Lane Adaptive Recovery for Multiple Lane Faults in Optical Ethernet Link

  • We propose a lane adaptive recovery scheme for multiple lane faults in a multi-lane-based Ethernet link. In our scheme, when lane faults occur in a link, they are processed not as full link faults but as partial link faults. Our scheme provides a higher link utilization and lower packet loss rate by reusing the available lanes of the link and providing a low recovery time of under a microsecond.

  • In this paper, a modified PCF (Point Coordination Function) MAC (Medium Access Control) Protocol is proposed to support the multiple direct link communication between STAs (STAtions) in infrastructure mode IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. By the proposed MAC protocol, the direct link communication between STAs, which are located within the communication range of each other, is allowed without the use of AP (Access Point) as a relay. Moreover, when multiple direct data communication between STAs can be simultaneously performed with a sufficiently small interference, multiple simultaneous direct link communication is allowed for the efficient use of radio bandwidth. AP polls STAs to grant the transmission opportunities using the direct link communication by transmitting the polling frames to STAs. An efficient polling method for granting the transmission opportunities to STAs is proposed to reduce the number of the polling frame transmissions and enhance the PCF MAC performance.

  • 본 논문에서는 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 기반 다중 안테나 시스템의 링크레벨 성능 분석을 위하여 실제 전파 환경과 유사한 특성을 갖는 Ray-tracing 방식 채널의 하나인 SCM(Spatial Channel Model) 채널을 구현한다. 3GPP & 3GPP2 Spatial Channel AHG(Ad-hoc Group)에서 시스템레벨 성능 비교용으로 제안한 SCM 채널을 링크레벨 성능의 비교 분석을 위하여, 본 논문에서는 시스템레벨 채널에 대한 채널 계수 및 파라메터들을 링크레벨 성능 비교용으로 변환하여 구현한다. 모의실험을 통하여 구현한 SCM 채널의 특성을 검증하고, 이를 이용하여 기존의 OFDM 기반 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) 적용 시스템 및 스마트 안테나 적용 시스템에서의 실제적인 링크레벨 성능을 분석하고, 정확한 비교 검증을 위하여 SCM 채널과 동일한 파라메터를 적용한 I-METRA 채널 및 독립 채널 상황에서의 링크 레벨 성능을 함께 비교 분석한다. MIMO 및 스마트 안테나 적용 시스템에 대하여 여러 채널 환경에서 채널 상관도에 따른 링크레벨 성능을 분석함으로써, 채널 상관도의 영향에 따라 주어진 환경에 적합한 다중 안테나 시스템을 제안한다.

Channel Assignment, Link Scheduling, Routing, and Rate Control for Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks with Directional Antennas

  • The wireless mesh network (WMN) has attracted significant interests as a broadband wireless network to provide ubiquitous wireless access for broadband services. Especially with incorporating multiple orthogonal channels and multiple directional antennas into the WMN, each node can communicate with its neighbor nodes simultaneously without interference between them. However, as we allow more freedom, we need a more sophisticated algorithm to fully utilize it and developing such an algorithm is not easy in general. In this paper, we study a joint channel assignment, link scheduling, routing, and rate control problem for the WMN with multiple orthogonal channels and multiple directional antennas. This problem is inherently hard to solve, since the problem is formulated as a mixed integer nonlinear problem (MINLP). However, despite of its inherent difficulty, we develop an algorithm to solve the problem by using the generalized Benders decomposition approach [2]. The simulation results show the proposed algorithm provides the optimal solution to maximize the network utility, which is defined as the sum of utilities of all sessions.

Selection of the Best Two-Hop AF Wireless Link under Multiple Antenna Schemes over a Fading Channel

  • In evaluating the performance of a dual-hop wireless link, the effects of large and small scale fading has to be considered. To overcome this fading effect, several schemes, such as multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) with orthogonal space time block codes (OSTBC), different combining schemes at the relay and receiving end, and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) are used in both the transmitting and the relay links. In this paper, we first make compare the performance of a two-hop wireless link under a different combination of space diversity in the first and second hop of the amplify-and-forward (AF) case. Our second task in this paper is to incorporate the weak signal of a direct link and then by applying the channel model of two random variables (one for a direct link and another for a relayed link) we get very impressive result at a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) that is comparable with other models at a higher SNR. Our third task is to bring other three schemes under a two-hop wireless link: use of transmit antenna selection (TAS) on both link with weak direct link, distributed Alamouti scheme in two-hop link and single relay antenna with OFDM subcarrier. Finally, all of the schemes mentioned above are compared to select the best possible model. The main finding of the paper is as follows: the use of MIMO on both hops but application TAS on both links with weak direct link and the full rate OFDM with the sub-carrier for an individual link provide a better result as compared to other models.

