AN EFFICIENT SENEOR ARRAY FOR A LATFE-GAP MAGNETIC LEVITATION SYSTEM

  • A magnetic levitation control system is nonlinear and very unstable. Thus there should be a stabilizing compensation network and a feedback path. Due to the levitation control a noncontact photoresistor sensor is generally used. One photocell provides a certain amount of variation in length by the ball shadow casted on the cell surface. Furthermore at the boundary of the cell, the linearity of sensitivity deteriorates severely. To overcome the constraints of the length and linearity, an efficient sensor array is deviced and applied in the feedback path of a large-gap magnetic levitation control system. A number of CdS photocells and a summing circuit of the sensor output signals are used for a sensor array. The levitation length of a ball and the transient performances are main objectives of the large-gap suspension system using the sensor array.

A Sensing System of the Halbach Array Permanent Magnet Spherical Motor Based on 3-D Hall Sensor

  • This paper proposes a sensing system of the Halbach array permanent magnet spherical motor(PMSM). The rotor position can be obtained by solving three rotation angles, which revolves around 3 reference axes of the stator. With the development of 3-D hall sensor, the position identification problem of the Halbach array PMSM based on rotor magnetic field is studied in this paper. A nonlinear and serious coupling relationship between the rotation angles and the measured magnetic flux density is established on the basis of the rotation transformation theory and the magnetic field model. In order to get rid of the influence on position detection caused by the harmonics of rotor magnetic field and the stator coil magnetic field, a sensor location combination scheme is proposed. In order to solve the nonlinear equation fast and accurately, a new position solution algorithm which combines the merits of gradient projection and particle swarm optimization(PSO) is presented. Then the rotation angles are obtained and the rotor position is identified. The validity of the sensing system is verified through the simulation.

  • Geomagnetic is refracted by building's wall and pillar. Therefore refracted geomagnetic is able to be used as feature point. In a specific space, a mobile device that is equipped with magnetic sensor array measures 3-axis magnetic field for each point. Magnetic field map is acquired by collecting the every sample point in the magnetic field. The measured magnetic field must be calibrated, because each magnetic sensor has a distortion. For this reason, sensor distortion model and sensor calibration method are proposed in this paper. Magnetic field that is measured by mobile device matches magnetic field map. Result of the matching is used for position estimation. This paper implements hardware system for position estimation method using magnetic field map.

A New Measurement Method of a Radial Pulse Wave Using Multiple Hall Array Devices

  • This study investigated the radial pulse waveform obtained by a medical pulsimeter sensor. A pulse-sensing part array consisting of multiple Hall devices was located over a skin-contacting part with a hard magnetic material. The periodic movement of the magnetic material of the skin-contacting part affected the magnetic field in the pulse-sensing part array and was detected by multiple Hall devices. The analysis of a radial pulse waveform that is measured noninvasively by detecting the changes of the magnetic field can be used to develop a new diagnostic algorithm of oriental medical apparatus.

  • The attitude information of spacecraft can be obtained by the sensors attached to it using a star tracker, three-axis magnetometer, three-axis gyroscope, and a global positioning signal receiver. By using these sensors, the spacecraft can be maneuvered by actuators that generate torques. In particular, electromagnetic-torque bars can be used for attitude control and as a momentum-canceling instrument. The spacecraft momentum can be created by the current through the electrical circuits and coils. Thus, the current around the electromagnetic-torque bars is a critical factor for precisely controlling the spacecraft. In connection with these concerns, a solar-cell array can be considered to prevent generation of a magnetic dipole moment because the solar-cell array can introduce a large amount of current through the electrical wires. The maximum value of a magnetic dipole moment that cannot affect precise control is $0.25A{\cdot}m^2$, which takes into account the current that flows through the reaction-wheel assembly and the magnetic-torque current. In this study, we designed a 300-W solar cell array and presented an optimal wire-routing method to minimize the magnetic dipole moment for space applications. We verified our proposed method by simulation.

