience. This paper discusses cinema's distinct place and significance in culture and its difference from television and other forms of mass media. The most pressing question at hand would be, "how do you bring back attention to the medium that is distinctly cinematic?" "How do you bring people back to the theatres?" This paper argues that cinema, and the film industry as a whole must push for a technological leap that is in conjunction with culture. With mentioning of the rapid development of 3D technologies in the moving images, this paper proposes that such technological novelties and innovation are necessary conditions for a new kind of film culture to emerge.
