악성코드의 Anti-VM 기법 방지를 위한 방안 연구 (A study on the Prevention of Malware Anti-VM Technique)

  • 악성코드 분석을 실제머신에서 진행하는 도중 시스템이 손상될 경우 복원에 어려움이 있다. 이에 따라 역공학 분석가들은 일반적으로 가상환경에서 분석을 진행한다. 가상환경의 경우 실제머신 호스트 운영체제와는 독립되어 있고 악성코드를 발현하여 시스템이 손상이 되더라도 이전 스냅 샷으로 복원하는 것이 용이하기 때문에 가상환경에서 악성행위 동작을 분석한다. 하지만, 최근 들어 악성코드가 점점 지능화되고 있으며 이에 따라 악성코드가 VM(Virtual Machine)환경에서는 동작하지 않는 Anti-VM 기술이 적용된 악성코드가 증가하고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 가상환경에서 Anti-VM 기술이 적용된 악성코드를 분석할 수 있는 위한 환경 연구를 진행한다. 이에 따라, 악성코드가 가상환경을 탐지하는 기법을 분석하고 각 탐지기법을 방지할 수 있는 방안을 제안한다. 이를 통해 동적분석을 하지 못하도록 하는 분석 방해 지연 기술 중 하나인 Anti-VM 기술이 적용된 악성코드의 분석 결과를 향상 시키는 것을 목표로 한다.

약용식물추출물의 아토피성피부염에 대한 항염증 및 항알레르기효과(제 1보) (Anti-inflammatory and Anti-allergic Effects of Herbal Extracts on Atopic Dermatitis(Part I))

  • Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease associated with cutaneous hyper-reactivity to environmental triggers. In order to develop effective therapeutic herbal extracts for atopic dermatitis, cytotoxicity, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activities were investigated for various herbal extracts. Among candidate extracts, we selected Aloe vera L. (AV), Viola mandshurica W. Becker (VM), Punica granatum L. (PG), Dendrobium nobile L. (DN) and mixture of the above extracts (MX) for further investigations. All of them did not show cytotoxic activities to macrophage RAW264.7 cells below the concentration of 100 ppm. All showed antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects, although to various extents. In antioxidant effects, AV showed the highest effect, followed by PG and VM, while DN did the lowest. In evaluation for anti-inflammatory activities in macrophage RAW264.7 cells, AV and DN inhibited almost completely the LPS-induced production of nitric oxide, while AV, DN and VM showed strong inhibitory activities on the LPS-induced production of TNF-${\alpha}$. In anti-allergy effect in mast cell HMC-1, DN showed the highest effect, followed by AV and PG, while VM did the lowest. In the topical allergy reaction induced by compound 48/80 in Sprague-Dawley rat, DN exhibited significant anti-allergic effect, while PG, VM and AV did slight effect. These results suggest that AV, VM, PG and DN have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activities, and thus have the potential to reduce and alleviate the symptoms of atopic dermatitis.

The Synthesis and Evaluation of Pendant Oligosaccharide-Lipid Side Chain Copolymer

  • In this research, the in vitro anti-thrombogenecity of artificial materials was evaluated using hydrophilic/hydrophobic copolymers containing oiligosaccharide as hydrophilic moiety and phospholipid as hydrophobic moiety respectively. N-(p-vinylbenzyl)-[O-$\alpha$-D-glucopyranosyl-(1longrightarrow4)]$_{n-1}$-D-glucoamide(VM7A) was (VM7 A) was adopted as hydrophilic oligosaccharide and 2-acryloxybutyl-2-(triethylammonium)ethyl phosphoric acid (HBA-choline) was adopted as hydrophobic phospholipid. Copolymers having various monomer feeding molar ratios were synthesized through radical polymerization. The synthesized copolymers were identified using FT-IR, $^1$H-NMR, XPS, and DSC. The surface energy of the copolymers were evaluated by dynamic contact angle (DCA) method and checked different roles of VM7A as hydrophilic moiety and HBA-choline as hydrophobic moiety on surface. The surface morphological differences between hydrated and unhydrated surfaces of copolymers were observed and evaluated using Am. The platelets were separated from canine whole blood by centrifugation and adopted to the anti-thromobogenecity test of the copolymers. From the results, we find out that as VM7A ratio increases, so did anti-thrombogenecity. Such results show the possibility of using these copolymers as blood compatible materials in living body.y.

