  • As the radiological medical instruments have been competitively developed in recent years, its utilization for the patient treatment has been expanded. The medical examination using the radiation has been gradually increased, so that it is recognized as a significant factor of increasing the radiation exposure. In this study, the recognition about the radiation exposure was analyzed for 555 gynecologic patients in 8 secondary and tertiary medical centers in Gyeongbuk from November 17 to April 19, 2007. The results are followed. There was a significant difference on the recognition for the radiation by age and education (p<0.05), There was the significant difference in the recognition about the radiological instruments by age and occupation (p<0.05), and there was the significant difference in the information identification & analysis by age and occupation (p<0.05). As the result of analyzing a correlation of the radiation's harmfulness, recognition, psychological state and exposure prevention, there was the correlation of 0.572 between the harmfulness and recognition, the correlation of 0.740 between the harmfulness and the psychological state, and the correlation of 0.477 between the harmfulness and the exposure prevention. It was statistically very significant (p<0.01). But, there was no significance with the radiological instrument and information identification (p>0.05). As the result of the study, it could be known that the mental threat factor was more included than the physical threat from the position of gynecologic patients who were sensitive to the radiation. Accordingly, radiological technologist who manages the radiation needs to let the patient or its guardians recognize the degree of physical harmfulness exactly.

  • International marriage migrants from developing to developed countries are to seek a better economic condition. There are only a few empirical research on comparing and analyzing economic condition of marriage migrants before and after marriage. This study attempted to analyze the relationship between the cognition on the change of economic condition before and after marriage and the socio-economic characteristics of Vietnamese international marriage female migrants. About 80% of interviewees of this study were motivated to marry Korean men for economic reasons; however, their household economic level was relatively low. Reflecting the household economic level, about half the Vietnamese women considered that there was very little difference in the economic condition before and after marriage; while, the percent of women considering the current economic condition as getting better were more than 4 times of that of women considering as becoming worse. The cognition on the economic condition change before and after marriage was positively correlated with the level of education attainment of husbands and themselves, the Korean language ability, state of occupation in Korea, the level of husband's income, involvement of management of living expenses and length of residence in Korea. The occupation in Vietnam and the state of remittance were not significantly related to the cognition on the economic condition change before and after marriage. Vietnamese marriage female migrants were highly motivated to have a job out of home to improve the economic condition of their own family and natal family. Concreted alternative programs should be made to help those women to work out of home.

  • We surveyed 223 road workers between 2017 July-August about wearing and satisfaction in order to find basic data to develop safety clothing that enhances visibility of motion and comfort while meeting international standards. It was found that most of the current warning clothing owned by road cleaners and about 2/3 of policemen clothes were provided by public institutions. The purpose of wearing, color, properties, satisfaction and protectiveness differed significantly by occupation. Second, the most popular response for the type and quantity of warning clothing was 2 sets of spring/autumn, summer, and winter type for road cleaners, whereas policemen chose 2 sets of all types plus a safety vest. Therefore, a top-level (3rd class) warning clothing study is required. Third, satisfaction ranked Moderate>Good>Poor; in addition, the main reason for satisfaction was that 'retroreflective tape increases safety at night (54.4%)' for road cleaners and 'the fluorescent color stands out (43.7%)' for policemen. Thus, it was accepted that visibility contributed to safety. Fourth, body-protectiveness was evaluated higher compared to wearing satisfaction, and it was recognized more by road cleaners than policemen. Overall satisfaction was higher for road cleaners versus policemen both in Seoul than Incheon. Fifth, the main dissatisfaction in both groups was 'low sweat absorbency' showing improving the air permeability, moisture regain and permeability was the highest priority. Finally, those working 8 hours a day tended to evaluate more positively the 6 properties of the material.

  • Purpose of this study is to investigate influence on preference of cohousing (eg. intention to spread and intention to move in cohousing) according to sense of community, especially in housing life by married people residing in Seoul and its outskirts. Research method used for this study was a social survey. Respondents were 214 people by accidential sampling. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 program using frequency, mean, average, T-test, one-way Anova, Duncan's Multiple Range test and Chi-square test. Findings of this study were as follows. Most respondents took part in interactive activities with colleagues from the same occupation. They Focused on the issues about health, leisure and hobby. The respondents mainly wanted to have interaction for changing recycling materials and education programs for children and juveniles. Degree of ideal relationships with neighbors, they think, were greeting and chatting as well as communication about issues on child-care, education for children, offense-prevention and safety. Although respondents were interested in community life and in interaction with their neighbors, they did not build up communal society due to lack of a sense of belonging in their living areas. While respondents showed positive response about preference of cohousing, there were difference between intention to spread of cohousing and intention to move in cohousing. As a result of this study, the stronger sense of community in housing life meant the more interests in thoughts to spread and to move in cohousing. Therefore, in order to increase sense of community in cohousing, the plan of various communication programs that enables frequent interaction among neighbors is needed. Also, in order to spread cohousing in Korea, promotion of cohousing community and cognitions about it are the most needed.

