중세복식에 나타난 성(性)의 이론적인 사고 (A Study on the Dualism of Gender through the Costume in the Middle Age)

  • This is a study on the dualism of gender through the costume in the Middle Age. Jeanne d'Arc was an existential person in the Hundred Year's war(1338-1453). She persisted in retaining male attire and armour at her own request. One of the points for which she had been condemned was the wearing of male apparel. It was judged as an evil spirit and rendered Jeanne a witch and a heretic therefore she was burned to death in the market place at Rouen, on the 30th May, 1431. It is one of the evidence which represent dualism of gender through the costume.

대전차유도무기의 종말 받음각 및 입사각의 상관관계에 의한 표적 파괴율 분석 (Kill Probability Analysis Based on the Relation between Final Angle of Attack and Impact Angle of a Guided Anti-tank Missile)

  • The kill probability of a missile depends on guidance error, warhead performance, and etc. In this paper, we analyzed the kill probability of anti-tank missile in a new approach. Under the condition that the missile hit the target, we studied the effect of angle of attack and impact angle. High impact angle increase the probability that the missile hits the upper armour which is relatively weaker, while high angle of attack at the impact instant decreases the effectiveness of the jet induced by the warhead. We proposed a way to increase the capability of penetration by analyzing the interrelation between impact angle and angle of attack.

  • Anti-tank weapons are among the infantry weapons used by the armies of many countries. Anti-tank rockets and explosives such as TNT, generally used for armour piercing, are also frequently used in terrorist attacks. These attacks damage the protection facilities built from reinforced concrete. Rockets or similar explosives' rapid speed and burst temperatures pierce reinforced concrete during strikes, resulting in casualties and damage to crucial strategic structures. This study aimed to devise an economic and applicable reinforced concrete plate that could absorb the impact of anti-tank rockets and Trinitrotoluene (TNT) type explosives. Therefore, 5 different samples, produced from C50 reinforced concrete and 150×150 cm in size, were formed by combining plates of different numbers and thicknesses. Also, a sample, which was a single thick plate, was prepared. In destructive testing, Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG-7) was used as the anti-tank rocket launcher. As a result of this study, the impact damage was reduced with hollow concrete plate geometries, and recommendations were developed for complete prevention.

  • 고속의 탄을 방호하기 위해 전통적으로 알루미늄 합금, RHA(Rolled Homogeneous Armour) 강과 같이 인장 및 압축 강도가 큰 금속이 주로 방탄재료로 사용되었다. 이런 전통적인 방탄재료는 우수한 방탄성능을 가지는 반면, 면 밀도가 커서 방탄 장갑의 무게를 증가시키는 요인이 된다. 때문에 작은 면 밀도를 가질 뿐만 아니라 큰 비강도를 가지는 마그네슘합금이 전통적인 방탄재료의 대체제로 평가받고 있다. 하지만 전통적인 방탄재료에 비해 마그네슘합금의 공간 효율이 떨어져 장갑의 두께 혹은 부피를 증가시키는 요인이 된다. 본 연구에서는 마그네슘합금의 공간 효율의 개선을 위해 마그네슘합금 단일물질이 아닌 세라믹(Ceramic), 마그네슘합금(Mg alloy), 케블라(Kevlar)를 순서대로 적층한 하이브리드 장갑모델을 선정하였고, 9mm FMJ(Full Metal Jarket) 탄 위협에 대한 방탄해석을 통해 하이브리드 장갑이 방탄성능 척도인 면밀도를 감소시킬 뿐만 아니라 공간효율도 개선시킴을 보였다.

낮은 마운드 높이에 높은 상치구조물을 갖는 경사식 호안(LMHW 호안)의 월파량에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study for Overtopping Discharges of Sea Dike having Low Mound and High Wave Wall (LMHW))

  • 본 연구에서는 수리모형실험을 통해 낮은 마운드 높이에 높은 상치구조물을 갖는 경사식 호안(LMHW 호안)의 월파량에 관해 검토하였다. 상치구조물의 형식은 직립식, Flare 식 및 Bullnose 식을 적용하였으며, 호안 전면사면의 소파공은 테트라포드(2층적)와 아크로포드(1층적)를 적용하였다. 수리모형실험 결과는 EurOtop에서 제시하는 경사식 및 직립식 호안의 월파량 산정식과 비교하였다. LMHW 호안에 대해 경사식 호안의 월파량 산정식을 적용할 때 전면 소파공에 따른 조도영향계수(γf)로 EurOtop Manual에서 제시하는 계수를 적용할 경우 월파량이 과소평가 되었으나, 상치구조물 대비 마루높이 영향계수(γAR)를 곱한 수정조도계수를 적용한 경우에는 실험결과와 비교적 일치하였다. Flare 및 Bullnose 상치의 효과를 검토하기 위해 EurOtop Manual에서 제시하는 직립구조물 상부에 설치된 반파공의 효과(Kortenhaus et al., 2003; Pearson et al., 2004a)와 매끄러운 사면에 설치된 반파공의 효과(Van Doorslaer et al., 2015)를 적용하였다. 검토 결과 매끄러운 사면에 설치된 반파공의 효과가 낮은 마운드 높이에 높은 상치구조물을 갖는 경사식 호안에 보다 타당한 결과를 보였다.

