The Study of the Electroconductive Liquids Flow in a Conduction Magnetohydrodynamic Pump

  • This paper deals the study of a linear MHD pump solution used to eliminate and to avoid the dangers of the mercury appearing through pollution and contamination. The formulation of the magnetohydrodynamic phenomena is derived from Maxwell and Navier-Stokes equations are solved using the finite volume method. Simulation results highlight the performance of the pump such as the electromagnetic force, the velocity, and the pressure, the application of Ansys-Fluent software validation these results.

  • The two-dimensional finite element formulation for the basic field equations governing electrochemical responses of ionic conducting polymer-metal composite(IPMC) actuators is proposed in the present study. Biaxial deformation of a platinum plated Nafion actuator having 4 electrodes is dominated by electro-osmosis of hydrated ions and self-diffusion of free water molecules. Some numerical studies for IPMC actuators with electric field are carried out in order to show the validity of the proposed formulation and electric field analysis for the initial condition of total charge distribution are conducted using commercial code ANSYS/Emag.

  • This study is an introduction of ADS in which we have written out programs which can design three-dimensional machine parts and reduce the required time for design them comparing with other CADs. Among the machine parts, screws are commonly used in joining one part to another because of easy handing but welding and rivet are used to join permanently them even thought hard operation. Consequently, we have developed the screw fer permanent fixing using stairs type screw threads, which is considered as the main machine parts in joining. For that, we designed permanent fastened screws according to the different rotation angle using VisualLISP and transferred it to ANSYS, structural solution program, to find out allowance load, maximum equivalent stress and where it occur.

  • Rubber seat is extensively used to reduce the vibration of machine or structure. Over the years an enormous effort has been put into developing procedures to provide properties of rubber material for design function. However, there are still a lot of difficulties to analyze static characteristics of rubber components with hyper elasticity and nonlinear large deformation. In this paper material property is obtained by strain-stress curve using a tension test. Mooney-Rivlin Coefficients are gotten by fitting strain-stress curve. The visco-elastic characteristics of refrigerator rubber mount is determined by using ANSYS. And to minimize the rubber stiffness, the rubber seat shape optimization is performed.

  • A flat-type L$_1$-B$_{8}$ Mode Ultrasonic motor(USM) uses longitudinal-bending multi-mode vibrator which is constructed with the metal-piezoceramic composite thin plate vibrator. Especially, the characteristics of vibrating displacement of the vibrator are important for the fabrication of USM. So, in this study, we tried to analyze them by the FEM(finite element method) simulation program. ANSYS 5.6 we used is a finite element software enabling the analysis of 2 or 3 dimensional structure of piezoelectric materials. Using this made us analyzing the resonance frequency and calculating displacement of vibrator and then the position of the projection.n.

  • In this paper bolt-tightened Langevin type vibrator was designed using longitudinal-torsional vibration. These two vibrations make rotary displacement at the end of the vibrator. ANSYS was used to determine shape and dimension of the vibrator in addition to resonant frequency, displacement and stress distribution. This kind of vibrator can be applied for a brakeless and gearless rotary motor which has high torque at low speed.

  • This study analyzes performance-weight ratio of polycarbonate(PC) pigpen and steel pigpen. The finite element models using the ANSYS program described in this paper is attractive not only because it shows excellent accuracy in analysis but also it shows the benefit of parameter study by using APDL. We have performed a parameter study by the width variation of PC pigpen. And we compared and analyzed the results of PC pigpen and steel pigpen. From the numerical examples, we confirmed the validity of PC pigpen.

  • Transducer for linear ultrasonic motor with symmetric and anil anti-symmetric modes was studied. The transducer was composed of two Langevin-type vibrators that cross at right angles with each other at tip. In order to excite two vibration modes, two Langevin-type vibrators must have 90-degree phase difference with each other. As a result, tip of transducers moves in elliptical motion. Elliptical trajectoric of transducer was analyzed by employing the finite element method. From these results, the ultrasonic motor was fabricated and was measured for characteristics. In this paper compared an ANSYS analysis with an experiment results. The no-road maximum speed was 113.1[cm/s].

  • This paper deals with a flat type ultrasonic motor, which uses a longitudinal-bending multi mode vibrator of rectangular form. A linear ultrasonic motor was designed by combination of the first longitudinal and eighth bending mode, and the motor consisted of a straight aluminum alloy bar bonded with piezoelectric ceramic elements as a driving element. The geometrical dimensions of the rectangular aluminum vibrator were determined by Euler-Bernoulli theory ANSYS was used to analyze the resonance frequency and the displacement of the stator vibrator. The resonance frequency of the motor provides the elliptical motion. and ANSYS was used to analyze elliptical motion and elliptical trajectory of stator vibrator when thickness of piezoelectric ceramics was varied respectively 0.763, 1.526, 2.289[mm] and width of stator vibrator was varied respectively 16, 12, 8, 4[mm]. When thickness of piezoelectric ceramics was decreased, the displacement of the stator vibrator was increased. And when width of stator vibrator was decreased, the displacement of the stator vibrator was increased.

  • This paper present a new sort of multilayer piezoelectric ceramic transformer for AC-adapter. This piezoelectric transformer operates in the second longitudinal vibration mode. The output voltage of the multilayer piezoelectric transformer was simulated using ANSYS, that is one of the FEM analysis program. As results, the minimum displacement was occurred at the two paints where one is the middle of input and the other is middle of output side in second thickness extensional vibration mode.