Treatment with Phytoestrogens Reversed Triclosan and Bisphenol A-Induced Anti-Apoptosis in Breast Cancer Cells

  • Triclosan (TCS) and bisphenol A (BPA) are endocrine-disrupting chemicals that interfere with the hormone or endocrine system and may cause cancer. Kaempferol (Kaem) and 3,3'-diindolylmethane (DIM) are phytoestrogens that play chemopreventive roles in the inhibition of carcinogenesis and cancer progression. In this study, the influence of TCS, BPA, Kaem, and DIM on proliferation and apoptotic abilities of VM7Luc4E2 breast cancer cells were examined. MTT assay revealed that TCS ($0.1-10{\mu}M$), BPA ($0.1-10{\mu}M$) and E2 ($0.01-0.0001{\mu}M$) induced significant cell proliferation of VM7Luc4E2 cells, which was restored to the control (0.1% DMSO) by co-treatment with Kaem ($30{\mu}M$) or DIM ($15{\mu}M$). Reactive oxygen species (ROS) production assays showed that TCS and BPA inhibited ROS production of VM7Luc4E2 cells similar to E2, but that co-treatment with Kaem or DIM on VM7Luc4E2 cells induced increased ROS production. Based on these results, the effects of TCS, BPA, Kaem, and DIM on protein expression of apoptosis and ROS production-related markers such as Bax and Bcl-xl, as well as endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-related markers such as $eIF2{\alpha}$ and CHOP were investigated by Western blot assay. The results revealed that TCS, and BPA induced anti-apoptosis by reducing ROS production and ER stress. However, Kaem and DIM effectively inhibited TCS and BPA-induced anti-apoptotic processes in VM7Luc4E2 cells. Overall, TCS and BPA were revealed to be distinct xenoestrogens that enhanced proliferation and anti-apoptosis, while Kaem and DIM were identified as natural chemopreventive compounds that effectively inhibited breast cancer cell proliferation and increased anti-apoptosis induced by TCS and BPA.

Effect of Grape Seed Proanthocyanidins on Tumor Vasculogenic Mimicry in Human Triple-negative Breast Cancer Cells

  • Vasculogenic mimicry (VM) refers to the unique ability of highly aggressive tumor cells to mimic the pattern of embryonic vasculogenesis, which was associated with invasion and metastasis. The grape seed proanthocyanidins (GSPs) had attracted much attention as a potential bioactive anti-carcinogenic agent. However, GSPs regulation of VM and its possible mechanisms in a triple-negative breast cancer cells (TNBCs) remain not clear. Therefore, we examined the effect of GSPs on VM information in HCC1937 cell model. In this study, we identified the VM structure via the three-dimensional (3D) matrix in vitro. Cell viability was measured using the CCK8 assay. The effects of GSPs on human triple-negative breast cancer cells (TNBCs) HCC1937 in terms of related proteins of VM information were determined using western blot analysis. In vitro, the tubular networks were found in highly invasive HCC1937 cells but not in the non-invasive MCF-7 cells when plated on matrigel. The number of vascular channels was significantly reduced when cells were exposed in GSPs ($100{\mu}g$/ml) and GSPs ($200{\mu}g/mL$) groups (all p<0.001). Furthermore, we found that treatment with GSPs promoted transition of the mesenchymal state to the epithelial state in HCC1937 cells as well as reducing the expression of Twist1 protein, a master EMT regulator.GSPs has the ability to inhibit VM information by the suppression of Twist1 protein that could be related to the reversal of epithelial-to-mesenchymal (EMT) process. It is firstly concluded that GSPs may be an p otential anti-VM botanical agent for human TNBCs.

I/Q 벡터 모듈레이터를 이용한 GPS CRPA 패턴 제어기술 (A Technology on the GPS CRPA Pattern Control Using the I/Q Vector Modulator)

  • This paper describes the antenna based GPS anti-jamming technology called CRPA(Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna), which used $2{\times}2$ array elements. In this system, the main functions are the antenna complex weight control and the GPS digital I/Q VM(Vector Modulator). To update the VM's I/Q complex weights, the PC based DAC(Digital to Analog Converter) module was also used and the two analog output voltages were applied to the $2{\times}2$ array elements to synthesize the null pattern. In the study, we also simulated the $2{\times}2$ GPS array null patterns to compare the null depth with experimental results. The VM was also modified at the frequency of 1.575GHz for the GPS L1 and controlled by the PC based VM software.

Angiogenesis and vasculogenic mimicry as therapeutic targets in ovarian cancer

  • Tumor angiogenesis is an essential process for growth and metastasis of cancer cells as it supplies tumors with oxygen and nutrients. During tumor angiogenesis, many pro-angiogenic factors are secreted by tumor cells to induce their own vascularization via activation of pre-existing host endothelium. However, accumulating evidence suggests that vasculogenic mimicry (VM) is a key alternative mechanism for tumor vascularization when tumors are faced with insufficient supply of oxygen and nutrients. VM is a tumor vascularization mechanism in which tumors create a blood supply system, in contrast to tumor angiogenesis mechanisms that depend on pre-existing host endothelium. VM is closely associated with tumor progression and poor prognosis in many cancers. Therefore, inhibition of VM may be a promising therapeutic strategy and may overcome the limitations of anti-angiogenesis therapy for cancer patients. In this review, we provide an overview of the current anti-angiogenic therapies for ovarian cancer and the current state of knowledge regarding the links between microRNAs and the VM process, with a focus on the mechanism that regulates associated signaling pathways in ovarian cancer. Moreover, we discuss the potential for VM as a therapeutic strategy against ovarian cancer.

