도시생태계 수목의 대기정화 역할 -용인시를 사례료- (Role of Atmospheric Purification by Trees in Urban Ecosystem -in the Case of Yongin-)

  • This study quantified annual $CO_2$, SO$_2$ and NO$_2$ uptake and annual $O_2$ production by trees in Yongin´s urban ecosystem, and explored values of urban tree plantings in atmospheric purification. Woody plant cover was only 7.7% with planting density of 1. trees/100$m^2$, and the tree-age structure was largely characterized by a young, growing tree population. Annual per capita pollutant emissions from fossil fuel consumption were 7.3t/yr for $CO_2$, 7.6kg/yr for SO$_2$, and 26.6kg/yr for NO$_{x}$. Carbon dioxide storage per unit urban area by trees was 13.1t/ha and the economic value for $CO_2$ storage was ₩6.6millions/ha. Annual atmospheric purification was 2.0t/ha/yr for $CO_2$ uptake, 2.0kg/ha/yr for SO$_2$ uptake, 4.0kg/ha/yr for NO$_2$ uptake and 1.5t/ha/yr for $O_2$ production, and the annual economic value for the atmospheric purification was ₩1.5millions/ha/yr. Urbantrees stored an amount of $CO_2$ equivalent to about 3.1% of the total annual $CO_2$ emissions, and annually offset total $CO_2$ emissions by 0.5%. Annual SO$_2$ and NO$_2$ uptake by trees equaled 0.5% of total SO$_2$ emissions and 0.3% of total NO$_{x}$ emissions, respectively. Urban trees also played an important role through producing annually 9.2 of the $O_2$ requirement for Yongin´s total population, despite relatively poor tree plantings. Future active plantings and greenspace enlargement in the study city could enhance the role of atmospheric purification by urban trees. The results from this study are expected to be useful in emphasizing environment benefits of urban trees, and in urging the continuous necessity for tree planting and management budget.get.

Lifetime Production of Kajli Ewes at Khushab and Khizerabad : Reproduction and Lamb Production as Affected by Ewe Longevity

  • Data from 5,311 ewes and 13,076 lambing from 1977 through 1994 were used to analyse both annual and cumulative outputs in terms on total number of lambs born, total lamb weight weaned and total wool produced per ewe for ewe longevity 1 to 8 depending on their productive life in the flock. Ewes at Khushab produced 0.08 more lambs per parturition than ewes at Khizerabad; however, 0.39 less lambs were weaned at Khushab than at Khizerabad. Similarly, cumulative number of lambs born was more at Khushab flock than Khizerabad flock (p < .01). However, total weight of lambs weaned was greater at Khizerabad than Khushab flock (p < .01) for each ewe longevity. Most ewes (35%) were sold/replaced just after their first parturition (i. e. ewe longevity 1). The overall mean for annual sale/replacement was 32 and 23% at Khushab and Khizerabad, respectively. Distribution of growth and reproductive traits from 1977-94 did not show upward or downward trend inspite of heavy sale/replacement except yearly variation. Lack of any genetic progress over the year suggested that random breeding was employed without any scientific selection programme. Annual means for lambs born, lambs weaned and weight of lambs weaned per ewe present in the flock were the highest for ewe longevity 2 compared with other ewe longevity groups. Relative efficiency in terms of net income was highest for ewe longevity 5 followed by ewe longevity 4 and 6 in both flocks.

성산 풍력발전단지의 연간발전량 예측 정확도 평가 (Accuracy Assessment of Annual Energy Production Estimated for Seongsan Wind Farm)

  • In order to examine how accurately the wind farm design software, WindPRO and Meteodyn WT, predict annual energy production (AEP), an investigation was carried out for Seongsan wind farm of Jeju Island. The one-year wind data was measured from wind sensors on met masts of Susan and Sumang which are 2.3 km, and 18 km away from Seongsan wind farm, respectively. MERRA (Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications) reanalysis data was also analyzed for the same period of time. The real AEP data came from SCADA system of Seongsan wind farm, which was compare with AEP data predicted by WindPRO and Meteodyn WT. As a result, AEP predicted by Meteodyn WT was lower than that by WindPRO. The analysis of using wind data from met masts led to the conclusion that AEP prediction by CFD software, Meteodyn WT, is not always more accurate than that by linear program software, WindPRO. However, when MERRA reanalysis data was used, Meteodyn WT predicted AEP more accurately than WindPRO.

  • Finding promising wind farm sites in islands of Korea is performed in this study. Total ten islands that have been measuring wind speed and direction using automatic weather stations for at least ten years were subjects of this study. Conditions for finding suitable wind farm sites including wind resource and various exclusion factors were applied and two islands that were found not to be suitable for wind farms were excluded. Micositing of a single wind turbine for the remaining eight islands was performed to estimate the annual energy production and the capacity factor.. Based on the simulation results, the wind farm sites selected within the eight islands were found to be suitable for wind power. The capacity factors were varied between 22.3% and 33.0% for a 100 kW wind turbine having a hub height of 30 m.

