  • This study examined the effect of leadership competence on job embeddedness among child co-residence workers to mitigate the negative impact of human resource management on their low job tenure and treatment. The study initially tested the mediating effects of social capital and organizational culture between the two variables, thereby suggesting ways to enhance job attendance among workers in children's shared family homes. The results of the study are as follows. Leadership competencies among child co-residence workers were found to have a positive effect not only on job embeddedness but also on social capital and organizational culture. Social capital and organizational culture were identified as mediators in the relationship between leadership competencies and job commitment The primary significance of this study lies in its identification of the relationship between leadership competence and job attendance - a factor previously overlooked. This finding offers a pathway to increase job attendance. Furthermore, the study expands the scope of relevant variables to include leadership competence, social capital, and organizational culture. Finally, it sheds light on the mediating effects of social capital and organizational culture on the relationship between leadership competence and job embeddedness.

  • This study examines the relationshipsbetween the antecedents of repurchase intention, with special interest in the role of appraisal emotion and recreation motivation for arts attendance. Appraisal emotion is found to have significant influence on perceived value while recreation motivation is found to directly influence appraisal emotion and perceived value. In a addition to customer satisfaction, peripheral service quality is the only factor that directly affectsrepurchase intention. Arts managers ought to focus on improving the whole experience of performing arts.

  • There is a large amount of empirical literature reporting that people who regularly attend religious services tend to have better health outcomes. However, it remains an unanswered question as to whether the observed correlation reflects any causality. Exploiting exogenous changes in church attendance driven by law changes in 21 states of the U.S., I find tentative but suggestive evidence that the observed strong correlation between religious participation and health is likely to be driven by endogenous selection.

  • Optimal nutrition in infancy and early childhood is the success behind good health, growth, and development of children. Failure to thrive may be the end point of any combination of a nutritional disorder, poor growth, and psychosocial deprivation. Hospital admission is rarely necessary and may be counterproductive. Day attendance, for investigation and observation of child-parent interaction, may be more valuable. Nutritional supplementation, together with nutritional counseling, can improve food intake and growth in children with failure to thrive.

  • The 20 five-year-old kindergarteners in the experimental group participated in 14 art criticism activities over an 8 week period. Analysis of the data by frequency, percentage, and t-test showed differences between the experimental and control groups. The experimental group improved in Visual Cue-Attendance and Evaluative Judgmental categories. Children in the experimental group also showed higher scores in organization of pictures and materials in their expressive art work. There were no differences between groups in sequence and contents of expression.

  • Researchers in marketing, sociology, and economics have been interested in the role of social interactions in consumer choice and consumption behaviors. Social interactions, labeled variously as peer effects, social contagion, and neighborhood effects, have important implications for firms' allocation of marketing efforts. In this research, we test and provide empirical evidence for peer effects in consumers' service usage in the context of gym-going behaviors. Using a detailed individual-level membership and attendance data at one of the largest health club chains in the U.S., we document that a focal member's gym-going behavior is influenced by the behaviors and characteristics of the peers at the same branch

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the reading effects of face-to-face reading discussion with those of web-based leading discussion. For doing this, 1 made experimental processes: firstly, to select two discussion methods(face-to-face and web-based) on the reading discussion, secondly to apply each of those methods to experimental groups(2 classrooms, 72 middle school students). The results were that there were no differences from both discussion methods in the understanding the book, in the performance degree on discussion process among higher level groups, but the web-based reading discussion model had an impact on the attitude degree of the reading discussion, the preference degree of reading, the attendance degree of reading discussion, and especially, in the lower level groups, the web-based reading discussion method was better for the attendance degree of leading discussion, the attitude of reading discussion than the face-to-face reading discussion.

  • Background: The aim of the study was to identify the relationship between 'Health Belief Model Scale for Cervical Cancer and the Pap Smear Test' subscale scores and demographic/gyneco-obstetric characteristics. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 256 women. Data were obtained using the 'Demographic and Gyneco-Obstetric Identification Form' and the 'Health Belief Model Scale for Cervical Cancer and the Pap Smear Test. Results: The percentage of women who had heard about the Pap test was 77.7 whereas only 32.4% had actually undergone the test. Some 45.7% of the women stated that they did not know the reason for having a Pap test. Women who had obtained a Pap smear test had statistically significantly fewer perceived barriers than those who had never had (p<0.05). Scores with regard to the subscales including 'Benefits of Pap Smear Tests and Health Motivation', 'Perceived Seriousness of Cervical Cancer', 'Susceptibility to Cervical Cancer' and 'Cervical Cancer Health Motivation' did not differ with demographic/gyneco-obstetric characteristics such as womens' educational level, whether or not young age at first marriage, whether or not having family history of female cancer, and whether or not having had a Pap test (p>0.05). Conclusions: Increasing knowledge about benefits of Pap smear tests, increasing motivation to obtain Pap Smear Test and increasing perceived seriousness of cervical cancer could promote attendance at cervical cancer screening. Different strategies are needed for behavioural change. Implementation of educational programmes by nurses in a busy environment could result in a major clinical change, based on the findings of this study.
