Objective: To conserve and utilize the genetic resources of a traditional Chinese indigenous pig breed, Liangshan pig, we assessed the genetic diversity, genetic structure, and genetic distance in this study. Methods: We used 50K single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) chip for SNP detection of 139 individuals in the Liangshan Pig Conservation Farm. Results: The genetically closed conserved population consisted of five overlapping generations, and the total effective content of the population (Ne) was 15. The whole population was divided into five boar families and one non-boar family. Among them, the effective size of each generation subpopulation continuously decreased. However, the proportion of polymorphic markers (PN) first decreased and then increased. The average genetic distance of these 139 Liangshan pigs was 0.2823±0.0259, and the average genetic distance of the 14 boars was 0.2723±0.0384. Thus, it can be deduced that the genetic distance changed from generation to generation. In the conserved population, 983 runs of homozygosity (ROH) were detected, and the majority of ROH (80%) were within 100 Mb. The inbreeding coefficient calculated based on ROH showed an average value of 0.026 for the whole population. In addition, the inbreeding coefficient of each generation subpopulation initially increased and then decreased. In the pedigree of the whole conserved population, the error rate of paternal information was more than 11.35% while the maternal information was more than 2.13%. Conclusion: This molecular study of the population genetic structure of Liangshan pig showed loss of genetic diversity during the closed cross-generation reproduction process. It is necessary to improve the mating plan or introduce new outside blood to ensure long-term preservation of Liangshan pig.
The objective of this study was to estimate genetic parameters for racing performance traits of thoroughbredracehorses, using a total of 58,124 racing records of 4,200 horses at Gwacheon Racing Park collected from January 2002 to December 2006. This study measured start one furlong time, last three and last one furlong times, and the resulting furlong time averages were 14.2 seconds, 39.9 seconds and 13.9 seconds, respectively. Furlong time means a split time measured based on a 1/8-mile (or approximately 201 m) distance and finished time means total racing time measured from start position to finish line. In the shortest distance races of 1,000 m, the average last three and last one furlong time was fastest at 38.7 seconds and 13.6 seconds, respectively. The correlation between finished time and start one furlong time decreased as the race distance increased, and the same trend was recognized from the correlation between finished time and last three furlong time. In short distance races of 1,400 m or less, the starting ability was found to be an important trait. The average speed was highest at 56 km/h for a 1,000 m race and lowest at 53.2 km/h for a 1,700 m race. Heritabilities of the start one furlong time, the last three and last one furlong time were estimated to be 0.337, 0.245 and 0.210, respectively; and repeatabilities for them were 0.452, 0.353 and 0.309, respectively. Phenotypic and genetic correlations between the start and the last one furlong time were negative at -0.141 and -0.155, respectively.

Purpose: This study was conducted to figure out the cognitive characteristics of the elderly living in apartment complex in order to construct basic data for the design of sustainable and age friendly apartment area. Methods: Cognitive map was used to identify and analyze the elderly residents' status of residential environment cognitions. The elderly living in Gongreung-dong apartment was randomly interviewed outdoor area and requested to draw cognitive maps on their living environment. 26 valid cognitive maps collected were analyzed, classified into two different types: Line type and Dot type. The average age, cognitive distance, length of residence, number of elements in the map(complexity) were then compared by Line and Dot type, as well as by gender. Correlations among variables also were analysed. Results: Males showed a tendency to draw dot types, which means they are place-centered, and females drew line types more than males, which means they are way-centered. The average cognitive distance of male group was greater than that of female group. As the age went up, the number of perceived place and the cognitive distance decreased. Oder people tended to draw line types rather than dot types. As the cognitive distance was longer, the perceived place and the number of lines increased. Implications: The age was more related to the recognition of the residential environment. The younger the residents were, the more they recognized the elements. The points that were represented by dots in the cognitive maps are places for memories for the individuals. Creating more memorable spaces will affect the cognition of residents on living environment. It is better to improve the cognitive environments before cognitive abilities of residents decrease.

Dredging and land reclamation works has actively carried out for the efficient use of land and secure of agricultural and industrial site. During the reclamation, a portion of landfills are lost from the desired location due to a variety of causes. However, these causes has been rarely studied, and water flow velocity has a great influence on the movement of landfills. For the economical and efficient reclamation, it is important to predict the movement of landfills in water. In this paper, an experimental study was carried out to investigate the deposition distance according to the flow velocity and soil grain size. We have made a large open-channel apparatus that can reproduce a laminar flow, and the deposition test was carried out on the four grain size (0.638, 1.425, 3.375, 7.125 mm) and four flow velocity (0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.67 m/s) with high definition video recording. As a results, average deposition distance increased with the flow velocity, and its relationship is shown linearly. For the grain size, the average deposition distance were drastically increased as the grain size becomes smaller.
Line special frequency (LSF) parameters have been widely used in low bit-rate speech coding due to their efficiency for representing the short-time speech spectrum. In this paper, a new distance measure based on the masking properties of human ear is proposed for quantizing LSF parameters whereas most conventional quantization methods are based on the weighted Euclidean distance measure. The proposed method derives the perceptual distance measure from the definition of noise-to-mask ratio (NMR) which has high correspondence with the actual distortion received in the human ear and uses it for quantizing LSF parameters. In addition, we propose an adaptive bit allocation scheme, which allocates minimal bits to LSF parameters maintaining the perceptual transparency of given speech frame for reducing the average bit-rates. For the performance evaluation, we has shown the ratio of perceptually transparent frames and the corresponding average bit-rates for the conventional and proposed methods. By jointly combining the proposed distance measure and adaptive bit allocation scheme, the proposed system requires only 770 bps for obtaining 95.5% perceptually transparent frames, while the conventional systems produce 89.9% at even 1800 bps.