  • This paper considers the evaluation of the ecquistion performance for an accesschannel preamble based on a random access procedure of direct sequence code division multiple access(DS/CDMA) reverse link. The parallel acquistion technique that employs the single-well detection scheme and the multiple-dwell(double-dwell) detection scheme is mentioned. The acquisition performance for two detection schemes is compared in therms of the acquisition probability and the acquisition time. The parallel acquisition is done by a bank of N parallel I/Q noncoherent correlators. Expressions on the detection, false alarm, and miss probabilities of the single-dwell and multiple-dwell(double-well) detection schemes are derived for multiple H$_{1}$ cells and multipath Rayleight fading channel. comparing the single-dwell detection scheme with the multiple-dwell(double-dwell) detection scheme in the case of employing the parallel acquisition technique in the reverse link,the numerical results show that the single-dwell detection scheme deomonstrates a better performance.

Link-16에서 이미지 전송을 위한 신뢰성 기반의 동적 TDMA 기법과 새로운 패킹 방법 (Reliable Dynamic TDMA Scheme with new Packing method for Image Transmission over Link-16)

  • Link-16은 가장 널리 사용 중인 전술데이터링크로써 TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access)를 기반으로 동작한다. Link-16은 안정적이지만 전송 속도가 매우 낮아 전술 메시지, 음성 등 작은 사이즈의 데이터 전송을 지원한다. 그러나 최근 효과중심작전(EBO: Effect-Based Operation)에 대한 관심이 증가하면서, Link-16을 통해 이미지와 같은 상황 인식 정보를 전송하려는 동향이 있다. 이미지는 기존 메시지에 비해 크기가 매우 크기 때문에 Link-16의 Static TDMA가 아닌 별도의 TDMA 스케줄링이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Link-16의 MAC을 진화시킨 Link-16K를 제안하였다. Link-16K는 Link-16과 호환성을 유지한다. 그리고 이미지 전송을 효과적으로 지원하기 위해 DTDMA(Dynamic TDMA), 새로운 재전송 방법, 새로운 패킹 방법을 포함한다. 제안하는 아이디어의 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 이미지 전송 시간이 단축되었고, 채널 효율성이 높아졌음을 확인하였다.

한국형 전술데이터링크(Link-K)의 무선통신 시험환경 구성 및 다중접속 프로토콜 성능분석 (The Implementation of Wireless Communication Test Environment for the Link-K System and Performance Analysis of Multiple Access Protocols)

  • This paper describes the wireless communication test environment for the Link-K system and shows the performance analysis of multiple access protocols. The test environment consists of data generator, modem, radio sets, attenuators, and antennas. In case of both CSMA and Roll-Call protocols, throughput performance and delay are measured. And test results are analyzed. The test results would be used for communication performance analysis and network design of Link-K system.

M_CSPF: A Scalable CSPF Routing Scheme with Multiple QoS Constraints for MPLS Traffic Engineering

  • In the context of multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) traffic engineering, this paper proposes a scalable constraintbased shortest path first (CSPF) routing algorithm with multiple QoS metrics. This algorithm, called the multiple constraint-based shortest path first (M_CSPF) algorithm, provides an optimal route for setting up a label switched path (LSP) that meets bandwidth and end-to-end delay constraints. In order to maximize the LSP accommodation probability, we propose a link weight computation algorithm to assign the link weight while taking into account the future traffic load and link interference and adopting the concept of a critical link from the minimum interference routing algorithm. In addition, we propose a bounded order assignment algorithm (BOAA) that assigns the appropriate order to the node and link, taking into account the delay constraint and hop count. In particular, BOAA is designed to achieve fast LSP route computation by pruning any portion of the network topology that exceeds the end-to-end delay constraint in the process of traversing the network topology. To clarify the M_CSPF and the existing CSPF routing algorithms, this paper evaluates them from the perspectives of network resource utilization efficiency, end-to-end quality, LSP rejection probability, and LSP route computation performance under various network topologies and conditions.

Channel Capacity Maximization in a Distorted 2×2 LOS MIMO Link

  • This paper presents a novel channel capacity maximization method for a distorted $2{\times}2$ line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) link. A LOS MIMO link may be distorted by the influence of environmental factors such that the channel capacity of the LOS MIMO link may be degraded. By using the proposed method, the channel capacity of a distorted $2{\times}2$ LOS MIMO link can be the same as that of the ideal $2{\times}2$ LOS MIMO link. The proposed method employs an additional receiver antenna to maximize the channel capacity. In contrast to a $3{\times}2$ LOS MIMO link, a receiver circuit for a third receiving antenna is not necessary. Hence, the receiver for the proposed method is much simpler than that for a $3{\times}2$ LOS MIMO link. We determine the optimal position of the additional receiver antenna analytically. Simulation results show that the channel capacity can approach the ideal using the proposed method.
