Magnetic Field Analysis for Development of Magnetic Torquer

  • There are many actuators and sensors used for attitude control system for KOMPSAT such as Reaction Wheel Assembly, Magnetic Torque Assembly, Dual Thruster Module, Solar array Drive, Three Axis Magnetometer, Conical Earth Sensor, Fine Sun Sensor Assembly, Coarse Sun Sensor Assembly, Gyro Reference Assembly and so on. For KOMPSA T satellite it has been considered using the Magnetic Torquer (MTQ) generating the magnetic dipole moment. In general, the magnetic dipole moment for satellite attitude control system is used for dumping out the excessive reaction wheel momentum so that the reaction wheel speed is not saturated. The objective of this study is to analyze the magnetic field characteristics generated by the Magnetic Torquer using the Maxwell 2D Field Simulator software. Currently, the developing model (DM) of the MTQ is being developed and manufactured at a company under the supervision of KARL MTQ is an electromagnet consisting of a ferromagnetic cylindrical core on which an excitation coil is wound. A current is passed through the coil to produce a dipole momentum in the ferromagnetic core. The configuration of the MTQ will be introduced in the presentation. The 2 dimensional model of the MTQ is drawn as axisymmetric models in RZ plane, and each corresponding material is assigned to the each MTQ object, the core, coil, and background. After the boundary conditions, current sources, and solution parameters are set up, the magnetic field intensities, directions, and other values specified by users can be calculated by using the finite element analysis. The theoretical magnetic field quantities obtained by the Maxwell 2D Simulator can be used for the basis of the development of the MTQ.

선형 홀 센서 배열을 사용한 결함 검사 알고리즘 개발 (Development of Crack Examination Algorithm Using the Linearly Integrated Hall Sensor Array)

  • Previous researches show that linearly integrated Hall sensor arrays (LIHaS) can detect cracks in the steel structure fast and effectively This paper proposes an algorithm that estimates the size and shape of cracks for the developed LIHaS. In most nondestructive testing (NDT), just crack existence and location are obtained by processing 1-dimensional data from the sensor that scans the object with relative speed in single direction. The proposed method is composed with two steps. The first step is constructing 2-dimensionally mapped data space by combining the converted position data from the time-based scan data with the position information of sensor arrays those are placed in the vertical direction to the scan direction. The second step is applying designed Laplacian filter and smoothing filter to estimate the size and shape of cracks. The experimental results of express train wheels show that the proposed algorithm is not only more reliable and accurate to detecting cracks but also effective to estimate the size and shape of cracks.

어레이 IrMn 스핀밸브 소자의 자기저항특성 연구 (Magnetoresistive Properties of Array IrMn Spin Valves Devices)

  • 어레이(away) 자성센서 개발을 위해 고진공 스퍼터링 증착장비를 이용하여 스펙큘러형(specular type) Glass/Ta(5)/NiFe(7)/IrMn(10)/NiFe(5)/$O_2$/CoFe(5)/Cu(2.6)/CoFe(5)/$O_2$/NiFe(7)/Ta(5)(nm) 거대자기저항-스핀밸브(giant magnetoresistive-spin valves; CMR-SV)박막을 제작하였다. 다층박막 시료를 $20{\times}80{\mu}m^2$의 미세 활성영역을 가진 15개 어레이를 $8{\times}8mm^2$ 영역 내에 최적화한 제작 조건으로 광 리소그래피 패터닝 하였다. Cu를 증착하여 만든 2단자 전극법으로 측정한 자성특성은 15개 모든 소자들이 균일한 자기저항특성을 나타내었고, 5 Oe 근방에서 가장 민감한 자기저항비 자장민감도와 출력전압들은 각각 0.5%/Oe, ${\triangle}$V: 3.9 mV이었다. 형상자기이방성이 적용된 상부 자유층 $CoFe/O_2/NiFe$층은 하부 고정 자성층 $IrMn/NiFe/O_2/CoFe$층 자화 용이축과 직교하였다. 측정시 인가전류 값을 각각 1 mA에서 10 mA까지 인가하였을 때 출력 작동 전압 값은 균일하게 증가하였으며, 자장감응도도 거의 일정하여 미세 외부자장에 민감한 나노자성소자로서 좋은 특성을 띠었다.

