We analyzed patent trends regarding stabilization technology for steep slope hazards, focusing on patents applied for and registered in Korea, the USA, Japan, and Europe. The technology was classified into four groups at the second classification step: prediction techniques, instrumentation techniques, countermeasure/reinforcement/mitigation techniques, and laboratory tests. A total of 2,134 patents were selected for the final effective analysis. As a result of portfolio analysis using the correlation between the number of patents and the applicant for each patent, the Korean and USA situations were classified as belonging to the developing period, and the Japanese and European situations were classified as belonging to the ebbing period. In particular, patent activity in Korea has been enlivened by government-led research. As a result of technology analysis at the second classification step, prediction techniques arising from Japan are evaluated as a competitive power technique, and laboratory tests arising from the USA are evaluated as a competitive power technique. However, prediction techniques and laboratory tests arising from Korea are evaluated as a blank technique. According to the prediction results regarding future research and developments, a new finite element analysis method and a numerical model should be established as part of prediction techniques, as well as sensors, and hazard prediction should be developed by integrating information and equipment using IT technology as part of instrumentation techniques. In addition, improvements to existing structures for erosion control and the development of new slope-reinforcement methods are required as part of countermeasure/reinforcement/mitigation techniques, and new laboratory apparatus and methods with an optimizing structure should be developed as part of laboratory tests.
Since the late 19th century, scientific logic and techniques have been used extensively in the field of clinical pathology, including many laboratory tests utilizing various apparatuses and instruments. Among the techniques to measure hemoglobin, the visual color comparison method was most popular around this time; the specific gravity method and gasometric method were not widely adopted. Instruments that use the visual color comparison method include Gowers' hemoglobinometer, von Fleischl's hemoglobinometer, Dare's hemoglobinometer, Oliver's hemoglobinometer, Haden-Hausser hemoglobinometer, and Spencer Hb meter. Initially, the visual color comparison methods were used to diluate and hemolyze blood with distilled water and then to measure its color. Later, these methods were further developed to measure hemoglobin without dilution, and improved with the formation of acid or alkaline hematin ensuring the stability of color development. Hammerschlag's method as well as the Schmaltz and Peiper's methods were based on specific gravity measurement, but they were not widely used. The gasometric method used the Van Slyke gasometer, indirectly measuring the hemoglobin concentration. This method provides the most accurate results. This survey examined the characteristics and limitations of hemoglobinometers and methods used to measure hemoglobin from the late 19th century to the early-and mid-20th century. Moreover, this study aims to improve the understanding and applicability of the current methods and emerging technologies used in measuring hemoglobin. It is also expected that this investigation is the starting point to promote awareness of the need to organize historical data for a variety of historical relics of the diagnostic laboratory tests.

Effect of Water Treatment Sludge(WTS) on trace metals content in Sorghum(Sorghum bicolor(L.) Moench) was investigated. At this report measuring of nickel(Ni) content of the forage was presented. Four treatments, Control, Compost, Alum+(nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium)(NPK), Compost+NPK, were applied to the sorghum in a mountainous place near the Joongbu University. With the 1, 3, 5 hours conditions, the background value was the least on the 5 hours warming up of the AA-680 spectrophotometer, and on the condition(mean/SD) of absorbances of Ni observed was the most. It is necessary in Ni analysis warming up for longer period around 5 hours for this type of apparatus. And we think that the difference of warming time for Ni analysis in order to carry out better measuring; the reason might be the larger bonding energy of Ni than those of Cu, calcium(Ca), magnesium(Mg) and (potassium)(K).

The excavation performance and the cutting tool wear prediction of shield TBM are very important issues for design and construction in TBM tunneling. For hard-rock TBMs, CSM and NTNU model have been widely used for prediction of disc cutter wear and penetration rate. But in case of soft-ground TBMs, the wear evaluation and the excavation performance have not been studied in details due to the complexity of the ground behavior and therefore few testing methods have been proposed. In this study, a new soil abrasion and penetration tester (SAPT) that simulates EPB TBM excavation process is introduced which overcomes the drawbacks of the previously developed soil abrasivity testers. Parametric tests for penetration rate, foam mixing ratio, foam concentration were conducted to evaluate influential parameters affecting TBM excavation and also ripper wear was measured in laboratory. The results of artificial soil specimen composed of 70% illite and 30% silica sand showed TBM additives such as foam play a key role in terms of excavation and tool wear.

Using the new experimental method named "filtration-permeation", the average specific resistances which plays an important role in designing cake filtration apparatus and the development of cake filtration theory were measured in this study. By this new experimental method, two kinds of average specific resistances are measured. The one from the filtration is named 'filtration average specific resistance $\alpha_{avf}$, and the other from the permeation of particle eliminated water through the pre-formed cake is named 'permeation average specific resistance $\alpha_{avf}$. The "filtration-permeation" method is applied to three different kind of suspensions(i.e. particulate suspension, pre-flocculated suspension and macro-molecule suspension) to obtain filtration and permeation average specific resistances. A theoretical procedure of cake filtration is studied based on the values of permeation average specific resistance. With the study it was concluded that the influence of the sedimentation during particlulate filtration operation could not be ignored as commonly used. And the solid content of suspension, S, which also regarded usually as constant, changes during filtration of particles. It is also verified that the exact value of solid content of cake for floe filtration could not be obtained. These significant problems are all solved by our new "filtration-permeation" experimental method.

