  • Cu-Ni thin film strain gauges for diaphragm-type pressure sensors were developed. Thin films of Cu-Ni alloys of various compositions were deposited onto glass and stainless steel substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. The effects of composition substrate temperature Ar partial pressure and aging on the electrical properties of Cu-Ni film strain gauges in the thickness range 500~2000$\AA$ are discussed. The maximum resistivity(95.6 $\mu$$\Omega$cm) is obtained from 53wt%Cu-47wt%Ni films while the temperature coefficient of resistance(TCR) becomes minimum(25.6ppm/$^{\circ}C$). The gauge factor is about 1.9.

치아파절시험과 유한요소해석에서의 치경 변형률에 관한 연구 (Comparison of Strain on Dental Cervical Line between Tooth Fracture Test and Finite Element Analysis)

  • When occlusal force is applied to a tooth, stress concentration occurs on the dental cervical line. This study investigated to find the maximum force and strain of natural teeth using an Instron and strain gauges, comparing the strain of cervical enamel using finite element analysis(FEA). Tests were conducted with a mandibular first premolar applying the conditions of occlusion. Then, the FEA was processed with the same as conditions of the fracture test. The test showed that the maximum force, maximum compressive strain and maximum tensional strain was $278{\pm}26$ N, $0.668{\times}10^{-3}{\pm}0.678{\times}10^{-3}$ and $0.248{\times}10^{-3}{\pm}0.102{\times}10^{-3}$, respectively. It was found that six of eight measured strains were within the range of estimated strains by the FEA. Even though it was assumed that properties of FE models were isotropic, it could prove useful as a reference in understanding the tendency of dental strain.

  • Necessity of removable soil nailing has been arisen in the soil nailing system because of problem such as civil petition for geotechnical environment and invasion of the ground boundary line and payments for use besides geotechnical engineering. Removable soil nailing system is improved soil nailing system that fixed socket arranged in boring hole for increasement of skin friction. In this study, field pull-out tests are carried out more 4 times considering installed distance of fixed socket and analyze skin friction behavior characteristics in fixed socket through analysis of measurements of strain gauge attached to fixed socket. Also, to evaluate application for wedge type removable soil nailing system analyzing displacement aspects through field pull-out tests by trial construction.

  • Analysis of the behavior of a laterally loaded pile is important in the design of critical civil structures. Recently, the electric strain gauge has been widely used to measure the strains along the pile. The electric strain gauge, due to lack of durability, is inappropriate in the use of long-term measurements. Herein, the feasibility of implementing the FBG sensor was investigated using a cantilever-type calibrator in laboratory. A special calibrating tool called "cantilever-calibrator" was used to calibrate the FBG sensors. The calibrator consists of a special calibration beam, a holding-clamp at one end of the beam, and a micrometer on the other end. Three FBG sensors were installed on the calibration beam. The strains measured by FBG sensors were compared with those calculated theoretically using cantilever beam theory. The calibration factor of FBG sensors were suggested to compensate the difference between measured and calculate strains.

MPTMS Treated Au/PDMS Membrane for Flexible and Stretchable Strain Sensors

  • Au/PDMS membranes are widely used to fabricate strain sensors which can detect input signals. An interfacial adhesion between metal films and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrates is one of the important factors determining the performance of strain sensors, in terms of robustness, reliability, and sensitivity. Here, we fabricate Au/PDMS membranes with (3-mercaptopropyl) trimethoxysilane (MPTMS) treatment. PDMS membranes were fabricated by spin-coating and the thickness was controlled by varying the spin rates. Au electrodes were deposited on the PDMS membrane by metal sputtering and the thickness was controlled by varying sputtering time. Owing to the MPTMS treatment, the interfacial adhesion between the Au electrode and the PDMS membrane was strengthened and the membrane was highly transparent. The Au electrode, fabricated with a sputtering time of 50 s, had the highest gauge factor at a maximum strain of ~0.7%, and the Au electrode fabricated with a sputtering time of 60 s had the maximum strain range among sputtering times of 50, 60, and 120 s. Our technique of using Au/PDMS with MPTMS treatment could be applied to the fabrication of strain sensors.

단조형식에 따른 단조품과 금형의 탄성 변형에 관한 연구 (The elastic strain analysis of forged product and die according to the forging mode)

  • In the cold forging, elastic deformation of the die has been investigated to improve the accuracy of cold forged parts with F.E.M analysis using DEFORM, and with experiments using strain gauges. In the experiments, initial billet was selected to easily find the effect of elastic deformation according to the forging modes, extrusion and upsetting type, and only extrusion type. Elastic deformation of the die can be obtained by the signal from the strain gauges and this signal can be amplified by data acquisition system during the process. In the F.E.M analysis, two types of analysis are used to predict elastic strain of the die. To improve an accuracy of forged product and die dimension, this study compared with strain distribution between experiment and F.E.M analysis. As a result, the history of the deformation of the die and elastic recovery of forged product can be obtained by the elastic strain analysis of forged product and die according to the forging modes.

