  • This study was carried out to evaluate antitoxic effects Taraxaci Herba extract against Cadium by calorimetric methods. The antitoxic activity of Taraxaci Herba ex tract in NIH 3T3 fibroblasts was evaluated by MTT (3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-phenyl-2H-tetrazoliumbromide), NR (Neutral red) and SRB (Sulforhodamine B protein) assay. The light microscopic study was carried out to observe morphological changes of the treated cells. These results were obtained as follows; The concentration of $10^{-2}mg/ml$ of Taraxaci Herba extract was shown significant antitoxic activity. The number of NIH 3T3 fibroblasts were antitoxic and tend to regenerate. These results suggest that Taraxaci Herba extract retains a potential antitoxic activity.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the antitoxic component in ethanol extract of Saururus chinesis (S. chinesis). The results were as follows: Generally, detoxication effects by s. chinesis extract increased in proportion to the extract concentration. non 8 $\mu\textrm{g}$/g dosage of S. chinesis extract was administered, it showed the highest antitoxic effects in metallothionein induction. After the extract treatment, body weights generally increased In proportion to the extract concentrations. from the above results, S. chinesis extract Increased Metallothionein concentration and decreased the toxicity of cadmium In rats. In vitro the antitoxic activity of ethanol extract of S. chinesis on NIH3T3 fibroblasts was evaluated by the MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide) and SRB (sulforhodamine B protein) assays. The light microscopic study was carried out to observe morphological changes of the treeated cells. $10^{-2}$mg/ml Concentrations of S. chinesis extract was shown significant antitoxic activity. The number of NIH 3T3 fibroblasts were increased and tend to regenerate. These result suggest that S. chinesis extract retains a potential antitoxic activity.

  • This study was condo더ed to investigate the antitoxic component in aqueous extract of Houttuynia cordata $T_{HUNB}$. The results were as follows: Generally, detoxification effects by Houttuynia cordata $T_{HUNB}$ extract increased in proportion to the extract concentrations in rats. When 40 mBtg dosage of Houttuynia cordata $T_{HUNB}$ extract was administrated, Houttynia cordata $T_{HUNB}$ extract showed the highest antitoxic effects in metallothionein induction. After the extract treatment, body weights increased in proportion to the extract concentrations. However, after 3 weeks, the body weight decreased insignificantly. From the above results, Houttuynia cordate $T_{HUNB}$ extract increased metallothionein concentration and decreased the toxicity of cadmium in rats. In vitro the antitoxic activity of aqueous extract of Houttuynia cordata $T_{HUNB}$ on NIH 373 fibroblasts was evaluated by the MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetra-zoliumbromide) and SRB (sulforhodamine B protein) assays. • This study was performed to investigate the antitoxic component in methanol fraction of Lonicerae fios. The results were as follows: 1. When a 500 ppm of water soluble fraction of Lonicerae flos was administered, it showed the highest antitoxic effect. 2. Generally, detoxication effects by methanol fraction of Lonicerae fios increased. When the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of Lonicerae rios was administered, it exhibited the highest antitoxic effect against the toxicity of cadmium in Liver. 3. The combined administration of cadmium and methanol fraction of Lonicerae rios significantly increased metallothionein in liver compared to administration of cadmium only. This phenomenon was more remarkable when the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of Lonicerae fios was administered with cadmium chloride.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the antitoxic components in the water extract of the roots of Trichosanthes kirilowii (Cucurbitaceae). The results were as follows: Generally, detoxication effects by the water extract of T. kirilowii increased in proportion to the concentrations. Experimental animals were treated with cadmium and T. kirilowii water extract by oral administration. When 40 mg/kg dosage of T. kirilowii extract was administrated it showed the highest antitoxic effects in metallothionein induction. After the water extract treatment, body weights did not increase in proportion to the extract concentrations. These results suggest that T. kirilowii extract increased metallothionein concentration and decreased the toxicity of cadmium in rats. In vitro the antitoxic activity of water extract of T. kirilowii on NIH 3T3 fibroblasts was evaluated by the MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide) and SRB (sulforhodamine B protein) assays. • This study was conducted to investigate the antitoxic effects of Pine Leaf extracts against cadmium toxicity. The experimental rats were divided into 5 groups, such as control group cadmium alone treatment group and simultaneous treatment groups of cadmium and three doses of Pine Leaf extracts. Each group was administered with different dose of Pine Leaf extracts such as 0.5 mg, 2.5 mg, 5.0 mg/kg wet weight in pallets for 12 weeks. Cadmium Chloride($CdCl_2$) was administered by 4 mg/kg body weight. The results were summarized as follows: The simultaneous administration of cadmium and Pine Leaf significantly more decreased cadmium concentration in liver tissues compared to the administration of cadmium only. When blood were measured, no significantly difference in haemoglobin, haematocrit, erythrocyte values compared to the administration of cadmium only, but RBC significantly more increased. The simultaneous administration of cadmium and Pine Leaf more no sigmificantly difference metallothionein concentration in liver than the administration of cadmium only. There were showed the histopathological slight changes in the liver and kidney tissues of rats.
