Analysis of XQuery FLWOR expression to SQL translation (XQuery FLWOR 연산의 SQL 변환 기법 분석)

  • As the usefulness of internet is kept changing more productively with web 1.0, web 2.0 usage of XML is also increasing very rapidly. In XML environment the most critical function is the ability of effective retrieval of useful information from XML repository. That makes the W3C XQuery more popular XQuery has very complicated structure as a query language due to the semi_structured nature of XML. FLOWOR, which stand for, let. where, order by, return, is the most commonly used expression in XQuery. In this paper we suggest the methods to handle XQuery FLWOR on relational environments. We also analyze and evaluate our approach to prove its correctness.

Cascaded Parsing Korean Sentences Using Grammatical Relations (문법관계 정보를 이용한 단계적 한국어 구문 분석)

  • This study aims to identify dependency structures in Korean sentences with the cascaded chunking. In the first stage of the cascade, we find chunks of NP and guess grammatical relations (GRs) using Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifiers for all possible modifier-head pairs of chunks in terms of GR categories as subject, object, complement, adverbial, etc. In the next stages, we filter out incorrect modifier-head relations in each cascade for its corresponding GR using the SVM classifiers and the characteristics of the Korean language such as distance between relations, no-crossing and case property. Through an experiment with a parsed and GR tagged corpus for training the proposed parser, we achieved an overall accuracy of 85.7%.

  • Recently Technology regarding VoIP (Voice over IP) is emerging over the market of the IP network. So far nothing is unfortunately there any attempt to try any research with respect to the development of the protocol stack relating to such control of gateway as MGCP, MEGACO, SIP, SDP. The reasons come from the low level of infrastructue, the shortage of the time and technology required at the moment, and so on. In this regards, this paper is focused on developing a protocol stack made with encoder/decoder, the generator of the header file etc, based on the protocol grammars of MGCP, SDP supported by IETF. For the sake of it, first develops the syntax analyzer, encoder/decoder, header file generator for encoding/decoding as applying the method of syntax-directed to each protocol grammar.

A Multi-task Self-attention Model Using Pre-trained Language Models on Universal Dependency Annotations

  • In this paper, we propose a multi-task model that can simultaneously predict general-purpose tasks such as part-of-speech tagging, lemmatization, and dependency parsing using the UD Korean Kaist v2.3 corpus. The proposed model thus applies the self-attention technique of the BERT model and the graph-based Biaffine attention technique by fine-tuning the multilingual BERT and the two Korean-specific BERTs such as KR-BERT and KoBERT. The performances of the proposed model are compared and analyzed using the multilingual version of BERT and the two Korean-specific BERT language models.

Translating English By-Phrase Passives into Korean: A Parallel Corpus Analysis (영한 병렬 코퍼스에 나타난 영어 수동문의 한국어 번역)

  • This paper is motivated by Watanabe's (2001) observation that English byphrase passives are sometimes translated into Japanese object topicalization constructions. That is, the original English sentence in the passive may be translated into the active voice with the logical object topicalized. A number of scholars, including Chomsky (1981) and Baker (1992), have remarked that languages have various ways to avoid focusing on the logical subject. The aim of the present study is to examine the translation equivalents of the English by-phrase passives in an English-Korean parallel corpus compiled by the author. A small sample of articles from Newsweek magazine and its published Korean translation reveals that there are indeed many ways to translate English by-phrase passives, including object topicalization (12.5%). Among the 64 translated sentences analyzed and classified, 12 (18.8%) examples were problematic in terms of agent defocusing, which is the primary function of passives. Of these 12 instances, five cases were identified where an alternative translation would be more suitable. The results suggest that the functional characteristics of English by-phrase passives should be highlighted in translator training as well as language teaching.

