  • This study is a fundamental research for recycling waste vinyl in asphalt concrete mixture for roadway pavement. The mixing method and proper content of waste polyethylene(PE) film were determined through preliminary mix design. This study used 2-type aggregate gradations and two-type waste PE films. The mixtures were applied for a test pavement on a rural road. Quality evaluation of the asphalt concrete confirmed that waste vinyl asphalt concrete was applicable to road pavement.

  • This is a double Composite Waterproofing Method of Mastic Asphalt Film ad Sheet(MAS) on concrete structure and its working method. MAS is characterized as having excellent strength and adhesion to concrete. To make a good waterproofing system, it is needed the information on the performance tests. The designer should choose a material that can be applied in almost all conditions. During their service life, Underground spaces have been keeping to dry enough for habitable or utilitarian used. This method is of use for waterproofness in various spaces.

  • This study investigated the use of recycled aggregate from waste asphalt concrete in dry soil concrete mixed with red mud. The results showed that dry soil concrete utilizing waste asphalt recycled aggregate had relatively lower compressive strength compared to that using crushed aggregate. However, dry soil concrete mixed with red mud using waste asphalt recycled aggregate achieved a compressive strength of over 18.0MPa, meeting the highest performance standard for parking lot use, when the cement content was more than 250kg/m3.

  • This study is a fundamental research for recycling waste vinyl in asphalt concrete mixture for roadway pavement. The mixing method and proper content of waste polyethylene(PE) film were determined through preliminary mix design. This study was performed mix designs using 2 type graduations of aggregate and used two types waste PE film. The asphalt concrete mixture was satisfied with the specification of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation. Its showed that dense grade asphalt concrete mixture containing waste vinyl were higher performance in comparision to other mixtures(common dense grade mixture and gap grade mixtures). From results of this study, it was confirmed that addition of waste vinyl improved on quality of asphalt concrete mixture.

  • This is the Study on Application and Manufacture Technique of Cold-Mix, Cold-Laid type Asphalt Concrete using of Polymer modified asphalt the could be constructed easily and economically on damaged road repaireless for seasons. The modified materials for this study are SBS(Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene). SBR (Styrene-Butadiene-Rubber) and PUR(Polyurethane). The Marshall stability and the value of flow and resistance in water stability degree according to the alternation types and weight percent of modified materials were compared and evaluated on this study. The results of the study show that PUR modified asphalt have improvement of over 150% Marshall stability in AI MS-14 standard and they are evaluated to have the easiness of storage and better working efficiency compared with other types of modified asphalt compound.

  • Moleclar size distribution of three AC-20 asphalt cements were observed using high pressure - gel permeation chromatograph (HP-GPC). Bituminous concrete specimens were made using the asphalt cements and one aggre¬gate in laboratory to measure mechanical properties, tensile strength CIS) and resilient modulusCM,J. in dry and wet conditons. Results of mechanical property tests and profile of molecular size distribution of asphalt cements were analyzed to evaluate the relatonship of mechanical property with chromatogram. Regression analy¬sis showed a strong correlation between a mechanical property and sliced percent areas of chromatogram. Mathematical prediction models were developed based on the regression analysis. It was shown that characteris¬tics of asphalt cement chromatogram could be successfully used for estimation of selected mechanical property of asphalt concrete .

  • The study was conducted to evaluate the fundamental properties of waste tire asphalt concretes using polymer modified hinder that were made by dry process. The specimens of four types of polymer modified asphalt concretes were prepared, then Marshall test and indirect tensile strength tests were performed on these samples. The results showed that polymer modified waste tire rubber asphalt concrete was acceptable for the material of asphalt pavement surface layer.

  • This study is a fundamental research for recycling waste polyethylene film(WPF) in asphalt concrete for roadway pavement. The objective of this study is to develop technology of making waste polyethylene asphalt mixture and evaluate properties of the asphalt concrete containing WPF. Asphalt concrete for surface course of pavement was produced through an appropriate mix-design using dense-graded and gap-graded aggregates. Marshall mix design, indirect tensile strength test, wheel tracking test and tensile fatigue test were performed. Test result showed that some WPF asphalt mixtures had a high tensile property and good resistances against rutting and fatigue cracking, compared with normal asphalt mixture.

  • Recycling of asphalt including shingle is much important for economic aspects such as a decrease of treatment cost. This research was carried out in order to process the recycled shingle to asphalt concrete which is a pavement material. Pure asphalt and the mixture of recycled asphalt were tested in terms of the thermal characteristics, viscosity, and penetration. DSC analysis indicates that the thermal characteristics of separate shingle showed similar properties regardless of processing conditions. Melting of asphalt separated from shingle occurred at $170^{\circ}C$. The viscosity and penetration of the 1~5 wt% of mixed recycling asphalt and raw material asphalt are suitable for the pavement material standard.

  • This paper presents the experimental test results on moisture and freeze-thaw resistance of hot mix crumb rubber modified (CRM) asphalt concrete mixture. To compare the differences in mechanical properties of conventional and CRM asphalt concretes, various tests were conducted under different moisture conditions and freeze-thaw cycles. Marshall mix design was also performed to determine the optimum asphalt contents for the both asphalt concrete mixtures. Test results revealed that the moisture and freeze-thaw resistance of CRM asphalt mixture was superior to the conventional asphalt concrete. As a result, it is considered that the utilization of waste tires in asphalt pavements has the potential of minimizing the damage due to the moisture and freeze-thaw.
