In past decades beach erosion has been remarkably severe along coasts of different parts of the world, so that distinct types of coastal protective measures have been implemented; seawalls, wave-dissipating breakwaters, groins, artificial headlands or detached breakwaters have been constructed. In recent years, at Bongpeong beach, South Korea, an artificial headland was constructed to stop the beach erosion. The structure resulted in severe beach erosion of the adjoining places. In order to stop the consequences, another headland was constructed at some distance, but the construction of double headland did not prevent the erosion significantly. This paper focuses on the accurate design of the artificial double headland construction. The study presents the application of equilibrium shoreline empirical formula of parabolic type to estimate the equilibrium stages of the artificial double headland beaches and an analytic solution is presented in the present study. The research has solved the empirical formula of parabolic type to find the optimum result by considering the essential parameters that influence the erosion after the construction of double headland.
This study has been carried out to develop a standard method for quantifying of 3 permitted artificial sweeteners (including sodium saccharine, aspartame, acesulfame potassium) contained in foods by HPLC-DAD. A simple and rapid sample pretreatment method was used to remove fat and protein from the test solution with Carrez clearing regent precipitant know to be effective for protein and fat removal. The artificial sweeteners in the test solution purified through sample pretreatment were detected by high performance liquid chromatograph using a Reverse phase C18 column (5 ㎛, 4.6 × 250 mm). The simultaneous quantitative test of 3 kinds of artificial sweeteners can be effectively performed on the high fat emulsified foods containing a large amount of fat. Using the established simultaneous quantitative test method, artificial sweeteners were tested in foods such as dairy products, snacks and chocolate. The results calibration curve showed good linearity with high regression coefficients and the result of recovery test showed satisfactory recoveries within 80~110 %.
Silica microgel was prepared by sol-gel process and then functional groups, epoxy group and ethoxy group, were introduced on the particle by coupling treatment with 3-glysidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane. The functional silica microgel(functional SiGel) formation was identified using FT-IR spectrometry. Phase stability for DMF solution of functional SiGel, PU resin and pigment was evaluated by Turbiscan Lab. And physical properties of artificial suede including hand values, morphology and dyeing fastness were investigated. The mean particle size and the specific surface area of the functional SiGel were $0.77{\mu}m$ and $380m^2/g$. Mixture containing the functional SiGel, PU resin and pigment was more stable than the functional SiGel-free mixed solution. Artificial suede prepared by the functional SiGel had appearance and feeling close to natural suede. The migration fastness, the solvent wicking fastness and rubbing fastness of the artificial suede were enhanced to 4~5 grades, 4~5 grades and 3~4 grades, respectively.

In this study, a simple, efficient, user-based program called SCAR was developed for evaluating the sliding and collapse of artificial reefs due to hydrodynamic forces in ocean environments. SCAR was developed by applying Delphi code and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) based on the Morison formula for evaluating and analyzing the stability of artificial reefs. SCAR can be applied widely for design and stability evaluation of fishery structures (such as artificial reefs or other underwater structures) in undergraduate and graduate courses and by experts in the field.

Data clustering is one of the most difficult and challenging problems and can be formally considered as a particular kind of NP-hard grouping problems. The K-means algorithm is one of the most popular and widely used clustering method because it is easy to implement and very efficient. However, it has high possibility to trap in local optimum and high variation of solutions with different initials for the large data set. Therefore, we need study efficient computational intelligence method to find the global optimal solution in data clustering problem within limited computational time. The objective of this paper is to propose a combined artificial bee colony (CABC) with K-means for initialization and finalization to find optimal solution that is effective on data clustering optimization problem. The artificial bee colony (ABC) is an algorithm motivated by the intelligent behavior exhibited by honeybees when searching for food. The performance of ABC is better than or similar to other population-based algorithms with the added advantage of employing fewer control parameters. Our proposed CABC method is able to provide near optimal solution within reasonable time to balance the converged and diversified searches. In this paper, the experiment and analysis of clustering problems demonstrate that CABC is a competitive approach comparing to previous partitioning approaches in satisfactory results with respect to solution quality. We validate the performance of CABC using Iris, Wine, Glass, Vowel, and Cloud UCI machine learning repository datasets comparing to previous studies by experiment and analysis. Our proposed KABCK (K-means+ABC+K-means) is better than ABCK (ABC+K-means), KABC (K-means+ABC), ABC, and K-means in our simulations.
In order to investigate the effects of continuous and pH cyclic remineralization, artificial enamel carious lesions were produced on sections of about 2mm thickness of bovine incisor. 0.1M lactic acid solution adjusted to a pH of 4.3 and saturity of $2.98{\times}10^{-8}$ was used as demineralizing solution. The lesions were remineralized with the solution of pH 7.0 containing 1.5mM $CaCl_2$, 0.9 mM $KH_2PO_4$ and 20mM Hepes. In continuous remineralization procedure, the specimens were immersed in remineralizing solution continuously for 72 hours. In pH cyclic remineralization procedure, the sections were immersed in remineralizing solution for 6 hours and in dermineralizing solution for 20 minutes alternately during 72 hours. The effect of remineralization was determined by polarizing microscopy and electron microprobe analysis. The obtained results were as follows. 1. In case of continuous remineralization, the lesion depth was reduced partially or unchanged. 2. In pH cyclic condition, the thichness of surface layer and the lesion depth were increased simultaneously. 3. The mineral content of lesion was recovered to the level of sound enamel by remineraiization.

