This study investigates the bending and stability properties of cylindrical constructions, with a focus on their use in the design and implementation of sporting equipment. The work focuses on a cylindrical construction resembling nanomotors, similar to components seen in sports equipment, using mathematical modeling based on high-order beam theory and nonlocal strain gradient theory. The analysis provides important insights into the dynamic behavior of these systems, revealing light on the impact of numerous factors such as rotational velocity, section change rate, and structural dimensions. The results show a relationship between angular velocity growth and section change rate, which leads to an increase in fundamental frequency values. Furthermore, the research emphasizes the effect of structural factors on dynamic deflection, giving critical information for increasing the stability and performance of sporting equipment. This study adds to the area of sports engineering by providing a more nuanced understanding of how cylindrical constructions react under diverse settings. The results will help to guide the design and manufacturing processes of sports equipment, assuring improved stability and performance for players across a wide range of sports.
PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to investigate a comparison of implant bone bed preparation with Er,Cr:YSGG laser and conventional drills on the relationship between implant stability quotient (ISQ) values and implant insertion variables. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Forty implants were inserted into two different types of pig rib bone. One group was prepared with conventional drills and a total of 20 implants were inserted into type I and type II bone. The other group was prepared with a Er,Cr:YSGG laser and a total of 20 implants were inserted into type I and type II bone. ISQ, maximum insertion torque, angular momentum, and insertion torque energy values were measured. RESULTS. The mean values for variables were significantly higher in type I bone than in type II bone (P < .01). In type I bone, the ISQ values in the drill group were significantly higher than in the laser group (P < .05). In type II bone, the ISQ values in the laser group were significantly higher than in the drill group (P < .01). In both type I and type II bone, the maximum insertion torque, total energy, and total angular momentum values between the drill and laser groups did not differ significantly (P ${\geq}$ .05). The ISQ values were correlated with maximum insertion torque (P < .01, r = .731), total energy (P < .01, r = .696), and angular momentum (P < .01, r = .696). CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of this study, the effects of bone bed preparation with Er,Cr:YSGG laser on the relationship between implant stability quotient (ISQ) values and implant insertion variables were comparable to those of drilling.

Government plans to construct a double-deck tunnel under a portion of Gyeongbu Expressway that will solve traffic problems and could also be used as a flood storage facility. Divergence tunnels connect the main tunnel to the urban areas and their construction effects on adjacent structures at shallow depth need to be analyzed. This study primarily includes the numerical analysis of construction effects of divergence tunnels on utility tunnels. The utility tunnel was analyzed for three cases of volume loss applied to the divergence tunnel and two cases of the angle between main tunnel and divergence tunnel ($36^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$). The results show that the more the volume loss was applied and the shorter the distance was between utility tunnel and divergence tunnel, the more the utility tunnel was affected in terms of induced displacements, angular displacement and stability. The worst scenario was found out to be the one where the angle between main tunnel and divergence tunnel was $36^{\circ}$ and the distance between divergence tunnel and utility tunnel was 10 m, resulting in the largest displacement and differential settlement at the bottom of the utility tunnel. A relationship between the angular displacement and the distance to diameter ratio was also established.
In this research, the dynamic stability and nonlinear vibration behavior of a smart rotating sandwich cylindrical shell is studied. The core of the structure is a functionally graded material (FGM) which is integrated by functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) layers subjected to electric field. The piezoelectric layers at the inner and outer surfaces used as actuator and sensor, respectively. By applying the energy method and Hamilton's principle, the governing equations of sandwich cylindrical shell derived based on first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The Galerkin method is used to discriminate the motion equations and the equations are converted to the form of the ordinary differential equations in terms of time. The perturbation method is employed to find the relation between nonlinear frequency and the amplitude of vibration. The main objective of this research is to determine the nonlinear frequencies and nonlinear vibration control by using sensor and actuator layers. The effects of geometrical parameters, power law index of core, sensor and actuator layers, angular velocity and scale transformation parameter on nonlinear frequency-amplitude response diagram and dynamic stability of sandwich cylindrical shell are investigated. The results of this research can be used to design and vibration control of rotating systems in various industries such as aircraft, biomechanics and automobile manufacturing.
In this research any abnormal motion of a vehicle is detected by utilizing the difference between the reference and actual yaw velocities as sell as the information on vehicle slip angle and slip angular velocity. This information is then used as a criterion for execution of the yaw moment control. A yaw moment control algorithm based on the brake control is proposed for improving the directional stability of the vehicle. The controller executes brake controls to provide each wheel with adequate brake pressures, which generate the needed yaw moment. It is shown that the proposed yaw moment control logic can provide excellent cornering capabilities even on low friction roads. This active control scheme can prevent a vehicle from behaving abnormally, and can assist normal drivers in coping with dangerous situations as well as experienced drivers.
This paper presents the nonlinear $H_{\infty}$ switching power system stabilizer (PSS) based on Lie group and Lie transformation theory. The proposed controller combines the $H_{\infty}$ switching controller and Lie theory. The proposed power system stabilizer (PSS) is used to improve the transient stability in the time-domain and to solve the problem associated with the inaccessible state variables by measuring only the angular velocity. In the simulation study, the different load conditions, fault periods, and fault locations are considered. The nonlinear time-domain simulation showed that the proposed controller was effective restoring transient stability in a one-machine infinite-bus power system.