Analyzing dependency of Korean subordinate clauses using a composit kernel (복합 커널을 사용한 한국어 종속절의 의존관계 분석)

  • Analyzing of dependency relation among clauses is one of the most critical parts in parsing Korean sentences because it generates severe ambiguities. To get successful results of analyzing dependency relation, this task has been the target of various machine learning methods including SVM. Especially, kernel methods are usually used to analyze dependency relation and it is reported that they show high performance. This paper proposes an expression and a composit kernel for dependency analysis of Korean clauses. The proposed expression adopts a composite kernel to obtain the similarity among clauses. The composite kernel consists of a parse tree kernel and a liner kernel. A parse tree kernel is used for treating structure information and a liner kernel is applied for using lexical information. the proposed expression is defined as three types. One is a expression of layers in clause, another is relation expression between clause and the other is an expression of inner clause. The experiment is processed by two steps that first is a relation expression between clauses and the second is a expression of inner clauses. The experimental results show that the proposed expression achieves 83.31% of accuracy.

A Study on Calculation of Urban Compactness Index Considering Space Syntax: Focusing on the Declining Local Cities (공간구문론을 활용한 도시 압축지수 산정에 관한 연구: 소멸위험도시를 중심으로)

  • Recently, Korea has been experiencing a problem of population decline, therefore the transition to a compact spatial structure is being urged. However, what is required is not just physical compression, but a compact city that also considers connectivity, in view of the changes in today's demographic and industrial structure. From this point of view, this study measures the compressibility of domestic cities suffering from extinction risk due to low birth rates, aging population, and population decline, and examined the spatial structure characteristics. In addition to the compressibility evaluation index used in previous studies, the compressibility of six indicators (population, land use, service accessibility, transport accessibility, connectivity, and concentration) was compared and analyzed, and a comprehensive compression index was calculated. The analysis results, based on the comprehensive compression index, classified 2.3% cities in the first grade, 4.6% in the second grade, 16.09% in the third grade, 43.68% in the fourth grade, and 33.33% in the fifth grade areas. Currently, the urban characteristics affecting the compactness index differ from region to region. Therefore, it is necessary to establish measures and policies for extinction risk considering the influence of each region's compactness index. This study is meaningful in that connectivity was considered using spatial syntax, and the compactness of cities at risk of extinction was compared and analyzed quantitatively. It is expected that this study will be used as basic data to establish the direction and action strategy for extinction risk cities.

  • Machine translators first appeared in the 1950s and made a leap in translation accuracy by applying the neural translation system in the 2010s. However, it is still having difficulty in translating complex sentences, which made it inconvenient to use machine translators as an English learning tool. Therefore, this study analyzed the usability of a machine translator as an English learning tool through a backtranslation experiment of as phrases. As analysis tools, Google Translator, Naver Papago, and Microsoft Translator, were used since they are representative machine translators using a neural translation system. As a result of the study, findings are: The usability was significantly different according to each as usage when using a machine translator. Accordingly, as usages in sentences were classified into high, ordinary, and low usability. Unlike previous studies, this study has a research contribution in analyzing the machine translator as a direct learning tool and quantifying the usability of the conjunction as.

  • In consideration for evaluating urban lighting plan as culture of a society, preparing lighting plan while designing urban plan is a fundamental process. This study proposes a methodology, maintaining and embossing urban throughout preparing a long-term urban lighting plan considering overall urban space as well as improving competitive power for lighting to take an important role in total environmental design project.

Working memory and sensitivity to prosody in spoken language processing (언어 처리에서 운율 제약 활용과 작업 기억의 관계)

  • Individual differences in working memory predict qualitative differences in language processing. High span comprehenders are better able to integrate probabilistic information such as plausibility and animacy, the use of which requires the computation of real world knowledge in syntactic parsing (e.g.,[1]). However, it is unclear whether similar individual differences exist in the use of informative prosodic cues. This study examines whether working memory modulates the use of prosodic boundary information in attachment ambiguity resolution. Prosodic boundaries were manipulated in globally ambiguous relative clause sentences. The results show that high span listeners are more likely to be sensitive to the distinction between different types of prosodic boundaries than low span listeners. The findings suggest that like high-level constraints, the use of low-level prosodic information is resource demanding.
