Hepatic mass was aspirated under the guidance with ultrasound in 9-year old female maltese with signs of anorexia, hematochezia, vomiting, depression, and abdominal distension. Radiographic and abdominal ultrasonographic examinations were performed, which revealed enlarged tubular shaped uterine mass and solitary, small round hyperechoic hepatic mass dorsal to gall bladder as an incidental finding. Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration was completed, but histologic confirmation should be made for definitive diagnosis by tissue core or wedge biopsy.

We report a case of delayed diagnosed pneumonia due to an aspirated metallic crown, which had been detached from a molar tooth. Dental prosthesis should be checked and a careful review of the chest radiograph is mandatory when an elderly patient with delirium after hip fracture surgery develops pneumonia postoperatively.

Fracture of tracheostomy tube with subsequent migration into the tracheobronchial tree is rare, but tracheobronchial foreign body in child carries the potentially fatal risk of respiratory obstruction, We report a case of a 5-year-old girl who had aspirated a fractured tracheostomy tube which was removed under rigid bronchoscope.

This is a study on perception errors of Korean stops in word initial position. This study will show how listeners perceive manipulated Korean stops through two experiments and I will analyze why they are confused. In addition, 1 will show those perception errors not only reflect the relationship between the place and manner of articulation but also ate deeply related to the length of aspiration.

This paper proposed the phonemic segmentation method that employed two types of Likelihood Ratio that measures the change of spectral structure. By this method, isolated digits and words of VCV form are segmented into phoneme-unit and especially, first-burst part in an aspirated bilabial plosive is divided.

One six-year-old male Cocker spaniel with chief complaints of mandibular swelling and anorexia was referred. This dog was diagnosed into lymphosarcoma by the results of the examination with peripheral blood and fluid of the lymph nodes and bone marrow aspirated. This patient was multicentric form clinically and was cytomorphologically identified into lymphoblastic form of lymphosarcoma.

Recent studies have shown that the stop system of Korean is undergoing a sound change in terms of the two acoustic parameters, voice onset time (VOT) and fundamental frequency (f0). Because of a VOT merger of a consonantal opposition and onset-f0 interaction, the relative importance of the two parameters has been changing in Korean where f0 is a primary cue and VOT is a secondary cue in distinguishing lax from aspirated stops in speech production as well as perception. In English, however, VOT is a primary cue and f0 is a secondary cue in contrasting voiced and voiceless stops. This study examines how Korean English learners use the two acoustic parameters of L1 in producing L2 English stops and whether the sound change of acoustic parameters in L1 affects L2 speech production. The data were collected from six adult Korean English learners. Results show that Korean English learners use not only VOT but also f0 to contrast L2 voiced and voiceless stops. However, unlike VOT variations among speakers, the magnitude effect of onset consonants on f0 in L2 English was steady and robust, indicating that f0 also plays an important role in contrasting the [voice] contrast in L2 English. The results suggest that the important role of f0 in contrasting lax and aspirated stops in L1 Korean is transferred to the contrast of voiced and voiceless stops in L2 English. The results imply that, for Korean English learners, f0 rather than VOT will play an important perceptual cue in contrasting voiced and voiceless stops in L2 English.

Purpose: Steatocystoma multiplex is a rare benign disease that occurred multiply on whole body surface. Many physicians have tried managing steatocystoma in variable methods. However it is hard to define the optimal way to cure steatocystoma. We performed both aspiration and excisional method to study the usefulness of both methods. Methods: A 28-year-old woman has asymptomatic multiple subcutaneous nodules on whole body. Most lesions were aspirated with 26-guage needled 3 cc syringe but large and purulent three nodules were excised. Results: We diagnosed the lesion histologically as steatocystoma multiplex. Aspirated wound healed without scar, excised wound remained scar but esthetically acceptable. Axillary lesion contained so clustered type cysts that was difficult to aspirate whole cyst. Thus additional excisional method was needed. Conclusion: There are many practical methods to cure steatocystoma. However, there is no appropriate method to cure it. Therefore we should select different therapeutic method according to anatomical location and cyst size. Especially at subcutaneous fat-rich lesion like axilla and abdomen, it is better to excise the clustered cyst than to aspirate.

Estrus cycle of cow, season and follicldar stimulating treatment, having an effect on the number of follicle, are investigated for the oocyte recovery rate in ovum pick-up(OPU). The number of follicle aspirated and oocyte collected on the different days of estrus cycle(D 4~5, D 9~10 and D 14~15) were not significantly different among the groups. The higher number of viable oocytes were produced on Jan-May(79.0%) than Jun-Aug(33.3%) by OPU in cow. The number of follicle and aspirated oocyte in cows treated FSH or PMSG combined with bovine somatotropin(bST) were 1.2~1.5 times higher than in cows treated alone follicular stimulating hormone(FSH) or pregnant mare serum gonadotropin(PMSG). In conclusion, OPU can be repeatedly practiced 2 or 3 times in an estrus cycle. In addition, the high environmental temperature is not good for ovarian function of cow and the bST co-treatment with FSH or PMSG is increasing the number of aspiratable follicle.
