In recent years, many automatic classification approaches have been employed. An automatic classification method can be effective, time-saving and can produce objective results due to the exclusion of operator intervention. This paper proposes a classification method based on automated training for high resolution multispectral images using ancillary data. Generally, it is problematic to automatically classify high resolution images using ancillary data, because of the scale difference between the high resolution image and the ancillary data. In order to overcome this problem, the proposed method utilizes the classification results of a Landsat image as a medium for automatic classification. For the classification of a Landsat image, a maximum likelihood classification is applied to the image, and the attributes of ancillary data are entered as the training data. In the case of a high resolution image, a K-means clustering algorithm, an unsupervised classification, was conducted and the result was compared to the classification results of the Landsat image. Subsequently, the training data of the high resolution image was automatically extracted using regular rules based on a RELATIONAL matrix that shows the relation between the two results. Finally, a high resolution image was classified and updated using the extracted training data. The proposed method was applied to QuickBird and SPOT-5 images of non-accessible areas. The result showed good performance in accuracy assessments. Therefore, we expect that the method can be effectively used to automatically construct thematic maps for non-accessible areas and update areas that do not have any attributes in geographic information system.
It is generally accepted that classification accuracy is affected by the number of learning documents, but there are few studies that show how this influences automatic text classification. This study is focused on evaluating the deviation-based classification model which is developed recently for genre-based classification and comparing it to other classification algorithms with the changing number of training documents. Experiment results show that the deviation-based classification model performs with a superior accuracy of 0.8 from categorizing 7 genres with only 21 training documents. This exceeds the accuracy of Bayesian and SVM. The Deviation-based classification model obtains strong feature selection capability even with small number of training documents because it learns subject information within genre while other methods use different learning process.

This study aims to introduce an emerging prescriptive analytics method and suggest its efficient application to a category-based service system. Prescriptive analytics method provides the whole process of analysis and available alternatives as well as the results of analysis. To simulate the process of optimization, large scale journal articles have been collected and categorized by classification scheme. In the process of applying the concept of prescriptive analytics to a real system, we have fused a dynamic automatic-categorization method for large scale documents and intellectual structure analysis method for scholarly subject fields. The test result shows that some optimized scenarios can be generated efficiently and utilized effectively for reorganizing the classification-based service system.

This paper proposes an automatic equalizer control method in automobile audio system. The proposed method discriminates the music segment from the consecutive real-time audio stream of the radio and the equalizer is controlled automatically according to the classified genre of the music segment. For enhancing the accuracy of the music genre classification in real-time, timbre feature and rhythm feature extracted from the consecutive audio stream is applied to GMM(Gaussian mixture model) classifier. The proposed method evaluates the performance of the music genre classification, which classified various audio segments segmented from the audio signal of the radio broadcast in automobile audio system into one of five music genres.
The structural monitoring of multi-wire strands is of importance to prestressed concrete structures and cable-stayed or suspension bridges. This paper addresses the monitoring of strands by ultrasonic guided waves with emphasis on the signal processing and automatic defect classification. The detection of notch-like defects in the strands is based on the reflections of guided waves that are excited and detected by magnetostrictive ultrasonic transducers. The Discrete Wavelet Transform was used to extract damage-sensitive features from the detected signals and to construct a multi-dimensional Damage Index vector. The Damage Index vector was then fed to an Artificial Neural Network to provide the automatic classification of (a) the size of the notch and (b) the location of the notch from the receiving sensor. Following an optimization study of the network, it was determined that five damage-sensitive features provided the best defect classification performance with an overall success rate of 90.8%. It was thus demonstrated that the wavelet-based multidimensional analysis can provide excellent classification performance for notch-type defects in strands.

Research on automatic classification of records and documents has been conducted for a long time. Recently, artificial intelligence technology has been developed to combine machine learning and deep learning. In this study, we first looked at the process of automatic classification of documents and learning method of artificial intelligence. We also discussed the necessity of applying artificial intelligence technology to records management using various cases of machine learning, especially supervised methods. And we conducted a test to automatically classify the public records of the Seoul metropolitan government into BRM using ETRI's Exobrain, based on supervised machine learning method. Through this, we have drawn up issues to be considered in each step in records management agencies to automatically classify the records into various classification schemes.

In this paper, we conduct performance analysis in automatic modulation classification of unknown communication signal to identify its modulation types based on deep neural network. The modulation classification performance was verified using time domain digital sample data of the modulated signal, frequency domain data to which FFT was applied, and time and frequency domain mixed data as neural network input data. For 11 types of analog and digitally modulated signals, the modulation classification performance was verified in various SNR environments ranging from -20 to 18 dB and reason for false classification was analyzed. In addition, by checking the learning speed according to the type of input data for neural network, proposed method is effective for constructing an practical automatic modulation recognition system that require a lot of time to learn.
Automatic modulation classification(AMC) is a core technique in Software Defined Radio(SDR) platform that enables smart and flexible spectrum sensing and access in a wide frequency band. In this study, we propose a simple yet accurate deep learning-based method that allows AMC for variable-size radio signals. To this end, we design a classification architecture consisting of two Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)-based models, namely main and small models, which were trained on radio signal datasets with two different signal sizes, respectively. Then, for a received signal input with an arbitrary length, modulation classification is performed by augmenting the input samples using a self-replicating padding technique to fit the input layer size of our model. Experiments using the RadioML 2018.01A dataset demonstrated that the proposed method provides higher accuracy than the existing methods in all signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) domains with less computation overhead.

As basic data that can systematically support and evaluate R&D activities as well as set current and future research directions by grasping specific trends in domestic academic research, I sought efficient ways to assign standardized subject categories (control keywords) to individual journal papers. To this end, I conducted various experiments on major factors affecting the performance of automatic classification, focusing on feature selection techniques, for the purpose of automatically allocating the classification categories on the National Research Foundation of Korea's Academic Research Classification Scheme to domestic journal papers. As a result, the automatic classification of domestic journal papers, which are imbalanced datasets of the real environment, showed that a fairly good level of performance can be expected using more simple classifiers, feature selection techniques, and relatively small training sets.
In this study, automatic detection of stator winding inter-turn short circuit fault (SWISCFs) in surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs) and automatic classification of fault severity via a pattern recognition system (PRS) are presented. In the case of a stator short circuit fault, performance losses become an important issue for SPMSMs. To detect stator winding short circuit faults automatically and to estimate the severity of the fault, an artificial neural network (ANN)-based PRS was used. It was found that the amplitude of the third harmonic of the current was the most distinctive characteristic for detecting the short circuit fault ratio of the SPMSM. To validate the proposed method, both simulation results and experimental results are presented.
