The asphalt pavement industry has introduced the warm-mix asphalt (WMA) as a mean of energy saving and environmentally safe technology, because the WMA mixture can be mixed and compacted at 30℃ lower than conventional hot-mix asphalt (HMA) at 160℃ or higher. The implementation of WMA can be a good option for paving operations for rural road in remote place, not only due to energy saving and environmental issues, but also lower working temperature. Using WMA technology, the cooled-down asphalt mixture can be still compacted to meet the quality requirement in narrow winding rural road in remote places. Therefore, this study is designed to evaluate engineering properties of WMA binders and concretes, which were prepared for rural road pavement. The objective of the study was to evaluate and suggest proper fundamental properties level of the WMA concrete for rural road pavement. The kinematic viscosity test result indicated that the WMA binders used in this study were effective for compaction at lower temperature, i.e., at 115℃, compared to the HMA binder. According to strength property analyses, it was found that the WMA concrete was acceptable for rural road pavement even though it was compacted at 30℃ lower level. Since the deformation strength (SD) of 3.2 MPa was found to satisfy rutting and cracking resistance minimum guidelines, this value was suggested as a minimum SD value for rural road pavement, considering lack of maintenance program for rural area.
This paper presents features of impermeable asphalt pavement material that uses thermoplastic GMA-based polymer(SIS, Stylene Isoprene Stylene) to improve the waterproof performance. Furthermore, as part of this study, the aerodynamic characteristics of the asphalt paving materials, using the newly suggested thermoplastic polymer, are identified through experiments. In the experiment, the aerodynamic characteristics were analyzed by testing on stability, flow values, porosity, dynamic stability, tensile strength ratio and skid resistance in accordance with KS standard and ASTM standard.
Safety, resilience and comfort of pedestrian were assessed by the British Pendulum Test and SB/GB factor test at 8 kinds of sidewalk pavement. Sidewalk paving materials were normal concrete, porous concrete, concrete block, soil concrete, asphalt, rubber chip/resin mixture, wood chip/resin mixture and floor tile. In addition, a survey was conducted to investigate the perception of pedestrians on the sidewalk paving material. As a result, while the skid resistance value was measured in the most 60BPN above, the floor tile showed a low value of about 30BPN. The ratios of SB factor to GB factor of the elastic pavements(rubber/resin mixture and wood chip/resin mixture) appeared to be relatively large when compared with those of the conventional sidewalks. The survey showed that respondents perceived as more safe and comfortable elastic pavements compared to conventional pavements. Approximately 50% of respondents answered that hardened soil pavement was the most environmentally friendly.
This example was able to focus on the long usage of the pavement that it was merely through the oxidation of the asphalt pavement which it could contact with on the road in the industrial housing complex and correlation regulation of the asphalt subsidence with the load in basic Infra of the configuration. The problem in conjunction with the subsidence (transformation) was interpreted as a problem of the subsidence of each pavement layer to lead the subsidence of the road or the transformation to packaging side asphalt pavement, but the traffic number of times of the heavy vehicle highlights for main problems with the road where is concentrated. In the case of general asphalt paving, it thinks it exposes light, and to study a general phenomenon for the asphalt transformation and a cause for a pavement construction method and the property of material used for pavement and a complement method by the case study at this time of the compound with the heavy vehicle traffic that it can become clear that small success transformation occurs at a point in time when 1-2 years more pass, and a fatigue rift occurs by ultraviolet rays, the oxidation with the contact with the air afterwards, and described beginning to use by the above.

Spray paving minimizes material lost during the construction or repair of a road surface, and it can be done in conjunction with tack coating. This approach involves applying the asphalt mixture at the same time as spraying the tack coat by attaching a spraying device to the asphalt paver. When applying an asphalt overlay to an aged concrete surface, it is important to ensure the adhesion performance between different material properties. Accordingly, there is a need for a tack coat that can be applied by spray paving and that exhibits good adhesive performance on different materials. In this study, bonding strength tests under various conditions were performed to evaluate the basic performance of a tack coat developed for use with a spray paver. The bonding performance of the tack coat was observed to be affected by curing conditions and material lost during construction. The test results also showed that the tensile and shear bonding strengths of the developed tack coat were 1.21 and 1.99 times higher than those of a conventional one, respectively. As a result, the developed tack coat is considered suitable for application to spray paving.

Currently, the Korean Smart Construction Corporation aims to stimulate overseas expansion of smart construction technology centered on Expressway development. In addition, the integrated classification system of construction information with Work Breakdown Structure(WBS) is currently being established in Korea, but its application to the construction industry is limited. In this study, data generation using simulation is carried out at the lowest level of WBS presented by the Korea Expressway Corporation, and detailed process productivity is predicted by site conditions.

Generally, asphalt binder modifier increases the viscosity at high temperature as well as at mixing and paving temperature, so that higher temperature is required to produce the hot-mix asphalt. Otherwise, wax is able to improve workability by means of decreasing the viscosity of asphalt binder. In this study, the effect of PE wax used to modify the asphalt binder was evaluated in laboratory. The properties of PE wax modified binder were compared with those of SBS and Crumb Rubber Modified binders. The results showed that wax type I has an effect on strengthening rut resistance as well as improving workability. However, wax type I weaken crack resistance due to making binder harder at intermediate temperature. The results also showed that wax type II has an effect on improving workability and on strengthening crack resistance due to making binder softer.

In this study, in order to improve the mechanical properties and durability of asphalt mixtures, a modifier (CSM, Cationized Silicate Modifier) was applied to asphalt to derive optimal mixing ratio conditions. Design of asphalt mixture using modified asphalt binder was conducted, and moisture resistance and dynamic stability were evaluated for optimal mixing conditions. The evaluation results showed that it exceeded the standards stipulated in the relevant guidelines, and as a result of conducting a water permeability test on the optimal mixing condition, it was confirmed that impermeable performance was secured. As a result of examining the noise reduction performance through field test, a noise reduction performance of about 10 dB was secured compared to before paving. It will be necessary to secure reliability through continuous noise generation evaluation in the future.
Cold in-place recycling (CIR) using emulsified asphalt or foamed asphalt has become a more common practice in rehabilitating the existing asphalt pavement due to its cost effectiveness and the conservation of paving materials. As CIR continues to evolve, the engineered emulsified asphalt was developed to improve the field performances such as coating, raveling, retained stability value and curing time. The main objective of this research is to compare the laboratory responses of the engineered emulsified asphalt (CIR-EE) mixtures against the foamed asphalt (CIR-foam) mixtures using the reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP)materials collected from the CIR project on U.S. 20 Highway in Iowa. Based on the visual observation of laboratory specimens, the engineered emulsified asphalt coated the RAP materials better than the foamed asphalt because the foamed asphalt is to create a mastic mixture structure rather than coating RAP materials. Given the same compaction effort, CIR-EE specimens exhibited lesser density than CIR-foam specimens. Both Marshall stability and indirect tensile strength of CIR-EE specimens were about same as those of CIR-foam specimens. However, Marshall stability and indirect tensile strength of the vacuum-saturated wet specimens of CIR-EE mixtures were higher than those of CIR-foam mixtures. After four hours of curing in the room temperature, the CIR-EE specimens showed less raveling than the CIR-foam specimens. On the basis of test results, it can be concluded that the CIR-EE mixtures is less susceptible to moisture and more raveling resistant than CIR-foam mixtures.