강자성 배관의 원격장 와전류 결함 신호 검출에 GMR Sensor의 적용성 연구 (GMR Sensor Applicability to Remote Field Eddy Current Defect Signal Detection in a Ferromagnetic Pipe)

  • 강자성 배관의 대표적인 비파괴검사 방법으로 접촉방식인 초음파탐상(UT)과 비접촉식 검사인 누설자속탐상(MFL), 전자기초음파탐상(EMAT), 원격장 와전류탐상(RFECT) 기법 등이 있다. 특히 원격장 와전류(RFECT) 기법은 배관의 직경보다 작은 시스템 구축 등의 장점이 있다. 이런 장점에도 불구하고 array system을 구성할 경우 coil sensor 각각의 민감도 차이와 유지 보수 등의 문제가 있다. 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위해 크기가 작고 교체성이 우수하며 같은 민감도를 갖는 GMR sensor(giant magneto-resistance)를 적용하였다. 본 연구는 강자성 배관에 GMR sensor의 축 및 반경 방향의 원격장 및 깊이 변화를 가진 표준결함 실험을 통해 원격장 및 결함신호 특성을 확인하였고 강자성 배관에 원격장 와전류를 이용한 GMR sensor의 적용 가능성을 확인하였다.

압연롤 검사를 위한 다중 센서 와전류 탐상 검사 시스템 개발 (Development of Multi-channel Eddy Current System for Inspection of Press Rolls)

  • Press rolls are constantly exposed to physical and heat stresses on their surface and are prone to crack, bruise, and spall if the accumulated stress goes beyond the critical point. Such surface phenomenon can cause them to lose their functionality and eventually lead to a halted production line. Eddy current testing can be considered a useful method to investigate the surface of the roll. The method involves the application of a high intensity magnetic field onto the surface of the roll, and thereby finding any early stage of possible defects. When the method was applied for roll inspection, the cross section of the sensor was regulated as per the overall testing speed. A smaller cross sectional area implied a better resolution but a longer testing time. In this paper, a convenient method to increase both overall system resolution and inspection speed of eddy current roll inspection is suggested by using a devised array sensor structure.

저장탱크 바닥면 검사를 위한 누설자속 탐상 시스템 개발 (Development of MFL Testing System for the Inspection of Storage Tank Floor)

  • 누설자속법은 신뢰성과 경제성을 충족시키면서 정성적인 결과를 제공하는 비파괴시험법이다. 특히 저장탱크바닥판의 검사에 효과적으로 적용될 수 있음을 보여주었다. 이전에 저장탱크 qkekrvis의 검사에 사용되었던 초음파탐상법은 검사속도가 느리고, 적용에 따른 어려움으로 국부검사에 한정되어 왔다. 본 연구팀은 이러한 초음파탐상의 단점을 극복하고자 누설자속탐상법을 개발하였다. 개발된 시스템의 주요부분은 누설자속 발생부, 어레이센서, crawler 및 운용프로그램으로 구성되어 있고, 최종적으로 개발된 시스템이 6mm강판에서 ${\psi}3.2mm,\;d\;1.2mm$와 같은 인공결함을 검출할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