하악 제1대구치 상실 시 인접 및 대합 치아들의 이동양상에 따른 교합력 변화: 스트레인게이지를 이용한 비교 연구 (Changes in occlusal force depending on the movement of the adjacent and opposing teeth after loss of lower first molar: comparative study by using a strain gauge)

  • 목적: 하악 제1대구치 상실 시 인접 및 대합 치아들의 경사 및 정출 정도에 따른 교합력의 변화를 스트레인게이지를 이용하여 측정 및 비교하는 것이다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 인접 및 대합 치아들의 경사 및 정출이 심화되는 정도를 점진적으로 네 개의 다이에 표현 후, CAD/CAM 제작 맞춤형 다이 시스템을 통하여 주모형에 부착 및 교체 가능하도록 하였다. 치아에 스트레인게이지를 부착 후, 만능물성시험기로 저작력을 가하면서 상하악 치아의 교합력을 측정하였다. 통계처리는 독립표본 t검증과 일원배치 분산분석을 시행하였다(${\alpha}=.05$). 결과: 대구치 상실 후 치아이동에 따른 교합력의 양상은, 네 단계의 모형에 대한 교합력의 차이가 통계적으로 유의하였고, 감소 추세였다. 음식물 저작 시 인접 치아들의 이동에 따라 상악 제1, 2소구치, 하악 제2대구치에서 점차 교합력이 감소되었다. 음식물의 경도가 감소함에 따라 치아의 교합력이 점차적으로 감소하였다. 육포 저작 시 하악 제2대구치의 교합력이 가장 높게 측정되었다(P < 0.05). 결론: 하악 제1대구치가 상실되고 치아 이동이 일어나기 전에는 저작 시 치아가 상실되지 않았을 때에 비해 인접 및 대합 치아들의 교합력이 높은 반면, 치아 이동이 진행됨에 따라 교합력은 정량적으로 감소하였다.

새로 개발된 세라믹 직포 보강 세라믹 기지 복합체의 인장 및 곡강도 시험 (Flexure and tension tests of newly developed ceramic woven fabric/ceramic matrix composites)

  • 새로 개발된 분말침투 및 연속 다중함침법에 의해 제조된 세라믹 섬유 복합체의 기 계적 물성을 3점 곡강도 빛 인장 시험을 통하여 평가하였다. 정확한 물성 측정을 위하여 strain g gauge 빛 acoustic emission 측정 장비가 사용되였다. 실험 시편은 $Al_20_3$직포$Al_20_3$와 SiC직포/SiC를 기본 재료로 하고 있으며, 일방향으로 배열왼 SiC 섬유(Textron SCS - 6)/SiC 복합체를 비교 목적으로 제작 시험하였다. 이론 밀도의 약 73%인 SiC 직포/SiC 복합체의 최대곡강도는 300 MPa이고, 기지내 균열이 처음 발생하는 응력은 77 MPa였다. 인장강도는 곡강도의 1/3 정 도의 낮은 값을 나타내였고, 인장 시험중의 첫번째 기지 균열 응력 또한 곡강도 시험에서 얻은 값보다는 상당히 낮은 값을 보여주였다. 곡강도 물성에 비교하여 상대적으로 낮은 인장물성은 WeibuH 통계 처리 방법에 의하여 응력을 받고 있는 부피의 차로 정량적으로 해석하였다. 해석 결과, 직포가 충으로 배열된 복합체의 최대 인장강도는 응력을 받는 섬유의 길이에 의존하며, 기지내 균열이 생기는 첫번째 응력은 응력을 받는 부피에 의해 결정됨을 보여주었다. SiC 휘스 커를 기지에 보장함으로써 복합체의 기지파괴 strain을 향상시키는 이유로, 첫번째 기지 균일 응력이 증가됨을 확인하였다.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analysis of initial behavior of concrete pavement with initial measurement strain gauge for concrete pavement at field, and to investigate the field test results for field applicability testing. The early-age behaviors of concrete pavement slabs were measured using the strain gauges. From the slab depths and positions, the outputs from each gauges were recorded at initial curing period. The initial measurement of concrete pavement and check of crack at the joint were performed, the results could be summarized as follows. From the results of concrete strength, compressive strength and flexural strength were showed $271kgf/cm^2$, $43kgf/cm^2$ respectively. From the tests of early-age strain measurement, it was found that the strain varied at the maximum value of $150{\mu}{\varepsilon}$ and early behavior of concrete slab was showed a tensile strain. However, for long-term was showed a compressive strain due to dry-shrinkage.

3D-ESPI System을 이용한 응력집중부의 변형률 측정기법 연구 (The Research of the Strain Measuement Method on the Stress Concentration Area using 3D-ESPI System)

  • In this paper, the tensile test of three kinds of the specimens was performed. Type I specimen is without notch and type II, III specimens have a radius of semi-circular edge crack of 2.5mm, 4.0mm. The tensile load(20kN and 30kN) was applied to the specimen by Universal Testing Machine. 3D-ESPI system and strain gauge measured simultaneously the strain in the center of the specimen and near the edge crack. The test results were compared with each other. Moreover, the stress concentration factor based on geometric information was calculated to confirm the accuracy of the strain measured by 3D-ESPI system. The calculated strain was compared with the measured one by 3D-ESPI system. As a result, it was confirmed that 3D-ESPI system measured the right strain near the semi-circular edge crack of the specimens.
