A Study on the Usage of Apparel CAD Systems (국내 어패럴 CAD 시스템 사용현황에 관한 분석적 연구)

  • The study was to find out the current situation of supply and demand of apparel CAD systems in Korea. Also it was hoped to gather any valuable information about the current usage of apparel CAD systems for the development of the enhanced apparel CAD system. Three interviews were carried out for the study. The first interview with the importing agents was to find out the apparel CAD system's supplying situation. The second interview with the users of apparel CAD system was about the usage of the systems and related informations. The last interview was about the pattern making facilities, which was pointed out by the users to be the most inconvenient part of apparel CAD systems. The results of the survey were: 1. The supply and demand of apparel CAD systems is increasing. 2. The education, training, maintenance of the system should be improved by the supplier. 3. Apparel CAD systems are used for various production systems in the apparel industry. 4. 100% of the systems are utilized for pattern input and 89% of the systems are utilized for marker making. Only 15% of the systems are utilized in pattern making process, which 80% of the users realize to be computerized. 5. The most serious barrier to the better usage of the system is the communication with the system in foreign language. This barrier could be lifted when Korean apparel CAD system is developed.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide the reference information for user and potential users of apparel CAD system is Korea. Two interviews were carried out for the study. The apparel CAD system of Assyst, Gerber and Yuka was selected for technical comparative study. The results were as follows: 1. The future development of the apparel CAD system is the transfer of the developed pattern design from a 3D design system and of CIM concept. 2. The share of data is working closely in a module function. So the Assyst system provide connectivity and communication between all apparel CAD system's module and other automation programs. This system is suitable for CIM production line. 3. The Gerber system is developed the Apparel CAD system which is given by the CAM system's technical ability. This system is given high insurance of ability to the service and data transportation with other systems from users in the Korea. 4. The Yuka system is developed pattern making by the Apparel CAD system. This system's different methods which is compared with other systems are the split grading and auto pattern making. So this system is suitable for users which want to product many items and a little amount garment by using the Apparel CAD system.

Andongpo Apparel Pattern Design Connected with the 3D Apparel CAD System (3D CAD System에 의한 안동포의류제품 패턴설계)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop Andongpo apparel pattern design connected with the Apparel CAD system. It includes pattern making, grading, marking program. In this study, it will be able to make apparel pattern quickly and accurately by using Apparel CAD system. The results were as following : Computerization of the pattern making process is expected to provide higher accuracy and efficiency in apparel pattern making for narrow and expensive Andongpo. ESMOD pattern making method was selected as basic pattern. Tailored jacket patterns were developed for Andongpo. Refer to and . The jacket patterns developed is automatically depicted by inputting consumer's body size. Tailored jacket patterns for Andongpo were marked by using marking program in Apparel CAD system. The efficiency of marking appeared of 70% or more in Andongpo jacket patterns. This results is showed it has an effect on narrow and expensive Andongpo. 3tailored jacket patterns will be able to make a simulation by 3D Apparel CAD system. The results of this study is expected to provide higher consumer's satisfaction and internet brand launching. In addition, encouraging majority of the young to participate in using CAD program for Andongpo is regarded as beneficial for the reinforcement of competitiveness of traditional clothing business.

  • In the fashion industry, 2D apparel CAD technology has already matured and various 3D apparel CADs have been introduced and are available for users. In the fourth industrial revolution era, the 3D apparel technology will be highlighted, and the research of 3D apparel CAD will be much more emphasized upon. Currently, various 3D apparel CAD have been developed and commercialized due to the rapid development of technology. However, in reality, the analysis and discussions about its problems and the improvements for clothing from a user's perspective have not been carried out yet. The purpose of this study was to provide the reference information about 3D apparel CAD for users by studying and comparing the characteristics of 3D apparel CAD. The 3D apparel CAD, DC Suite and CLO3D were selected for technical comparative study. The 3D apparel CAD mainly includes 3D body system, garment pattern system and garment simulation system and so on. It was compared and analyzed; the problem was presented, and the directions of improvement were put forth.