  • 전자기적인 방법을 이용한 비파괴검사는 금속의 표면 및 표면 근방의 균열을 탐상하는데 매우 유용하다. 그러나, 강자성체, 상자성체 또는 강자성체와 상자성체 조직이 혼재되는 경우가 발생하여 기존의 비파괴검사법에 의하면 탐상신호의 해석에 어려움이 많다. 또한, 경우에 따라서는 국부적인 자성체의 존재를 유사결함으로 오해 또는 큰 결함을 국부적인 자성체의 존재로 오해할 수 있다. 한편, 원자력 발전소의 구조물 소재로 중요하게 사용되고 있는 Inconel은 결함 발생시 Nickel로 피막 처리한 후 연장 사용하게 된다. 이때, 상자성체인 Inconel과 강자성체인 Nickel의 혼재에 의하여 결함을 탐상하기 곤란하다. 본 연구에서는 Inconel 부재, Nickel 코팅부위 및 경계면에 존재하는 결함을 탐상하기 위한 방법으로써, 복합 유도전류-누설자속법과 고밀도 홀센서 배열을 이용한 라인스캔형 자기카메라를 제안하고, 탐상 가능 결함의 깊이 및 정량 평가 가능성에 대하여 보고한다.

SQUID Systems for Magnetocardiographic Applications

  • As very sensitive magnetic field sensors, superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) are used to measure magnetic field signals from the human heart. By analyzing these cardiomagnetic signals, functional diagnoses of heart can be done. In order to measure weak biomagnetic signals, we need a multichannel SQUID array with sensor coverage large enough to cover the whole heart to enable the measurement in a single position setting. In this paper, we review the recent development of SQUID systems for measuring cardiomagnetic fields, with special emphasis on SQUID types.

금속/비금속 복합센서기반 위험물 탐지기술 개발 (Development of Hazardous Objects Detection Technology based on Metal/Non-Metal Detector)

  • Conventional handheld metal detectors use a single induction coil to detect the metallic parts of explosive objects, and the detector generates an acoustic signal from its magnetic response to a metallic object so that an operator can confirm the existence of mines. Though metal detectors have very useful detection mechanisms to find mines, it is easy to cause a high false alarm ratio due to the detection of non-explosive metallic items such as cans, nails and other pieces of metal, etc. Also, because of the physical characteristic of a metal detector it is hard to detect non-metallic objects such as mines made of wood or plastic. Furthermore, the operator must move it to the left and right slowly and repeatedly to attain enough sensor signals to confirm the existence of mines using only a monotonous acoustic signal. To resolve the disadvantages of handheld detectors, many new approaches have been attempted, such as an arrayed detector and a visualization algorithm based on metal/non-metal sensor. In this paper, we introduce a visualization algorithm with a metal/non-metal complex sensor, an arrayed metal/non-metal sensor and the their testing and evaluation.

심자도용 접선성분자장 측정방식 스퀴드 센서열 설계 (Design of a SQUID Sensor Array Measuring the Tangential Field Components in Magnetocardiogram)

  • We consider design factors for a SQUID sensor array to construct a 52-channel magnetocardiogram (MCG) system that can be used to measure tangential components of the cardiac magnetic fields. Nowadays, full-size multichannel MCG systems, which cover the whole signal area of a heart, are developed to improve the clinical analysis with high accuracy and to provide patients with comfort in the course of measurement. To design the full-size MCG system, we have to make a compromise between cost and performance. The cost is involved with the number of sensors, the number of the electronics, the size of a cooling dewar, the consumption of refrigerants for maintenance, and etc. The performance is the capability of covering the whole heart volume at once and of localizing current sources with a small error. In this study, we design the cost-effective arrangement of sensors for MCG by considering an adequate sensor interval and the confidence region of a tolerable localization error, which covers the heart. In order to fit the detector array on the cylindrical dewar economically, we removed the detectors that were located at the corners of the array square. Through simulations using the confidence region method, we verified that our design of the detector array was good enough to obtain whole information from the heart at a time. A result of the simulation also suggested that tangential-component MCG measurement could localize deeper current dipoles than normal-component MCG measurement with the same confidence volume; therefore, we conclude that measurement of the tangential component is more suitable to an MCG system than measurement of the normal component.