약용식물 추출물의 아토피성 피부염에 대한 항염증 및 항알레르기 효과 (제 2 보) (Anti-inflammatory and Anti-allergic Effects of Herbal Extracts on Atopic Dermatitis ( Part II ))

  • 아토피성 피부염은 만성 재발성 염증성 피부질환으로 피부장벽기능의 이상과 환경유발인자에 대한 피부과민성과 연관되어 있다. 이전의 연구에서는 아토피성피부염에 효과적인 약용식물 추출물을 발굴하기 위하여 노회, 자회지정, 석류, 석곡 추출물들의 세포독성, 항산화, 항염, 항알레르기 효과를 검토하였다. 본 연구에서는 지질다당류로 활성화시킨 대식세포 RAW26.7 에 대한 약용식물 추출물들의 항염작용을 보다 상세하게 검토하여 항염작용의 근본적인 분자기전을 확인하고자 하였다. 역전사중합효소연쇄반응분석(reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction analysis) 결과, 석류, 석곡, 노회는 염증성 사이토카인인 IL-6 와 IL-$1{\beta}$ 유전자발현을 현저하게 억제시켰으며 자화지정은 영향이 없었다. 형질주입과 발광효소분석(transfection and luciferase analysis) 결과, 약용식물 모두가 전사 핵인자 카파비(NF-${\kappa}B$)의 활성화를 억제시켰다. 웨스턴 블럿 분석(western blot analysis) 결과, 노회는 JNK MAP 인산화효소의 활성화를 차단하였지만 p38 MAP 인산화효소의 활성화는 차단하지 못하였다. 반면에 자화지정, 석류, 석곡은 JNK MAP 인산화효소뿐만 아니라 p38 MAP 인산화효소의 활성화도 차단하였다. 이들 실험결과들은 노회, 자화지정, 석류, 석곡은 항염효능을 가지고 있으며 따라서 아토피성 피부염의 증상을 경감 또는 완화시키는 잠재력이 있음을 보여 준다.

Anti-VM기법을 활용한 프로그램동작환경 탐지연구 (A detection of program operating environment using Anti-VM method)

  • 가상머신을 탐지하는 기법을 이용하여 현재 프로그램이 동작하는 플랫폼과 운영환경을 알아내는 방법을 제안한다. 가상머신 탐지기법으로 데렉 소더(Derek Soeder, eEye Digital Security)를 사용한다. 이 기법은 예외 명령어를 이용해 프로그램이 가상머신과 네이티브머신 환경에서 작동중인지 알아낸다. 가상머신의 코드 세그먼트 레지스트 영역은 네이티브머신보다 불명확 하다. 이런 메모리 주소체계의 차이를 이용한 가상머신탐지 기법이다. 더 응용하여 프로그램의 작동환경이 디버거(인텔 Pin, Olly dbg)인지 가상머신(VMware, QEMU)인지 혹은 네이티브머신(os: windows7 sp3)인지 구분하는 방안을 제안한다.

코드패치 및 하이브리드 분석 환경을 활용한 악성코드 데이터셋 추출 프레임워크 설계 (Framework Design for Malware Dataset Extraction Using Code Patches in a Hybrid Analysis Environment)

  • 악성코드는 금전적인 목적에 의하여 서비스의 한 형태로 블랙마켓에 판매되고 있다. 판매에 따른 수요가 증가함에 따라 악성코드를 통한 공격이 확장되었다. 이에 대응하기 위해 인공지능을 활용한 탐지 및 분류 연구들이 등장하였지만, 공격자들은 분석을 방지하고자 다양한 안티 분석기술을 악성코드에 적용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 안티 분석 기술이 적용된 악성코드들로부터 데이터셋을 확보하기 위해 하이브리드형 바이너리 분석 프레임워크 Malware Analysis with Dynamic Extraction(MADE)을 제안한다. MADE 프레임워크는 Anti-VM, Anti-Debugging이 적재된 바이너리를 포함하여 자동화된 동적 분석을 수행할 수 있다. MADE 프레임워크는 Anti-Analysis 기술이 적용된 다양한 악성코드들에 대해 90% 이상 우회가 가능하며, API 호출 정보를 포함한 데이터셋 추출이 가능함을 실험을 통해 검증하였다.
