  • Higher utilization of warehouse space can be achieved by using automated mobile racking systems. Therefore, those systems may be employed for factories or distribution centers as a good option of increasing the storage capacity. In this paper, travel-time models are developed to estimate the average performance of the system assuming randomized storage. Expected travel times are determined for both single- and dual-command cycles. Two extreme input/output-point locations are considered. Some numerical results obtained from the models are given.

  • This paper proposes an expert system which can enhance the accuracy of real-time bus reconfiguration strategy by adopting local minimum tree search method and minimize the spreading effect of the fault by considering totally the operating condition when a main transformer fault occurs in the automated substation. The local minimum tree search method to expand the best-first search method. This method has an advantage which can improve the performance of solution within the limits of the real-time condition. The inference strategy proposed expert system consists of two stages. The first stage determines the switching candidate set by searching possible switching candidates starting from the main transformer or busbar related to the event. And, second stage determines the rational real-time bus reconfiguration strategy based on heuristic rules for the obtained switching candidate set. Also, this paper studies the generalized distribution substation modelling using graph theory and a substation database is designed based on the study result. The inference engine of the expert system and the substation database is implemented in MFC function of Visual C++. Finally, the performance and effectiveness of the proposed expert system is verified by comparing the best-first search solution and local minimum tree search solution based on diversity event simulations for typical distribution substation.

  • Most of current Internet auction systems are simple server programs that partly automated the function of the conventional auction house. These system do not provide sufficient independence, distribution and parallelism between the functions of the conventional auction house. In there are automated by server program, but still users need to execute a repetitive task to monitor the dynamic progress of a certain auction, decide proper bid price, and submit the bid. Another problem is that they support only single as English auction and Dutch auction, but they do not support the double auctions are superior to the single auction with respect to speed., efficiency, and the fair distribution of profit. In this paper, we present design and implement of an agent-based continuous double auction system, called CoDABot, in order to mitigate the limitations of current auctions system. CoDABot supports continuous double auction, provides various bidding agent for users to select, and has been implemented into a multi-agent system that realize more independent, distributed, and parallel subsystems.

  • The measurement of 3D surface strain using the image processing method is another approach for strain measurement. The advantage of this method is that strains at several points included in a captured image can be obtained automatically from only one process. In this study, the whole process of automated surface strain measurement is presented. The strain distribution on a LDH specimen is illustrated as a result of the trial to develope an automated strain measurement system.

  • Distribution system can experience the diverse events instantly and permanently. Also, it can experience high impedance fault or line drop under unbalanced situation, Accordingly, it is difficulty to identify the fault location because that data collected from distribution SCADA system may include uncertainty. This paper proposes an expert system, which can infer the faulted location the quickly and exactly for the diverse events in the distribution system. The expert system utilizes distribution SCADA function and collected data, especially, the monitoring mechanism for the normal open position switches is adopted newly in order to recognize the fault type exactly. Also, automated fault location diagnosis strategy is developed in order to minimize the spreading effect of fault obtained from the error of the system operator. The proposed strategy is implemented in C language. Especially, in order to prove the effectiveness of proposed expert system, the several scenario is simulated for the given model system. The real feeders are selected as model system for the simulation.

  • The field test system covers three substation, 25 distribution feeders and 125 automated switches. Many small electric vendors participated in this project. Although each device is a small prototype, it was designed to carry out all of the functions. In performing the project, KEPRI has gained valuable experience, through dealing with many difficult problem. This paper is depicted about many kind of those difficult problems.

  • Recently, automated signature generation systems(ASGSs) have been developed in order to cope with zero-day attacks with malicious codes exploiting vulnerabilities which are not yet publically noticed. To enhance the usefulness of the signatures generated by (ASGSs) it is essential to identify signatures only with the high accuracy of intrusion detection among a number of generated signatures and to provide them to target security systems in a timely manner. This automated signature exchange, distribution, and update operations have to be performed in a secure and universal manner beyond the border of network administrations, and also should be able to eliminate the noise in a signature set which causes performance degradation of the security systems. In this paper, we present a system architecture to support the identification of high quality signatures and to share them among security systems through a scheme which can evaluate the detection accuracy of individual signatures, and also propose a set of algorithms dealing with exchanging, distributing and updating signatures. Though the experiment on a test-bed, we have confirmed that the high quality signatures are automatically saved at the level that the noise rate of a signature set is reduced. The system architecture and the algorithm proposed in the paper can be adopted to a automated signature sharing framework.