  • The purpose of this research are to enhance the understanding of apparel CAD system and to suggest future research direction in the field of apparel CAD system. To do so, (1) the background and the concept, (2) the adoption situation, (3) the benefits and problems, (4) previous research are discussed. Also factors which can influence the adoption decision of apparel CAD system are Identified and related propositions which can provide the directions to future research are developed. Using the usage level of apparel CAD system adoption as the dependent variables, the selected organizational characteristics, as independent variables, are : firm size, product characteristics, and perception of apparel CAD system benefits.

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the teaching method and cognition process in using the PAD, Lectra and Investronica pattern CAD system. It is necessary to gather information about apparel pattern CAD to enable clothing and textile educators to efficiently incorporate CAD into their curricula and to provide more substantial information. Interviews and questionnaires were used in the research and twenty four questionnaires were used for data analysis. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Students thought that new technology such as apparel pattern CAD is important in the apparel industry, and they have a positive vision toward such innovation. 2) Student who study harder during in CAD class worked easily of all PAD, Investronica and Lectra system. 3) The most preferred teaching method is to small group instruction by the instructor and then having feedback from the instructor. 4) Students realized that they needed to take prerequisites subjects like clothing construction. 5) The most interesting step is the pattern grading system and the least interesting but easiest step is digitize for patterns in the Investronica system.

  • The purpose of this study was to present the effective activation of apparel CAD system and for this, the investigation of actual condition of CAD using companies and comparative inspection with the advanced study were carefully considered. The results were as follows : 1. The investigation result of the system using enterprises is that the direct effect from the operation of the CAD system after its introduction was the promptness, ad the indirect effect of it was the growth of operation level and operating reliance. 2. The problem originated from the system was the uncertainty of employer effectiveness and the financing source for it when introduced, and the lack of consciousness of it when operated. 3. The using level in pattern manufacturing function was lower than that in grading and marking. Therefore, as the full automation in CAD system is a part of CIM construction and the direction to which apparel companies should go, a firmly connected system between management & the persons in charge in apparel companies, facility supplying companies, universities & other educational institutes, and the Government should be duly constructed first of all n order to achieve this aim.

Development of a Grading Increment at Armhole Area by Apparel CAD System (어패럴 CAD 시스템에서 진동둘레 그레이딩 편차 설정)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a grading increment at armhole area by apparel CAD(Computer Aided Design) system. In developing a grading increment at armhole area, we analyzed ease values of armhole area in bodice and sleeve by manual drafting patterns of five sizes. We suggested grading increments applied Pythagorean theorem to development the grading increment of the armhole of sleeve. The results and discussions of this study were as follows: 1. In drafting each size, the ease values were not identical. It was difficult to draft perfectly the same armhole line shape between sizes. 2. According to our developed grading increments applied Pythagorean theorem, the ease values were identical between sizes and difference of the armhole length between sizes was also identical. 3. The grading formulas were made out for apparel CAD system. Once grading increment or formula is set in the computer, it can be easily altered to various clothing items at any time. The efficiency of grading work will be also improved and grading time will be reduced.

  • This study was designed for automated pattern drawing and grading a man's Durumagi, Korean traditional coat in order to reestablished and grade the pattern by Apparel CAD SYSTEM. For the study, AM-250 systems of Gerber as the computer and Macro program as the automated drawing were used. Also, PDS(Pattern Design System) was used for the grading of the original Durumagi pattern. Results were followings; First, the size data that could be standardized by reestablishing the pattern of a man's Durumagi by each size was presented. Second, The pattern was developed by each size. Third, new design was propose for mass production with the traditional design of the DURUMAGI Fourth, The time for making DURUMAGI pattern and the cost through the automated drawings by using the Macro program were reduced. Moreover, was presented the basic data for a ready to made garment like the Western garment. Five, A man's DURUMAGI by CAD System was graded that could be applied to ready to made Hanbok
