  • This thesis researches consumers' behaviors in Purchasing avatar fashion products depending on their motives and point of reference as the avatar fashion marketing is conducted. Also, it explores the correlation between avatar's fashion products and the point of reference by which consumers actually purchase casual wear. The results were as follows: First, Avatar's fashion product purchasing motivation is done through four classified dimensions, conformity, differentiation, fashionability, and substitution. The standard of Avatar's fashion product choice was classified by the symbol (Product name recognition) and two dimensions of aesthetics. Second. the more valued the aesthetic component of Avatar's fashion product the greater effect on the order the dimensions used in correlation in this case being substitution, differentiation, conformity, and fashionability. Should the consumer place greater value on the Product symbol the dimension order is affected in order by fashionability, conformity, and differentiation. Third, fashionability was a stronger consideration for women as opposed to men in terms of demographical feature. whereas symbol (Product recognition) was of greater importance to higher income people. Last, when aesthetics is considered to buy Avatar's fashion products it is favorably comparable to other casual wear lines. In other words, symbol is considered to buy casual's, it brings to the same result when buying Avatar's. Avatar's fashion product was great tool to research new casual wear line because of approving by the correlation to each other.

3차원 아바타 모델을 활용한 의류상품 제시가 소비자 접근행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Presentation of Apparel Products on Consumers' Approach Behavior using 3D Avatar Model)

  • This study utilizes a S-O-R model to investigate the effects of apparel product presentations using a 3D avatar model in Internet fashion malls for pleasure(emotional state) and approach behavior. We chose a 3D avatar model to present a fashion product in this study. The model walked for about one minute on stage; subsequently, respondents completed a questionnaire after they viewed it. The questionnaire consists of telepresence, pleasure and approach behavior. Respondents are limited to females 20s and 30s years old who have purchased fashion products in an Internet mall and are highly interested in fashion products. A total of 226 samples were used for the final analysis. Cronbach's alpha, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modeling were utilized in this study. The results are as follows. First, telepresence has a significant influence on pleasure; subsequently, pleasure influenced consumer approach behavior. Second, telepresence positively influenced the approach behavior (directly and indirectly). This verified the effectiveness of a 3D avatar model using S-O-R. A 3D avatar model can be a strategic alternative in the fiercely competitive Internet shopping sector.

아바타 패션마케팅에 따른 아바타 의복 이미지와 캐주얼 브랜드 이미지 비교 연구 (Comparative Study on Avatar's Clothing Image and Casual Brand Image based on Avatar's Fashion Marketing)

  • Objectives of this study were to investigate about the avatar's fashion products efficiency on casual wear advertisements to study about the effect of avatar's clothing image provided by apparel industry and to investigate about the effort of avatar's fashion product on apparel advertisement for fundamental data on the avatar's fashion marketing. Following were the summaries of the results: First, in terms of the correlation between avatar's clothing and casual brand images of nate avatar's fashion marketing, avatar's clothing image of FUBU male, female and maru male, female that is reformative, characteristical, unique and sensitive to latest fashion has positive correlation with FUBU and maru brand images. Therefore, consumers' higher perception on avatar's clothing image that are 'reformative', 'characteristical' and 'unique', indicated higher casual brand image perception, proving avatar's clothing image is effective in suggesting the brand. Second, in terms of advertising the avatar by clothing them with garments of each brand and comparing avatar's clothing and casual brand images, active avatar's clothing image of FUBU male, female emphasized active brand image of FUBU. However, FUBU male avatar's clothing image did not emphasize 'reformative', 'characteristical', 'cool', or 'sensitive to latest fashion' images compared to FUBU female avatar's clothing image. Also, in case of maru, 'male', 'conseuative' and 'insensitive to latest fashion' image of male avatar clothing emphasized maru brand image. Maru female's 'unpractical' ,'female' and 'characteristical' images emphasized maru brand image.

Tone in Text and the Effect on Trust and Choice Confidence in Online Fashion Shopping

  • Consumers' psychological demands for e-tail shopping have increased as websites have become one of the most dominant retail outlets for various fashion products. The lack of realistic social stimuli in virtual contexts (websites) has been a major limitation for many online shoppers. Prior research has focused on the viable role of technology to improve positive social factors in e-tailing; however, this study tests the role of tone in text in fashion e-tail sites on consumers' trust and choice confidence. We conducted a self-administered online survey with 309 individuals from the U.S.. The results indicated positive effects of casual tone in text-based content of a fashion e-tail site on trust and confidence. Trust also has a significant positive effect on confidence. Both trust and confidence improved purchase intention. Given the high price of employing an avatar or simulated salesperson online, using tone in text to increase positive social effect on shoppers can be a positive alternative when managers plan e-tail strategies contributing to consumers' positive shopping experience online. Discussions and study limitations are provided.

움직임 보조를 위한 무릎 보호대 디자인 제안: 선호도 및 가상 착용 이미지를 이용한 만족도 평가를 중심으로 (Suggestions of Movement-Assistive Knee Pad Designs: Focusing on Preference and Satisfaction Evaluations Using Virtual Avatars' Wearing)

  • This study evaluated designs via the consumers' function and design preferences survey for using product design images, virtual avatar wearing images and product explanations that identified consumers' function and design preferences for knee protection pads as well as to develop movement assistive knee pad designs. We developed Design A for men and Design B for women. For Design A, the front of the knee supports muscles and alleviates pain with a hole. Mesh material with good ventilation was applied to enhance wearing comfort. The color was achromatic for a modern style, and the hook fastener and loops enabled easy wear and removal of the pad while controlling size and pressure strength. For Design B, taping details seamlessly support muscles in the knee area with fabrics less than 0.1 cm thick and with long sleeves in the diverse sizes. The design's satisfaction assessment showed that potential consumers were satisfied with Design A and Design B for overall design and functional features. Over 77% wanted to use/wear and purchase designs; in addition, over 78% expected it would help with walking and relieve knee pain. The results can be helpful for designers when deciding designs for manufacturing and commercializing kneepad products.

성별 및 연령에 따른 3차원 인체측정에 대한 태도 비교 (Gender and Age Differences in Attitude toward 3-D Body Scanning)

  • The purpose of this research is to compare the people’s attitude toward 3-D body scanning by their gender and age in order to provide the application of 3-D body scanning data for new services or products. This study collected questionnaire data from 442 Korean females and 258 Korean males who participated in the 3-D body scanning. The result of this study were as follows: 1. Most people had good feelings for 3-D body scanning. Male respondents were more dissatisfied than female, and teenagers had higher dissatisfaction rate than other age groups for the measurement garment. 2. 80.5% of all respondents had the intention for re-measurement of 3-D body scanning. Male respondents and teenagers had low intention for re-measurement. 3. For the use of 3-D body scanning data, 79.6% said "yes" for making avatar, and 88.3% agreed with the custom made clothes. There was no difference between gender and age for this question. The results of the study will demonstrate how clothing retailers and marketers can use the 3-D body scanning data.