저 마루높이 구조물의 피복재 안정성 실험: Tripod 피복 조건 (Experiments for Amour Stability of Low Crested Structure covered by Tripod Block)

  • 본 연구에서는 Tripod로 피복된 저 마루높이 구조물의 안정성을 검토하기 위해 2차원 수리실험을 수행하였다. Tripod의 안정성은 구조물 상부, 전사면 및 후사면을 대상으로 파형경사와 여유고를 변화시키며 검토하였다. 수행된 2차원 실험결과를 이용하여 Tripod의 안정계수 산정을 위한 경험식을 제안하였다. 그러나 Tripod는 형상으로 인해 양압력이 Tetrapod와 피복석에 비해 크기 때문에 저 마루높이 구조물의 주 피복재로는 적절하지 않다고 생각된다.

A CFD approach to rubble mound breakwater design

  • The paper provides some developments of a numerical approach ("Numerical Calculation of Flow Within Armour Units", FWAU) to the design of rubble mound breakwaters. The hydrodynamics of wave induced flow within the interstices of concrete blocks is simulated by making use of advanced, but well tested, CFD techniques to integrate RANS equations. While computationally very heavy, FWAU is gaining ground, due to its obvious advantages over the "porous media", i.e. the possibility of accounting for the highly non stationary effects, the reduced need of ad hoc calibration of filtration parameters and also - in perspective - the evaluation of hydrodynamic forces on single blocks. FWAU however is a complex technique, and in order to turn it into a practical design tool, a number of difficulties have to be overcome. The paper presents recent results about this validation, as well as insight into fluid dynamical aspects.

  • Environmental issues and the need to reduce energy consumption for lowering operating costs have pushed power efficiency to become one of the major issues of current research in the field of wireless networks. This paper addresses a number of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) precoding and scheduling techniques across the PHY and MAC layers that can operate under a reduced link budget and collectively improve the transmit power efficiency of a base station, while maintaining the same levels of service. Different MIMO transmission and precoding schemes proposed for LTE, achieving varying degrees of multiuser diversity in both the time, frequency as well as the space domain, are examined. Several fairness-aware resource allocation algorithms are applied to the considered MIMO schemes and a detailed analysis of the tradeoffs between power efficiency and quality of service is presented. This paper explicitly examines the performance of a system serving real-time, VoIP traffic under different traffic loading conditions and transmit power levels. It is demonstrated that by use of efficient scheduling and resource allocation techniques significant savings in terms of consumed energy can be achieved, without compromising QoS.

Ballistic impact analyses of triangular corrugated plates filled with foam core

  • The usage of sandwich structure is extensively increasing in lightweight protective structures due to its low density and other useful properties. Sandwich panels made of metal sheets with unfilled cellular cores are found to exhibit lower deflections by comparing to an equivalent monolithic plate of same metal and similar mass per unit density. However, the process of localized impact on solid structures involving plastic deformation, high strain rates, temperature effect, material erosion, etc. does not hold effectively as that of monolithic plate. In present work, the applications of the sandwich plate with corrugated core have been extended to develop optimized lightweight armour using foam as medium of its core by explicit finite element analysis (FEA). The mechanisms of hardened steel projectile penetration of aluminum corrugated sandwich panels filled with foams have been numerically investigated by finite element analysis (FEA). A comparative study is done for the triangular corrugated sandwich plate filled with polymeric foam and metallic foam with different densities in order to achieve the optimum penetration resistance to ballistic impact. Corrugated sandwich plates filled with metallic foams are found to be superior when compared to the polymeric one. The optimized results are then compared with that of equivalent solid and unfilled cores structure to observe the effectiveness of foam-filled corrugated sandwich plate which provides an effective resistance to ballistic response. The novel structure can be the alternative to solid aluminum plate in the applications of light weight protection system.

파코 라반 복식의 조형적 특성에 영향을 미친 요인 (Some Factors of Influence on Paco Rabanne`s Fashion Design)

  • Paco Rabanne, who has created experimental and prophetic avant-garde fashion by cutting edge techniques and revolutionary new materials, is known as one of the most influential fashion designer of modern times. The purpose of this study is to analyze the various factors, including some major artistic movements, which influenced on the formative characteristics of Paco Rabanne\`s fashion design. First, Paco Rabanne\`s fantastic new materials is also influenced by his study in architecture and his own fantasies -which other people can hardly imagine- during his early childhood. Second, light one of the most important element in Paco Ranbanne\`s fashion design, shows some influence of medieval symbols of love and salvation. Third, the artistic trends which influenced on Paco Rabanne\`s fashion include surrealism, opart, and kinetic art. His use of new materials and avant -garde style represents the influence of surrealism. his experimental use of waving plastics and glittering metal during his early period is especially related with opart and kinetic art in the early 1960s which emphasize the artistic effect of light and movement. Fourth, the geometrical figures like triangles, rectangles, and circles represent the influence of Egyptian architecture like pyramids and the geometrical characteristics of Eguptian art. Fifth, Paco Rabanne\`s distinctive use of metal chains in his fashion shows the influence of the chain mail hauberk, the medieval knightly armour. By using the medieval material Paco Rabanne properly expressed the modern person\`s pain and suffering. Sixth, the ethnic elements of Egypt, Africa, Spain, and Japan reflect the experience in his former lives he insists he lived. The ethnic elements of his dresses emphasize the natural vitality and inheritance from the past.