  • 본 논문에서는 유한요소법(Finite Element Method)을 기반으로 하는 직접 구동형 영구자석 풍력발전기를 DEAS(Dynamic Encoding Algorithm for Searches)를 이용하여 연간 최대에너지 생산량(Annual Energy Production : AEP) 최대화를 목표로 최적설계 하였다. 특히, 풍력발전기의 전 운전영역을 고려하기 위하여 해당풍속에서의 통계적 확률밀도와 연간 운전시간을 적용하여 연간 최대에너지 생산량을 산정 하였으며, 여기서 발생한 과도한 해석수행 연산시간을 줄이기 위해서 전역 최적화 알고리즘인 DEAS를 적용하여 풍력발전기 최적설계를 수행하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 FEM(Finite Element Method)을 이용한 직접구동형 영구자석 풍력발전기의 최적설계를 위해 최신의 최적화 기법인 MADS(Mesh Adaptive Direct Search)를 적용하였으며, 최적설계 목표는 연간 에너지 생산량(Annual Energy Production : AEP)을 최대화 하는 방향으로 선정하였다. 또한, 풍력발전기의 전 운전영역을 고려하기 위해 해당풍속에서의 통계적 확률밀도와 연간 운전시간을 적용하여 연간 최대에너지 생산량을 산정하였다. 아울러, MADS의 최적설계 결과와 병렬분산 컴퓨팅을 결합한 유전 알고리즘(Genetic Algorithm : GA)의 최적설계 결과를 비교하였으며, MADS는 병렬분산 유전알고리즘에 비해 상대적으로 빠른 수렴성을 나타내었다.

AWS 풍황데이터를 이용한 강원풍력발전단지 연간에너지발전량 예측 (Prediction of Annual Energy Production of Gangwon Wind Farm using AWS Wind Data)

  • The wind data obtained from an AWS(Automated Weather Station) was used to predict the AEP(annual energy production) of Gangwon wind farm having a total capacity of 98 MWin Korea. A wind energy prediction program based on the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equation was used. Predictions were made for three consecutive years starting from 2007 and the results were compared with the actual AEPs presented in the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) monitoring report of the wind farm. The results from the prediction program were close to the actual AEPs and the errors were within 7.8%.

Aerodynamic assessment of airfoils for use in small wind turbines

  • A successful blade design must satisfy some criterions which might be in conflict with maximizing annual energy yield for a specified wind speed distribution. These criterions include maximizing power output, more resistance to fatigue loads, reduction of tip deflection, avoid resonance and minimize weight and cost. These criterions can be satisfied by modifying the geometrical parameters of the blade. This study is dedicated to the aerodynamic assessment of a 20 kW horizontal axis wind turbine operating with two possible airfoils; that is $G{\ddot{o}}ttingen$ 413 and NACA 2415 airfoils (the Gottingen airfoil never been used in wind turbines). For this study parameters such as chord (constant, tapered and elliptic), twist angle (constant and linear) are varied and applied to the two airfoils independently in order to determine the most adequate blade configuration that produce the highest annual energy output. A home built numerical code based on the Blade Element Momentum (BEM) method with both Prandtl tip loss correction and Glauert correction, X-Foil and Weibull distribution is developed in Matlab and validated against available numerical and experimental data. The results of the assessment showed that the NACA 2415 airfoil section with elliptic chord and constant twist angle distributions produced the highest annual energy production.

Effects of Bedding Materials and Season on the Composition and Production Rate of Broiler Litter as a Nutrient Resource for Ruminants

  • Broiler litter can be used as a feedstuff for ruminants. Fifty seven litter samples collected from 47 farms in Kyungkee Province of Korea were analyzed to assess the effects of type and amount of bedding (rice hulls vs. sawdust), season (winter vs. summer) and drinkers (bell- vs. trough-type) on composition of broiler litter. Rearing conditions of broilers were also surveyed from the farms to estimate annual production rate of litter. Nutrient composition of broiler litter varied widely and moisture and ash concentrations were higher than observed by other researchers. Ash concentration was higher (p<0.05) for samples taken in winter than in summer and higher (p<0.05) in the rice hulls- than in the sawdust-based litter both in winter and summer. Only minor differences in litter composition were noted between drinkers. Ash was negatively correlated with crude protein and neutral detergent fiber (p<0.01), and acid detergent fiber (p<0.05). The estimated litter production rate was 2.7 kg per bird per flock on a wet basis (60% DM) and the annual production rate was 12.7 kg per bird per yr (60% DM). Therefore, the 42 million broilers per month grown in Korea in 1999 produced a total of 533,400 metric tons of litter.

부산연안 미역(Undaria pinnatifida)양식 생산 예측을 위한 장기 해양자료 분석 (Analysis of Long-term Oceanic Data for the Prediction of Undaria pinnatifida Aquaculture Production off the Coast of Busan)

  • To understand the relationship between various oceanographic factors and seaweed production, we examined the annual accumulated aquaculture production of Undaria pinnatifida with respect to water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, current patterns and nutrients over 21 years (1990-2010) (this date range does not add up to over 21 years) along the coast of Busan, Korea. According to the results of the cross-correlation function, annual production of U. pinnatifida was closely related to the following conditions: low water temperature, low salinity, strong Tsushima Warm Current, and high concentrations of dissolved oxygen and nutrients. In this study, we also considered the Index of Oceanographic factors for U. pinnatifida (IOU) by computation of a simple equation. This index will be used for the prediction of U. pinnatifida aquaculture production off the coast of Busan.