As electric power demand of customers is constantly increasing, more bulk power systems are needed to install in a network. By development of renewable energies and high-efficient facilities and deregulated electricity market, moreover, the amount of distributed resource is considerably increasing in distribution network consequently. Also, distribution network has become more and more complex as mesh network to improve the distribution system reliability and increase the flexibility and agility of network operation. These changes make fault current increase. Therefore, the fault current will exceed a circuit breaker capacity. In order to solve this problem, replacing breaker, changing operation mode of system and rectifying transformer parameters can be taken into account. The SFCL(Superconducting Fault Current Limiter) is one of the most promising power apparatus. This paper proposes a methodology for on optimal location of SFCL. This place is defined as considering the decrement of fault current by component type and the increment of reliability by customer type according to an location of SFCL in a distribution network connected with DG(Distributed Generation). With case studies on method of determining optimal location for SFCL applied to a radial network and a mesh network respectively, we proved that the proposed method is feasible.
In this paper, we propose an DAP system for dose evaluation of medical and industrial X-ray generator. Based on the DAP measurement technique using the Ion-Chamber, the proposed system can clearly measure the exposure radiation dose generated by the diagnostic X-ray apparatus. The hardware part of the DAP measures the amount of charge in the air that is captured by an X-ray. The high-speed processing algorithm part for cumulative radiation dose measurement through microcurrent measures the amount of charge captured by X-ray at a low implementation cost (power) with no input loss. The wired/wireless transmission/reception protocol part synchronized with the operation of the X-ray generator improves communication speed. The PC-based control program part for interlocking and aging measures the amount of X-ray generated in real time and enables measurement graphs and numerical value monitoring through PC GUI. As a result of evaluating the performance of the proposed system in an accredited testing laboratory, the measured values using DAP increased linearly in each energy band (30, 60, 100, 150 kV). In addition, since the standard deviation of the measured value at the point of 4 division was ${\pm}1.25%$, it was confirmed that the DAP showed uniform measurements regardless of location. It was confirmed that the normal operation was not less than ${\pm}4.2%$ of the international standard.
The purpose of this study is to develop a measurement tool quantifying the degree of high school students' scientific experience. Based on previous studies, we divided the factors that compose school scientific experience into three categories: general activity experience, scientific inquiry experience and laboratory apparatus experience. While, outside of school scientific experience was divided into general activity experience, interesting activity experience and field trip experience. Items consisting each factor were selected from scientific experience measurement tools used in previous researches, most frequent answers showed in open questionnaire about scientific experiences, and exploratory analysis of textbooks. After the measurement tool developed by pilot-questionnaires and previous researches were preliminary tested and then was secondarily tested for a group of 413 high school students. The content validity and construct validity of the measurement tool was evaluated by two school teachers and two experts in science education and by factor analysis, respectively. The reliability of the tool was estimated with Cronbach Alpha. The results of validity and reliability revealed that the tool was appropriate for measuring scientific experience.

High supersonic aircraft are exposed to high temperature environments by aerodynamic heating during supersonic flight. Thermal protection system structures such as double-panel structures are used on the skin of the fuselage and wings to prevent the transfer of high heat into the interior of an aircraft. The thin-walled double-panel skin can be exposed to acoustic loads by supersonic aircraft's high power engine noise and jet flow noise, which can cause sonic fatigue damage. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the behavior of supersonic aircraft skin structure under thermal-acoustic load and to predict fatigue life. In this paper, we designed and fabricated thermal-acoustic test equipment to simulate thermal-acoustic load. Thermal-acoustic testing of the titanium specimen under thermal-acoustic load was performed. The analytical model was verified by comparing the thermal-acoustic test results with the finite element analysis results.
The increment of impermeable land area due to widespread land development caused the adverse impact on urban disaster prevention because it could decrease the peak rate of runoff as well as increase the runoff and peak flow during rainy period. To date, little research has been conducted on the infiltration characteristics and quantitative analysis because of their highly dependence on construction method, paving material, surface permeability, and field condition. Hence, this study was performed to investigate the infiltration characteristics of runoff-reducing facilities according to the type of paving material, which were examined using experimental apparatus with varying paving material and rainfall intensity, and thus to provide fundamental research data for runoff-reducing infiltration facilities. In this study, the infiltration characteristics were examined under the rainfall intensity of 20, 30, 50, 80, 100, 200 mm/hr for a variety type of paving materials such as concrete, asphalt, sand, grassland, and permeable paving material. The infiltration rate for permeable paving material was observed to be more than 93% under the condition of less than 200 mm/hr of rainfall intensity. For the compacted earth and grassland, the ultimate infiltration rate was estimated to be about 13% to 67%. The permeable paving material was concluded to be the most appropriate one for the runoff-reducing infiltration facilities because it has more favorable advantages than others in the light of infiltration volume, disaster prevention, and river training.