  • TASS(Towed Array Sonar System) is a sonar system which tows the sensor array behind a platform. Array shape is generally assumed to be a straight line. But the array shape is often distorted by oceanic current or platform maneuvering which causes the performance loss of signal processing method like beamforming. So array shape estimation methods are needed. Typically the method based on Kalman filter using heading sensor is used. In practice, the measurement is corrupted by biases which are caused by rotation of the tow cable, varying magnetic fields and slowly varying stresses in the mechanical construction. Although they can't be calibrated but can be estimated. In this paper, we suggest the array shape estimation method based on Kalman filter compensating the sensor biases.

수중 센서 어레이에서 고 신뢰성을 고려한 신호 전송 시스템 설계 (A Design of Signal Transport System with High Reliability in an Underwater Sensor Array)

  • A system for detecting underwater target demands a high operational reliability because of the difficulty of maintenance and repair when the system has a few troubles during long operating period. Therefore, in this paper, we have proposed a signal transport system with a high reliability in an underwater sensor array system composed of magnetic and acoustic sensors. In this system, the nodes for signal transport are connected dually each other with single-hop construction and a magnetic sensor is connected to a couple of neighboring nodes. This enables the output signal to transport from a node to the next node and the next but one node. Also, the signal from a magnetic sensor can be transported to two nodes at the same time. Thus, the system with this construction makes possible to transport sensor data to another node which works normally when a transport node or cable have some faults and will operate normally although it happens some problems in a few signal transport nodes and connection cables.

  • The Minimum-Norm Least-Square(MNLS) approach based on lead field theory is an useful method to find an unique inverse solution for the measured magnetic field. The lead field depends on head geometry and location of sources and sensors. So, optimization of sensor array location is important issue for MNLS estimation. In this paper, we present an investigation for the optimization of sensor array location in computer simulation.

자기센서를 이용한 위치추정 정밀도 향상 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Method for Improving the Localization Accuracy using the Magnetic Sensors)

  • Magnetic Sensors can be employed to localize the unmanned vehicle which is running a predefined path where magnets are embedded for certain spaces. Among various sensor types, sensor arrays of 1-dimensional magnetic sensor have the merit of easy elimination of external magnetic component such as terrestrial magnetism. However, interpolation should be considered in the array sensors in order to increase the precision level because there is a limit in arranging sensors in close interval. We propose the novel interpolation method which can be performed with simple computation and represents the improved accuracy by increasing the linearity of the interaction formula. Demonstration of the linearity and simulation results show the proposed method exhibits the improved accuracy compared to the conventional method.

Soft Computing을 이용한 배열 센서 시스템의 제어 성능 개선 (Improvement of Control Performance of Array-Sensor System Using Soft Computing)

  • 본 논문에서는 비선형 특성을 갖는 센서 배열을 사용하는 시스템에서, 센서 배열에 soft computing을 이용하여 선형적인 특성을 얻고, 배열의 특성을 이용하여 외란의 영향을 감소시켜 시스템의 성능을 향상시키는 방법을 제안한다. 대표적인 예로 배열에 사용된 광전도 센서인 CdS는 단일 CdS 셀 조차도 비선형적인 특성을 갖고 있기 때문에 비선형 특성을 소속 함수로 표현하는 퍼지 변수를 사용한다. 배열로 사용되는 센서에 각 단일 센서의 소속 함수와 특성을 이용하는 퍼지 논리를 적용하여 전체적으로 선형화된 센서 특성을 얻는다. 각 센서의 비선형적 요소를 표현하는 소속함수의 파라미터들에 유전 알고리즘을 사용하여 최적화 된 선형 특성을 얻어 시스템의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다. 또한 보정을 위한 센서를 추가하지 않고 센서 배열의 특성을 이용하여 광전도 센서가 민감한 영향을 받는 외란을 보정하여 시스템의 외란 제거 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다. CdS 센서 배열의 자체 비선형성 뿐만 아니라 입력되는 물체의 그림자는 경계가 뚜렷하지 않고 흐릿하므로 퍼지 논리를 이용하는 방법이 거리측정과 외부 광원에 의한 외란에 대해 향상된 결과를 보인다. 제안된 방법을 적용한 센서 배열을 자기부상(Magnetic Levitation System)에서 볼의 거리 측정에 적용하여 성능을 검증한다.