Objective: This study aimed to identify the different wind speed categories and competitive level among windsurfers through GPS variables to provide the useful information on the development of training programs for enhancing windsurfers' performance. Method: Data from 69 female athletes who participated in 27 races during the 2018-2019 windsurfing season were used for the analysis. Average board speed, total race time, total distance, upwind race time, downwind race time, beam reach race time were collected through GPS. Unconfirmed data were excluded along with penalty point data. The wind conditions were classified as light, light to medium, medium, medium to heavy, and heavy wind, the competitive levels were classified as level 1, level 2, and level 3. Results: As for the average board speed, the level 1 or level 2 group showed higher board speed than the level 3 group in all wind conditions except for the light wind. The total race time and upwind race time showed less time in level 1 or level 2 group than level 3 group in all wind conditions. The total distance, downwind race time and beam reach race time showed less distance and time in level1 group than level 3 group under sufficient wind conditions. Conclusion: Our results show that the aerobic capacity to sustain pumping during upwind course in wind conditions below 15 kts effects performance. In wind conditions of 15 kts or more, indicated that the board control for the fast board speed and small distance required during up, down, beam reach courses had an effect on competition performance. This information can be provided to windsurfers and coaching as basic data for training programs to improve performance.
The main goal of this study was to determine the genetic diversity among 36 grape cultivars grown in Palestine by using ISSR-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) fingerprints. Among the tested primers, 17 produced reasonable amplification products with high intensity and pattern stability. A total of 57 DNA fragments (loci) separated by electrophoresis on agarose gels were detected and they ranged in size, from 150 to 900 bp. Out of these fragments, 55 (88%) were polymorphic and 2 (3.5%) monomorphic. Our results also revealed an average of 3.1 loci per primer. A minimum of 1 and maximum of 10 DNA fragments were obtained (S-17, #820 and #841) and (S-31) primers, respectively. Therefore, the later primer (S-31) is considered to be the most powerful primer among the tested ones. The genetic distance matrix showed an average distance range of between 0.05 and 0.76. The maximum genetic distance value of 0.76 (24% similarity) was exhibited between the (Shami and Marawi.Hamadani.Adi) as well as (Bairuti and Marawi.Hamadani.Adi) genotypes. On the other hand, the lowest genetic distance of 0.05 (95% similarity) was exhibited between (Jandali.Tawel.Mofarad and Jandali. Kurawi.Mlzlz) along with (Shami.Aswad and Shami.mtartash. mlwn) genotypes. Furthermore, the UPGMA dendrogram generally clusters the grape cultivars into eight major clusters in addition to an isolated genotype. Based on these figures, the cultivars tested in this study could be characterized by large divergence at the DNA level. This is taking the assumption that our region has a very rich and varied clonal grape genetic structure.

In the case of a scanning type multi-channel LiDAR sensor, the distance error called a walk error may occur due to a difference in received signal power. This work error causes different distance values to be output for the same object when scanning the surrounding environment based on multiple LiDAR sensors. For minimizing walk error in overlapping regions when scanning all directions using multiple sensors, to calibrate distance for each channels using convolution on external system. Four sensors were placed in the center of 6×6 m environment and scanned around. As a result of applying the proposed filtering method, the distance error could be improved by about 68% from average of 0.5125 m to 0.16 m, and the standard deviation could be improved by about 48% from average of 0.0591 to 0.030675.

It is confirmed that as the distance measurements accuracy of the SDS-TWR(Symmetric Double-Sided Two-Way Ranging) based on CSS(Chirp Spread Spectrum) is considerably degraded due to frequency interference and it causes to severe errors in the localization applications. In this paper, the compensation algorithm based on error rate offset of distance measurement ($CA_d$) is proposed for the purpose to reduce the ranging errors due to by the SDS-TWR ranging problems. The $CA_d$ measures the distance values between two nodes by means of 1m interval about 1~25m distances in the SDS-TWR, and compensates the distance values using the parameters related to the distance compensation. From the experiments, it is analyzed that the $CA_d$. have reduced the distance error to average 95cm and maximum 526cm, and the distance error by the $CA_d$ was below about 60cm in the 25m distances. In particular, the performance of the distance measurements accuracy by the $CA_d$ is very high in LOS(Line Of Sight) environments.
This study aimed to find the association between geographic proximity and program participation at a Healthy Family Support Center (HFSC). Drawing demographic and geographic information from the participant list at a local HFSC in Seoul for the period 2009 to 2011, this study calculated the geographic distance from the individual residence to the center for 2,343 participants. We found that single time participants had a longer distance from their residence to the center than multiple time participants. When we compared the proximity by program areas, we found that the geographic distance to the center was shorter among education program participants than among non participants. However, there was no difference in the other areas of programs. In terms of the target group, the distance was shorter among adult program participants. Finally, the average distance among participants in multiple session programs was shorter. The results of this study indicated that the relationship between geographic proximity and program participation depended on program areas, target groups, and the number of sessions.
