  • While the women of the Korea Dynasty wore hat(笠子) and Mongsu(蒙首) on top of it when going out, the Yi Dynasty, due to more strict Contucian ethics and isolated way of life, had seen the development of the covering clothes, rather veil, for avoiding the opposite sex with diversity and both men and women began wearing PHO(coat), a Korean topcoat over the head and thurs called Changots, but originally PHO for men was named Changyi a men's outer coat. Neuwul(羅兀), like Mongsu(蒙首) of Korea Dynasty was a thin black hood worn on top of the Wowllip or a kind of skirt draped over the head and the latter was called Changots, very similar to Sgaechima, a kind of long hood formally worn by women. Meanwhile, local women wore a long veil with no arm sleeves dubbed Cheunyi(薦衣) But since western civilization and culture landed on Korea around the end of the 19th century, the women's social status has been raised to almost the same level with men and the way of life has changed towards openness, in which men and women have almost daily contact with one another, so these days we can hardly find such veil style covering clothes around us.

  • A sirocco fan is widely used for discharging pollutants of a kitchen space since it is able to generate a relatively high air flow rate considering its small size and makes less noise than a axial fan or a centrifugal fan. However, it has a problem because its efficiency is low, and power consumption is larger. Performance of a sirocco fan is influenced by various factors such as number of the fan blades, diameter of the fan, geometry of the fan, geometry of its housing, revolution frequency, static pressure condition, and etc. This research investigated the effect on the performance of geometry of the housing. For CFD analysis, we used a commercial code, SC/Tetra, and used a sliding mesh method to give the same condition as an actual state. Verification of the CFD results is done by comparison of experimental data and numerical one about the suction flow rate, and it is confirmed that two results are well consistent. After we changed the shape of housing according to Archimedes' screw, we observed that suction efficiency is improved by 10.7% maximum.

  • In regulation of IGC code 12.1 mechanical ventilation should be arranged to ensure sufficient air movement through the space to avoid the accumulation of flammable or toxic vapours and ensure a safe working environment, but in no case should the ventilation system have a capacity of less than 30 changes of air per hour baed upon the total volume of the space. In this study, a scaled mode chamber was constructed to investigate the ventilation characteristics and stagnation area in the hood room of LNG carrier and pump room in tanker. An experimental study was performed on the model by using visualization equipment with a laser apparatus and an image intensifier CCD camera. Twelve different kinds of measuring areas were selected as the experimental condition. Instant simultaneous velocity vectors in the whole fields were measured by a 2-D PIV system A three-dimensional numerical simulation was also carried out for three different Reynolds numbers. Then the CFD predictions were discussed with the experimental results. The results show the spiral L-shape flow that moves from the opening on the left wall diagonally to the upper right part dominates the ventilation structure. The stationary area of hood room in the velcoity distributions was located in the upper left stern part.

  • The purpose of this study is to use data from studies of headdresses which might be helpful for creating new fashion styles. Headdresses in 2010 S/S-2015 S/S Paris haute couture collections were analyzed in the following categories: years, season, brand, type, color, material, and image. The types of headdresses were categorized as hat, hood, decorative or complex types. The hat type was elegant with a modern style, and coexisted with an exaggerated avant garde style. The hood type wrapped around the head with many examples having a distinctive sculpture on top of the knot. The decorative type varied dramatically in form and materials. The complex type was a blend of all the other types with the designer's individuality being outstanding. The characteristics of headdresses were revealed first, as an enlargement of the materials category, second, as an expression of dramatic forms, and third, as complete coordination of the creative fashion image. The headdresses illustrate the designer's creativity in producing a variety of images. Henceforth they will be important as fashion items and independent designs in fashion styling.

  • The vortex ventilation system (VV) which uses a rotating finned swirler installed coaxially with the exhaust duct is a very effective local ventilator. VV can enhance the capture depth by a factor of 3-5 compared to the conventional exhaust hood, in the absence of any solid walls nearby. In real situations there may exist ceiling, side wall and floor, all of which can affect the flow field and suction performance by way of the no-slip condition on the walls. 3D CFD simulation was performed in order to see the effect of the floor on the capture performance of the VV. The presence of floor reduced suction flow velocity, and increased the critical rotational speed which is the rotational speed required for stable vortex formation. Flow velocity profile along the axis could be well approximated by a universal functional form when the distance from the exhaust inlet is non-dimensionalized by the distance to the floor. Capture depth, define by the distance from the exhaust inlet to a point of velocity decreased to 10% of that at the inlet, is reduced by about 10% when the floor distance is 6 times the exhaust hood diameter.

  • This study was conducted to investigate seasonal changes of microbiological counts and sanitation state on the surface of food service facilities and utilities of elementary schools in Busan area. Samples swabbed using sponge were collected from the surface of food service facilities and utilities, that is ceiling, wall, floor, trench, grease trap, hood, pest control net and dumb waiter, and analyzed by measuring the total plate, coliform and Salmonella spp. count. The total plate counts at foodservice facilities and utilities except ceiling and wall were ranged from 10$^4$∼10$^{6}$ CFU/100 $\textrm{cm}^2$. The coliform counts were ranged from 10$^2$∼10$^4$ CFU/100 $\textrm{cm}^2$ at foodservice facilities and utilities except ceiling. The grease trap was the severely contaminated facility. It was indicated that the sanitary condition at the foodservice facilities and utilities except ceiling and wall should be improved promptly. As a result of investigating the seasonal changes of microbiological counts, floor, trench, grease trap and dumb waiter should be carried out disinfection before foodserving everyday in summer season, and the disinfection frequencies of wall, hood and pest control net should not be less than three times per week. In winter season floor, trench, and dumb waiter should be carried out disinfection after foodserving, grease trap should be carried out disinfection before foodserving everyday and the disinfection frequencies of wall, hood and pest control net should not be less than twice per week.
