  • Recently, a risk management in the construction project is getting more important. But the field application cases of risk management and its performance level that have been worked in the construction field are so rare and poor, because an application criteria on the risk management technique is not established systematically. So in order to apply of risk management in the field more successfully, it is necessary to optimize the technique of situational application on the risk management. The purpose of this study proposes the optimized application criteria in the field risk management based on the three categories such as historical data, experts, and analysis time.

The Effects of Number, Source, and Sequence of Analogs on Middle School Students' Concept Recall and Application (비유물의 개수, 출처 및 순서가 중학생들의 개념 회상 및 응용에 미치는 효과)

  • The effects of number, source, and sequence of analogs on middle school students' concept recall and application were investigated. Based on the number (one/two) and source(everyday/science) of analogs, four types of learning materials were developed and pilot-tested. Prior to the treatment the field dependence/independence (FD/l) test was administered and the scores were used as a blocking variable. The learning materials were read by randomly assigned middle school students (N=88), and the concept recall and application test was administered immediately and four weeks later. In the immediate and retention tests, there were no significant main effects of number, source, and sequence of analogs. In the application problems of retention test. however, there were some significant interaction effects with students' FD/I. Field-independent students who learned with two analogs scored significantly higher than those who learned with one analog. In the case of using two analogs, field-dependent students who learned with everyday-analog first scored significantly higher than those who learned with science-analog first.

Effects of Sawdust and Urea Application on Disease Severity and Streptomyces scabiei Pathogen Dynamics (톱밥 및 요소의 투입이 감자 더뎅이병 병원균(Streptomyces scabiei) 및 감자 더뎅이병 이병도 지수에 미치는 영향)

  • Potato common scab disease is caused by pathogens belonging to Streptomyces spp. and results in a serious yield loss worldwide. Despite decades of research aimed at disease management, a definitive control method remains undiscovered. This study aims to explore the correlation between the C/N ratio and urea application with potato common scab pathogen dynamics and disease severity. We applied sawdust with a high C/N ratio and urea into the soil prior to potato cropping, both in pot and field experiments. Disease severity assessments and quantification of the TxtB gene were conducted at the harvest stage. Furthermore, culture experiments were performed to assess the direct impact of urea on the pathogen. Our findings revealed that higher disease severity was correlated with a high C/N ratio application and pathogenic gene quantity. Urea exhibited a direct influence on S. scabiei activity, reducing the disease severity in pot experiments. However, the effects of urea application on disease suppression in the conductive field were inconclusive. Although the results of urea application experiments displayed inconsistencies between pot and field trials, urea worked as the control to suppress S. scabiei activity. Further investigations are needed under various field conditions to confirm these findings.

  • In this study, application feasibility of Magneto-rheological elastomer to friction control is investigated to identify the reciprocating friction and wear performance in applied magnetic field. Friction and wear of MR elastomerare measured by reciprocating tester by controlling the magnetic field. In the case of applied magnetic field, the coefficient of friction increases as both load and velocity increase. For the case of no magnetic field, the value of coefficient of friction hardly changes during the test. The amount of destruction is measured through cross section images of MR elastomer after tests. The depths of destruction are compared for MR elastomer with or without magnetic field. The results show that the depth of destruction of MR elastomer with magnetic field is deeper than without magnetic field. Based on the obtained results, optimal braking and driving performance can be achieved by controlling the coefficient of friction of MR elastomer, which can be applied to various industrial applications such as driving systems of automobiles and robots.

  • We investigated the quench characteristics accordance with increase of turns and applied voltage of matrix-type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with $1{\times}3$ matrixes. The matrix-type SFCL consists of the trigger part to apply magnetic field and the current-limiting part to limit fault current. The fault current limiting characteristics according to the increase of magnetic field and applied voltage were nearly same. This is because the application of magnetic field has not an affect on total impedance of SFCL. When number of turns of reactor increased, the voltage difference between two superconducting units in the current-limiting part according was decreased. The resistance difference generated in two superconducting units also was decreased. Therefore, we confirmed that the differences of critical behaviors between superconducting units by application of magnetic field were decreased. By this results, we could be decided the optimum number of turns of reactor to apply magnetic field.