This paper proposes an effective approach for the part-machine grouping(PMG) based on the non-binary part-machine incidence matrix in which real manufacturing factors such as the operation sequences with multiple visits to the same machine and production volumes of parts are incorporated and each entry represents actual moves due to different operation sequences. The proposed approach adopts Fuzzy ART neural network to quickly create the Initial part families and their machine cells. A new performance measure to evaluate and compare the goodness of non-binary block diagonal solution is suggested. To enhance the poor solution due to category proliferation inherent to most artificial neural networks, a supplementary procedure reassigning parts and machines is added. To show effectiveness of the proposed approach to large-size PMG problems, a psuedo-replicated clustering procedure is designed. Experimental results with intermediate to large-size data sets show effectiveness of the proposed approach.
In the present study, we aim to utilize the numerical solution frequency results of functionally graded beam under thermal and dynamic loadings to train and test an artificial neural network. In this regard, shear deformable functionally-graded beam structure is considered for obtaining the natural frequency in different conditions of boundary and material grading indices. In this regard, both analytical and numerical solutions based on Navier's approach and differential quadrature method are presented to obtain effects of different parameters on the natural frequency of the structure. Further, the numerical results are utilized to train an artificial neural network (ANN) using AdaGrad optimization algorithm. Finally, the results of the ANN and other solution procedure are presented and comprehensive parametric study is presented to observe effects of geometrical, material and boundary conditions of the free oscillation frequency of the functionally graded beam structure.
Additively manufactured titanium alloy is one of the promising materials in advanced medical industries. However, these additively manufactured alloys show corrosion properties different from those of conventional materials due to their unique microstructure. In this study, the effect of surface roughness and masking conditions on the results of the potentiodynamic polarization tests on additively manufactured or conventional Ti-6Al-4V alloys in artificial saliva solution with or without fluoride was investigated. The results showed that the corrosion potential was slightly lower with a flat cell with an O-ring than with masking tape. The corrosion rate was decreased with decreases in the surface roughness. Localized corrosion involving delamination of the surface layer occurred at 7 ~ 9 V (SSC) on the additively manufactured alloy in solution with or without fluoride when the samples were finished with 1000-grit SiC paper, whereas localized corrosion was not observed in the specimens finished with 1-㎛ alumina paste.
Objectives : The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the remineralization effect of Bamboo salt and NaF+Bamboo salt solutions on bovine enamel formed incipient artificial enamel caries by microcomputed tomography (micro CT). Methods : Experimental solutions were distilled water(negative control), 2% sodium fluoride solution (2% NaF group), 3% bamboo salt solution (3% BS group) and the solution mixed 2% sodium fluoride solution and 3% bamboo salt solution (2% NaF+3% BS group). Specimens were prepared from extracted bovine teeth and divided into 4 groups of 10 specimens each by randomized blocks according to density. Then the specimens surface were divided equally into three parts to observe sound enamel area, incipient enamel carious area and remineralized enamel area. Only one-third of specimen surface was coated with nail varnish and these were exposed to a lactate carbopol buffer system for 72 hours. Then one-half of the demineralized enamel area was coated with nail varnish. The specimens were carried out under pH cycling model for 14 days as follows; samples were immersed in each experimental solution for 2 mins 3 times per day, demineralized for 4 hours and in mixed saliva for the remaining hours. After pH cycling, density was measured using micro CT. Results : All experimental groups showed remineralization effects except for negative control group(p<0.05). The differences of density after experimental solution treatment were statistically significant difference among 4 groups (p<0.01). The density difference values of groups were $0.04{\pm}0.01$ in negative control group, $0.19{\pm}0.01$ in 2% NaF group, $0.14{\pm}0.01$ in 3% BS group, and $0.21{\pm}0.01$ in 2% NaF+3% BS group. Conclusions : The bamboo salt solution showed remineralization effects on incipient artificial enamel caries and the solution mixed sodium fluoride solution and bamboo salt solution showed more remineralization effects than the bamboo salt solution. Thus, it is suggested that bamboo salt can be used as remineralization agent in incipient enamel caries lesion.