Dynamic stability in rotation of the head drum of digital VCR is very important due to the nature of high rotation speed and small angular inertia. Therefore special considerations on reducing the unbalance and assuring the stability are required the design and manufacturing process. In this paper, newly developed digital head drum is introduced. And advanced methods in analyzing and reducing the unbalance is suggested. LDV(Laser Doppler Vibrometer) was used as a measurement system verifying our modeling and new method for balancing. Experiments show that the theoretical data estimated by modeling of shaft bending caused by unbalance mass and the measured data are almost identical. The deflection was reduced to 30% by applying the suggested balancing method.

The vehicle dynamic control system needs to detect the yaw rate of vehicle and a yaw rate sensor is required as a central component. Therefore, A sensor on the basic of the "tuning fork method" for automotive controls is being developed. The sensor was fabricated by the surface micro machining process to miniaturize its size. The sensor output offset is ${\pm}0.37^{\circ}/sec$ in the room temperature. The resonance frequency of the fabricated yaw rate sensor is measured to 5.29kHz for the drive mode. Tests of the sensor demonstrate that its performance is equivalent to that required for implementation of a yaw control system. Vehicle handling and safety are substantially improved using the sensor to implement yaw control.

In this paper, transparent circuit analog radar absorbing structure with angular stability for stealth aircraft canopy was proposed and designed. To obtain wideband electromagnetic absorption, optical transparency and smaller thickness, we proposed the novel FSS(Frequency Selective Surface) for X-band and implemented the resistive FSS and PEC(Perfect Electric Conductor) plane using ITO(Indium Thin Oxide) coating with optical transmissivity of 90 %. Reflection loss characteristics for different incident angles of both TE(Transverse Electric) and TM(Transverse Magnetic) polarizations are presented through simulations. We then fabricated the proposed structure to verify the simulation results. The comparisons between the simulation and measured results show good agreements. The results also show that the proposed radar absorbing structure can provide better frequency stability for different incidence angles and polarizations as well as optical transparency. We can apply this proposed structure to the canopy of stealth aircraft and other stealth applications for visible transparency.
This paper describes recent development activities of the GENESIS code, which is a transport code for heterogeneous three-dimensional geometry, focusing on applications to reactor core analysis. For the treatment of anisotropic scattering, the concept of the simplified Pn method is introduced in order to reduce storage of flux moments. The accuracy of the present method is verified through a benchmark problem. Next, the iteration stability of the GENESIS code for the highly voided condition, which would appear in a severe accident (e.g., design extension) conditions, is discussed. The efficiencies of the coarse mesh finite difference and generalized coarse mesh rebalance acceleration methods are verified with various stabilization techniques. Use of the effective diffusion coefficient and the artificial grid diffusion coefficients are found to be effective to stabilize the acceleration calculation in highly voided conditions.
