The running attitude of a planing hull is determined by the pressure distribution on the hull bottom, and it significantly affects hydrodynamic performance of the ship, i.e., resistance, maneuverability, and seakeeping ability. Therefore, it is essential to investigate pressure distribution on the hull bottom in order to improve hull design. In the present study, a novel pressure measurement system using tactile sensors was introduced for a planing hull. The test model was a 23 m-class planing hull with a hard chine. The pressure measurement showed that the pressure at the transom was lower than the atmospheric pressure, owing to flow separation at the transom.

When operating a surveillance system in the maritime environment, its stabilization performance is degraded due to undesirable disturbance motions. For accurate target pointing of a 2-axes surveillance system on shipboard, the kinematic stabilization is first applied, which compensates a deviated motion via coordinate transformations of attitude information. Resultantly, the stabilization error is no longer reduced due to less accuracy of a MEMS sensor and kinematic constraint, leading to introduction of the image stabilization as a complementary function. And for real-time execution of the present dual stabilization scheme, a HILS (Hardware In the Loop Simulation) test bed including 6-dof motion simulator has been constructed, and through the obtained HILS data, it has been confirmed that the stabilization is successfully.

The availability of the GPS signal has been expanded greatly in the field of society overall through the development and construction of the GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System). Furthermore, in the military, aviation and field of space, the GPS signal is applied widely through the combination of INS consisting of gyroscope and accelerometer, IMU, AHRS with the addition of magnetic sensor. Particularly, the performance of these equipments or sensors is very important with GPS and PAR(Precision Approach Radar) in the flight control of the aircraft. This paper deals with MATLAB simulation and ROLSO(Reduced Order Luenberger State Observer) design to reduce the load of system and realize the stable lateral direction approach control in an appropriate time for reduction of the horizontal error which is importantly considered while an aircraft lands instead of the FOLSO(Full Order Luenberger State Observer) using all measurement values. Consequently, ROLSO is expected to be used for the aircraft's attitude control in the aircraft landing causing the burden to the pilots.

The CPS provides data with long-term stability independent of passed time and the INS provides high-rate data with short-term stability. By integrating these complementary systems, a highly accurate navigation system can be achieved. In this paper, a loosely-coupled GPS/INS integration system is designed. It is a simple structure and is easy to implement and preserves independent navigation capability of GPS and INS. The integration system consists of a NCU, an IMU, a GPS receiver, and a monitoring system. The navigation algorithm in the NCU is designed under the multi-tasking environment based on a real-time kernel system and the monitoring system is designed using the Visual C++. The integrated Kalman filter is designed as a feedback formed 15-state filter, in which the states are position errors, velocity errors, attitude errors and sensor bias errors. The van test result shows that the integrated system provides more accurate navigation solution then the inertial or the GPS-alone navigation system.
An algorithm developed for the precision correction of high resolution satellite images is introduced in this paper. In general, the polynomial warping algorithm which derives polynomial equations between GCPs extracted from an image and a base map requires many GCPs well-distributed over the image. The precision correction algorithm described in this paper is based on a sensor-orbit-Earth geometry, and therefore, it is capable of correcting a raw image using only 2-3 GCPs. This algorithm estimates the errors on the orbit determination and the attitude of the satellite by using a Kalman filter. This algorithm was implemented, tested and integrated into the KITSAT-3 image preprocessing software.
This paper proposes a vision-based underwater laser scanner with separate structures for an underwater camera and a line laser projector. Because the two devices can be adaptively placed regardless of the features of the unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV), the scanner has significant advantages in relation to its availability and flexibility. Position calibration between the underwater camera and laser projector guarantees a 3D measuring performance with high accuracy. To verify the proposed underwater laser scanner, a test-bed system was manufactured, which consisted of the laser projector, camera, Pan&Tilt, and Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS). A camera-laser calibration test and simple 3D reconstruction test were performed in a water tank and the experimental results are reported.

This paper describes an implementation of a graph-based simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) method called the General Graph Optimization. The General Graph Optimization formulates the SLAM problem using nodes and edges. The nodes represent the location and attitude of a robot in time sequence, and the edge between the nodes depict the constraint between the nodes. The constraints are imposed by sensor measurements. The General Graph Optimization solves the problem by optimizing the performance index determined by the constraints. The implementation is verified using the measurement data sets which are open for test of various SLAM methods.

In this study, the effects of hydrodynamic interceptors on a high-speed vessel were investigated to identify the operating principle based on experiments. Model tests were performed using a high-speed towing carriage. The resistance, trim and rise of Center of Gravity (CG) of the high-speed vessel were measured for various ship speeds and interceptor heights. As the interceptor height increased, the trim and rise of CG were reduced. In order to quantitatively analyze these phenomena, the pressure at the stern bottom was measured using tactile sensors. The reliability of the measured results from the tactile sensors was verified through repeat tests. The pressure on the stern bottom increased in proportion to the interceptor height, as the interceptor partially blocked the flow there. Then, the trim was reduced. However, as the ship speed increases, the pressure at the location close to the interceptor decreases when the interceptor height is small, leading to increased trim. Therefore, the interceptor height for running attitude control should be carefully determined considering multiple factors in the operating condition of the high-speed planing hull.

Landing site searching algorithms are developed for a quadrotor using a depth map in unknown environment. Guidance and control system of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) consists of a trajectory planner, a position and an attitude controller. Landing site is selected based on the information of the depth map which is acquired by a stereo vision sensor attached on the gimbal system pointing downwards. Flatness information is obtained by the maximum depth difference of a predefined depth map region, and the distance from the UAV is also considered. This study proposes three landing methods and compares their performance using various indices such as UAV travel distance, map accuracy, obstacle response time etc.
The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute is participating as a South Korean partner in the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS)of NASA. In response, the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute is currently conducting basic research for the development of four candidate instrument payloads. The magnetic field instrument is one of them and it's scientific mission objective is the moon's surface magnetic field investigation. Therefore, the development requirement of the lunar surface magnetic field instrument were derived and the initial conceptual design was started. The magnetic field instrument has a 1.2 meter boom which has two three-axis fluxgate magnetometer sensors and one gyro sensor to get a attitude information of the boom. The concept of measuring the lunar surface magnetic field will carry out using multiple sensors by placing semiconductor type magnetic field sensors inside the electric box including boom mounted fluxgate sensors. In order to overcome the very short development period, we will use the KPLO (Korean Lunar Pathfinder Orbiter) magnetometer design and parts to improve reliabilities for this instrument. In this presentation, we introduce the instrument requirements and conceptual design for the Lunar surface magnetic field instruments.
