This work deals with finding a suitable position correction algorithm of industrial robot based on measuring gaps between door and chassis. The algorithm calculates correction quantities and then must allow visually acceptable door-chassis assembly take. The algorithm simulation is performed for a simple door-chassis model, and its effectiveness is addressed in terms of the predefined total unformity, line uniformity. In addition, the error sensitivity analysis of the rotation center of door due to the mismatch of robot grasping is performed using the algorithm.
Active part mating algorithm using 6-axis force sensor data for the assembly automation and/or teletobotics is presented and experimented. Parts to be mated are cylindrical and have no chamfers. There are basically two modes. One is the normal mode with only a positional error, the other is the tilted mode with an orientational error in addition to a positional error. The used algorithm distinguishes a contact external to the hole from that of internal to the hole in order to perform part-mating in spite of the relative tilt between the hole and the peg.
Pattern classification is an essential step in automatic robotic assembly which joins together finite number of seperated industrial parts. In this paper, a fast and systematic algorithm for classifying occlusion-free objects is proposed, using the notion of incremental circle transform which describes the boundary contour of an object as a parametric vector function of incremental elements. With similarity transform and line integral, normalized determinant curve of an object classifies each object, independent of position, orientation, scaling of an object and cyclic shift of the stating point for the boundary description.
This paper deals with the problem of mixed-model sequencing on an assembly line. In this sequencing problem we want to minimize the risk of the conveyor stoppage and the total utility work. This paper applies genetic algorithm to solve the mixed-model sequencing problem which is formulated as an integer programming. The solution we get from this algorithm is compared with the solution of Tsai(1995)'s.
In general, auto parts production assembly line is assembled and produced by automatic mounting by an automated robot. In such a production site, quality problems such as misalignment of parts (doors, trunks, roofs, etc.) to be assembled with the vehicle body or collision between assembly robots and components are often caused. In order to solve such a problem, the quality of parts is manually inspected by using mechanical jig devices outside the automated production line. Automotive inspection technology is the most commonly used field of vision, which includes surface inspection such as mounting hole spacing and defect detection, body panel dents and bends. It is used for guiding, providing location information to the robot controller to adjust the robot's path to improve process productivity and manufacturing flexibility. The most difficult weighing and measuring technology is to calibrate the surface analysis and position and characteristics between parts by storing images of the part to be measured that enters the camera's field of view mounted on the side or top of the part. The problem of the machine vision device applied to the automobile production line is that the lighting conditions inside the factory are severely changed due to various weather changes such as morning-evening, rainy days and sunny days through the exterior window of the assembly production plant. In addition, since the material of the vehicle body parts is a steel sheet, the reflection of light is very severe, which causes a problem in that the quality of the captured image is greatly changed even with a small light change. In this study, the distance between the car body and the door part and the door are acquired by the measuring device combining the laser slit light source and the LED pattern light source. The result is transferred to the joint robot for assembling parts at the optimum position between parts, and the assembly is done at the optimal position by changing the angle and step.

The aircraft engine is usually supported by rolling element bearings and has a small damping rate, which is vol y sensitive to external force. The high-performance requirement of the rotors leads to complex assembly designs and are more flexible. Squeeze film dampers (SFDs) are introduced to provide damping while crossing the critical speeds and stability to the rotor s :stem. Hence, the focus of the present investigation is on the decision of an optimal size of the flexible rotor system supported by the squeeze film dampers to minimize the maximum transmitted load and unbalance response over a range operating speeds. The enhanced genetic algorithm (EGA), which was developed by authors, is used in the optimization process. This algorithm is based on the synthesis of a modified genetic algorithm and simplex method. The results show significant benefits in using EGA when compared with nonlinear programming (NLP).
This paper presents a framework for controlling mobile multiple robots connected by communication networks. This framework provides novel methods to control coordinated systems using mobile agents. The combination of the mobile agent and mobile multiple robots opens a new horizon of efficient use of mobile robot resources. Instead of physical movement of multiple robots, mobile software agents can migrate from one robot to another so that they can minimize energy consumption in aggregation. The imaginary application is making "carts," such as found in large airports, intelligent. Travelers pick up carts at designated points but leave them arbitrary places. It is a considerable task to re-collect them. It is, therefore, desirable that intelligent carts (intelligent robots) draw themselves together automatically. Simple implementation may be making each cart has a designated assembly point, and when they are free, automatically return to those points. It is easy to implement, but some carts have to travel very long way back to their own assembly point, even though it is located close to some other assembly points. It consumes too much unnecessary energy so that the carts have to have expensive batteries. In order to ameliorate the situation, we employ mobile software agents to locate robots scattered in a field, e.g. an airport, and make them autonomously determine their moving behaviors by using a clustering algorithm based on the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO). ACO is the swarm intelligence-based methods, and a multi-agent system that exploit artificial stigmergy for the solution of combinatorial optimization problems. Preliminary experiments have provided a favorable result. In this paper, we focus on the implementation of the controlling mechanism of the multi-robots using the mobile agents.