  • There are two forms of medicine that have existed over time and are important in the delivery of expert health care. The forms of medicine are traditional and modern medicine. This study was aimed at assessing the awareness and perspective on the use and integration of traditional and modern medicine in a rural area of Sokoto State, Nigeria. Two hundred and seventy-one (271) respondents were recruited and a self-administered questionnaire on the awareness and perspective on use and integration of traditional and modern medicine was used to assess the participant's view. Among the participants, 200(73.8%) were females. The mean±SD age of respondents was 30.55±9.73 years. 80.8% of the respondents were aware of traditional medicine while 100% were aware of modern medicine. All respondents prefer modern medicine but about 28.8% support integration of both healthcare services. The results were considered significant when p-value was less than 0.005. There is a statistically significant relationship between the integration of traditional and modern forms of medicine and age, gender, religion, education, ethnicity and occupation but not for marital status. Though all the respondents preferred modern medicine to traditional medicine, some people still feel it will be good to combine both for a better healthcare system.

  • This study highlights the importance of remittance, the factors which affect the percentage of income remitted, and the investment options available to reduce remittance. For the year 2019, the remittances from Oman totaled $9.1 billion. Oman was among the top remitters with remittance to gross domestic product (GDP) ratio of 11.9%. A survey was conducted on 300 resident expats in Oman. The descriptive analysis shows that the maximum remittance percentage is between 21%-40% of income. The multinomial logistic regression results show that outward remittance depends on gender, age, occupation, number of dependent in Oman, and the number of dependent in the home country. Regarding investment, the most preferred investment option is business, followed by real estate and financial services. Age and education are found to affect investment options. This paper tries to fill the literature gap, especially for the case of Oman, by exploring what determines the level of remittance and the preferred choices for retaining funds. This study adds to the existing literature, as no previous study is available regarding how personal factors can influence the level of remittance and investment in a small oil-exporting developing country like Oman. The study will be helpful to policymakers and academicians in devising policies to retain and invest the outwards remittances in Oman.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the knowledge and attitude about organ donation and organ transplantation among the organ donation candidates. Methods: The subjects were 91 candidates who are enrolled in organ transplantation center in general hospitals for organ donation or transplantation. The knowledge and attitude instruments about organ donation and transplantation by Matten, et al. (1991) were utilized. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN 14.0: descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The mean score of knowledge was relatively low ($9.61{\pm}3.47$, out of 21.0). The mean score of attitude was relatively high ($4.24{\pm}0.97$, of max score 5). There was significant difference (p<.05) in knowledge according to academic career, registered period as a candidate, the intention to participate in an organ donation education. There was significant difference (p<.05) in attitude according to occupation, family's consent, and recommendation to family. The relationship between knowledge and attitude was not stylistically significant (r=.043, p=.683). Conclusion: These findings suggest that nurses should develop educational programs to increase knowledge and positive attitude toward the organ donation and transplantation.

• Many workers today encounter the problem of overemployment which occurs when actual working hours exceed preferred or desired working hours. Overemployed workers desire to work fewer hours although this may entail a concomitant decline in earnings. This research is conducted to examine the likelihood of overemployment among employees in a particular state in Malaysia, that is, Penang. This study uses primary data that was collected in a survey encompassing a total of 525 employees in the state. A logit model is used to analyse the relationship between the likelihood of overemployment and various socio-demographic, household and work-related variables. The factors that are significantly related to overemployment are ethnicity, age, education, number of children in the household, occupation, hours of work and control over work schedule. Based on the findings of this paper, it is suggested that policies such as offering part-time jobs or job-sharing options to older workers, implementing family-friendly policies, adopting decent working time measures and strategies that give workers more control over their work schedule are some possible ways to deal with the issue of overemployment.

  • In this paper We measured average earnings differentials between the government and the private sector, the degree of earnings inequality within each sector, and estimated net earnings differentials between the public and private sector in 1982, 1985, 1990, 1995 and 1998, respectively. According to our estimation results, the public servants in Korea are being more paid than the private sector on the average, and have been enjoying higher net wage premium after controlling variables such as education level, job experience and occupation, etc. In terms of earning inequality within each sector, the public sector was proven to have very narrow earnings differentials between the top and the bottom, compared to quite large differentials in the private sector. Wide recognition that the public servants' compensation is lower in Korea seems quite wrong. The problem to be resolved is the earnings standardization in the public sector and the strong trend toward more equality in recent years. We recommend that the wage gap between the higher rank and the lower rank should be extended, and employment flexibility within the lower positions or ranks of the bureaucracy should be enhanced.