  • The previous study developed the Filter-Disinfection-Adsorption (FDA) system to provide clean irrigation water for greenhouse cultivation as well as convenience water to farmers. In this study, the field examination was undertaken to assess performance of the FDA system. The field application was made in the suburb of Daegu, one of the large city in Korea. The study area located near by down-stream of Gum-Ho river is suffering low irrigation water quality problems with no water supply service facilities. Four water quality parameters including Suspended Solid (SS), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), coliform, and turbidity were selected to test the purification performance of FDA system. Also in order to improve the system, this study investigated the defects of using the FDA system through field monitoring. As results, it was found that this system can be used to supply good quality of irrigation water for greenhouse cultivation and also provide convenience water to farmers in the field areas of no water supply services.

  • Frequency content of seismic waves observed in field seismic survey in Korea has almost not exceeded 4kHz(wave length 1m). The limited frequency content not only restricts the minimum size of objects which can be surveyed in seismic tomogrpahic application, but also makes a fundamental limit in the resolution of tomogram. This paper shows the resonable result obtained by confirmimg and resolving the problems which can be occured m measuring procedure for the small - sized section through field application. Seismic tomographic field survey was performed for a concrete construction for railroad bridge in Korea, and to this the tomographic measurements for the stone-build foundation construction for a bell house of church in Germany were compared.

Principles and Applications in Multileaf Collimator for Radiation Therapy (방사선치료에 있어서 Multileaf Collimator의 원리와 그 응용)

  • A conventional treatment machine shapes x-ray fields by a set of dense metal collimators(jaws) built into the machine. These collimators are positioned by the therapist using hand controls in the treatment room, and usually remain stationary during treatment. The collimator jaws of treatment machines produce rectangular beams. Conventional beam shaping is accomplished through the use of a combination of these collimator jaws and secondary custom beam blocks attached to the accelerator beyond the collimator Jaws. The jaw positions for a particular field can be retrieved from a computer. One application of this increased capability is replacement of beam blocks for field-shaping with the MLC. There are three basic applications of the MLC. The first application is to replace conventional blocking. A second function of the MLC is related to conformal therapy, adjusting the field shape to match the beam's eye view projection of a planning target volume during treatment. The third application is the use of the MLC to achieve beam intensity modulation. The aim of this paper is to provide basic principle and to state fundamental concepts needed to implement the use of a multileaf collimator in the conventional clinical setting. The use of MLC field shaping is likely to save time and to incur a lower operating cost when compared to the use of beam blocks.

Biocontrol of Potato White Mold Using Coniothyrium minitans and Resistance of Potato Cultivars to Sclerotinia sclerotiorum

  • This study was conducted in Bahar and Lalehjin, Hamadan, Iran to assess the biocontrol efficacy of Coniothyrium minitans Campbell against potato white mold caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary under field and greenhouse conditions. In addition, the resistance of common potato cultivars against S. sclerotiorum was determined in a greenhouse experiment. After straw inoculation of six potato cultivars (Pashandi, Istambouli, Agria, Marfauna, Alpha and Spartaan) with S. sclerotiorum, the least disease severity was observed in Spartaan and Marfauna. Agria showed the most susceptibility to S. sclerotiorum. Compared with the healthy control, different concentrations of C. minitans conidia ($10^7$, $10^8$ and $10^9$ conidia/mL) reduced disease severity under greenhouse condition, and a concentration $10^9$ was the most effective treatment. During 2008 and 2009, four field trials were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of C. minitans in different soil and aerial applications on disease incidence of potato white mold. In 2008, soil application of $Contans^{(R)}$ WG (a commercial product of C. minitans) showed the greatest biocontrol capacity whereas soil application of solid-substrate C. minitans was found inferior when compared with other treatments in both Bahar and Lalehjin field sites. In 2009, benomyl application was the most effective treatment in reducing disease incidence in both tested field sites.

  • We analyze the global market for flexible electronic circuits, technical considerations, and analyze the market for application areas and regions. In the market analysis of the application field, the display field has the greatest influence in terms of market size and annual growth rate, and the OLE D lighting market size is expected to grow by nearly 50% in 2026. The multilayer flexible electronics, which dependently requires the semiconductor technology, has a larger market size than other structures and its growth rate is relatively large, leading the market and will be further analyzed in depth. The market size of multilayer flexible electronics applied to display field is expected to show an annual growth rate of 21.1% from $2.7 billion in 2017 to $9.8 billion in 2026, and the OLED market is expected to grow by 75.2% during the same periods. Recently, as electronic products have been miniaturized and advanced, and robust installation in a small space is required, companies that preoccupy multilayer structure or rigid flexible electronic circuit technology have an advantage in competitiveness, so many companies are trying to obtain this technology. These efforts are systematically supported by many countries because they can achieve mutual growth by strengthening the competitiveness of the application field and the same industry.
